Hy!
I've upgraded my Qtek 9090 from Windows Mobile 2003 SE to Windows Mobile 6.
1. On older version I connected to Internet via Bluetooth manager.
I can't find something similar on WM6.
2. In WM 2003 SE I had strorage place to save music and stuff.
I can't find it on WM6. ???
Hi,
Well I upgraded myself about 2hrs ago!
First off which rom are you using?
1. Bluetooth connections are setup in connection manager in WM6. All connections are handled here, Wifi GPRS bluetooth etc.
2. There's no 'storage' area in WM 5 or 6. All the space is now permanent storage so you can put you music anywhere you like without fear of losing it if the battery dies.

I am using XDAII Mini (i-Mate Jam) and trying to figure out how to browse the internet using my Apple Powerbook's active Wi-Fi connection.
The only way I can communicate with my Powerbook is using bluetooth. But as you know, the XDAII Mini's bluetooth software does not allow you to activesync with bluetooth nor allows you to create a network connection with bluetooth. And the later function is very necessary to successfully connect to my Powerbook.
In the new PDAs using Pocket PC 2003 you can find a very good bluetooth software (originally iincluded) which allows you to do the above.
I'm still trying to solve this problem and need any inputs.
Thank you in advance.
Cheers.
Hello,
With ActiveSync, it does let you to connect and synchronze and get an internet connection. Unfortunately that depends from the software you're using the sync.
Usually we have an icon where you can specify if to enable 'Pass-Thru' when the PDA is connected to 'Work' or 'Internet'

I have recently upgraded form a Sony Ericsson K750 to a Qtek S200 (ROM 2.9.7.24). I used to use Floats Mobile Agent to sync with my PC via Bluetooth, but also get notifications of text messages and phone calls direct on to my PC.
Obvoiusly activesync takes care of the syncing issues (although not wirelessly) but the notifications were really useful when you have your phone on silent in the office.
The point is that for some reason i cannot get my S200 to connect to Flats Mobile Agent. I can pair my device with my PC but fma will not connect. I suspect this has something to do with Windows Mobile 5. Has anybody managed to et this to work?
Thanks

i tried to pair my athena with my apple the other to get the internet connection.
after the pairing, i only find the headphone service on my athena.....
no modem is found.....
i had an hermes working just with apple....
how come the athena doesn;t support this feature?
thanks
Have you tried Start -> Programs > Internet Sharing?
Hi,
the only way I got this to work with my apple is with the Missing Sync For Windows Mobile software. With this you can sync everything and use the internet connection sharing feature. I absolutely recommend getting that software if you are a mac user!
Cheers,
Urfin
Missing Sync is good for syncing. For using the Ameo as a BT Modem, You have to start internet sharing from Programs. Afterwards, when you click on the BTicon on the menu bar of the mac, you find a new entry similar to "connect with Pocket PC". w
When you click that, your mac is connected via the ameo with the Internet!
Hi all,
I've seen a lot of threads specifying how one would go about using the bluetooth to share the phone's internet connection. However, I would like to do the opposite, that is, share the PC's internet connection via bluetooth so that I can surf the net on my phone (I do not have wifi). Any help would be most appreciated.

many more hits of you use search and search "bluetooth AND modem"
thanks for the reply, but i already know how to do this. Perhaps you didn't understand my question; I do not want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem. I would like to use my home ADSL connection via bluetooth to access the internet through my phone. This feature was there by default in my SE P910i, and I'm sure it should be possible to do this via my XDA as well. Once again, I do NOT want to use my XDA as a bluetooth modem
when connected to activesync pda's have the same network access as the pc they are connected to unless one have disabled it
so synch with bluetooth to your pc and you got it's internet
Check this page. Hope it helps you

I'm successfully running such a setup, using Linux (w/ bluez stack) on the Internet Gateway. However, I had only luck with the Widcomm stack on the Windows Mobile, w/ the MS stack, I could not manage to find any way to use DUN or NAP. With Widcomm, you can configure access via a "Bluetooth Access Point", which will use DUN services on the Host (Gateway) computer. On Linux, this means setting up dund (comes with bluez) and configuring a PPP profile for it.
Any idea if Widcomm BT stack is available for installing it on WM5. I think mine is with MS by default and couldnt find an option to configure it.
I think it isn't offered for free to the public. Nevertheless, there seem to be a few CABs with the broadcom/widcomm stack out there in the WWW. Google might lead you the way...
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys.
I have succesully used DUN with both my original iMate Jamin ROM and PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 ROM to access the internet via a linux box running Bluez and dund.
I was hoping the new PAN profile in wm6 would allow me to simplify and setup a standard wm6 PANU -> linux NAP. However it looks like wm6 only supports running as a NAP and wont allow you to do that unless your connected to the internet via GRPS etc.
Is it possible to either add support for PANU in wm6 or activate the NAP without an active connection?
I'm not sure if I'm the only daft bat that does this. But in the past i would use my Hermes under wm6 as a Bluetooth Pan Internet sharing connection with my BA as it had the ability to either Host or establish a Bluetooht PAN link.
Since i've upgraded the BA to Wm6 I've noticed that as with my hermes the betowrk options are severly depreciated. and now when i search for Bluetooth services on the hermes it only shows Dial up networking but doesn't give you the option of Bluetooth PAN as a service it can find or give. also Can not set the init string to send to Bluetooth modem if choosen. thusly cannot tell it the access point etc.etc.
Is there any advise possible to help me link the BA with my hermes using Bluetooth PAN for the internet sharing through the hermes ( yea i know but HSDPA is far faster then the BA's basic 3g hehehe)
RESOLVED: the problem is in the Bluetooth stack of this rom. in short the Wm6 rom appearantly can't find a PAN connection at all as I tried to find the one on my PC at home and it definatly didnt' show anything accept a serial port. However my hermes could see the personal network conenction and once reflashed to the t-mobile latest rom it can now establish a PAN network conenction with pc or hermes300.
guess the bluetooth profiles in the rom for the BA in wm6 are a bit lacking at moment
It works great in Vista
Hi,
My Vista has automatically recognized my Hermes. No need to define a modem or connection string. Just run the Internet Sharing on Hermes and then it is seen in Networks and Sharing Cetner. I just open my IE and it works.

cool, only problem here is that my Hermes 300 ( t-mobile vario II) using Schaps 3.54c Wm6 Rom has the bluetooth Pan driver for internet sharing, as well as the modem link yea? And the Blue angel now being Windows mobile 6 doesn't show like Wm2003 did. in Wm2003 you could create a Bluetooth Netowrk connection for PAN to the hermes. Or a bluetooth serial connection to the hermes Modem link. Now it only shows Dial up networking in both since they are both wm6. And also doesn't give you the option of an init string entry in the advance network options for the AT+CGD init string that also lists the part "ip", "general.t-mobile.uk" which is the access point when doing Bluetooth DUN.
How would i establish a PAN connection to the hermes Internet sharing with the BA under Wm6 from helmi is the real question?
Ok I can assume then nobody else has 2 windows mobile 6 devices and tries to have one work via the other or nobody other then me has tried this.
Hermes300 windows mobile 6
Blue angel Helmi Windows mobile 6
cannot make a Pan connection in either direction Hermes to Blue angel, or Blue angel to hermes.
this means potentially people with Pda's ( ie: Compaq or HP Ipaq's runnign Wm6 ) or other mobile with wm6 will not be able to use the Helmi rom for internet sharing and really are better off leaving WM2003se on as has more compatability in that regard.
If however others have tried this and found a way to get it working please post =)
Me too

I have two WM5 devices and am having exactly the same problem! I always through DUN was simple enough, but I am not going to get in to a debate about it versus Internet Sharing BUT why the hell did MS remove the "client" functionality? It is all very well and good if your Internet Sharing device (i.e. WM5 or 6 phone) is going to be the "server" but what if it is the client (as many PDAs will be).
I see no way of doing it! Anyone?

you can still use the Modem link if you can get it to create a serial port bluetooth link , ie: pair the devices and select Serial Port. then under the connections then you would tell it to use Bluetooth Modem
and put in the advanced dialing string for bluetooth DUN.
there are a few threads about bluetooth DUN on this forum.
the only thing i can thnk of that would make this not work however is if the roms your using are cooked roms and the profiles in the bluetooth stack are missing on 1 or both for the features suggested.
this is what stopped me from having this work as the wm6 on the Hermes and on the Helmi rom are missing the profile for HOSTING a PAN directly without internet sharing and dont' offer bluetooth serial port as an option
