I've followed the Wiki on upgrading just the Radio to 1.15. I have 1.02 or something. When I try to upgrade the radio, it just sticks at a screen which says something like "checking for something - do not unplug." I hangs there and I just unplug and soft reset with no upgrade to the radio.
I want to use another radio because the one I'm using loses the connection all the time and I have to soft reset.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Don't forget that you need to put your device into Serial, or USB mode before performing the upgrade. Even though the on screen instructions say to do a reset don't follow those instructions. The Wiki explains how to do this.
Free888,
Thanks. I tried it both in bootloader mode (serial/usb) and hooked up to activesync. Neither worked. I'll try again for kicks.
Tried it a few more times and it took.
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but i could not find an answer for this in this section or general section -- The problem is this i upgraded to wm6 from wm2003 and everything was fine then it started it freeze ocationally so i thought i'd give it a hard reset as ther was no where in the tutorial that said that after flashing you could not hard reset now the phone is stuck on the O2 screen where the IPL & SPL are displayed
IPL=1.00 &
SPL=1.01.0109 &
GSM=0.3.28.60
I know the IPL/SPL were at 2.61 before that
Can anyone tell me how to get out of this or is the phone now bricked?
Yes, you cant hard reset because the htccoldboot.dll is not there, its not brick, you got the right SPL, just reflash again, refer to my guide on my siggy
Thanks
great that worked out fine gave me a scare - now it's all back up and runnung apart from the camera
For those stuck with this same problem, please re-flash starting from step 7 of karhoe's instructions to upgrade to WM6.
After installing a few applications and having to reboot, my SMT5600 would not connect via ActiveSync, nor show any network carrier and none of the menu keys worked (Start & Contacts). While troubleshooting I browsed to a forum suggesting I try a hard reset.
Never got a proper hard reset and ended up stuck at the initial screen showing the IPL / SPL / HIVE and Partition info.
Followed karhoe's step 7, with phone turned off, held camera button down and plugged in USB cable. Followed remaining instructions.
Note: the "type 'l c:/os.bin' " step is done in the mtty.exe screen that pops up (and not on your PC's command prompt ).
Thanks karhoe,
Good luck to everyone,
Jawad
After (I think) successfully upgrading to WM6, I've had a few problems...
1) I can't seem to soft reset anymore (holding down Power at the top + the reset button)...it seems the only way I can now reset my unit is by physically removing the battery...
2) I can't access the bootloader SERIAL mode...I can access the options for the kernel hive and formatting storage, but no success being able to get into USB mode to reflash my unit
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I only bought this phone on Friday
1. This was hard reset in WM2003 - for soft reset just press the reset button
2. You need to press and hold power+reset+record(WMP) buttons at the same time
I suggest you read WIKI first before asking questions which are answered a million times
Thank you for the prompt reply.
I can understand your frustration with many people constantly asking these questions, but please don't make me feel like an idiot when I've actually read the Wiki and tried Googling the problem prior to posting.
To clarify, I know *how* to access the SERIAL option (I had to do it to upgrade from 2003 to WM6 to begin with). My point is that holding Reset+Power+Record doesn't work anymore. It just continues the boot process and goes straight to the Windows Mobile splash screen. The reset button, in and of itself, does nothing at all. I've tried everything from just tapping it a few times to pressing and holding it for upwards of 30 seconds...but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Try to hold and press power+record+cam buttons then press reset while holding those buttons.
Yeah, it does nothing...I have a feeling that the actual reset button is no longer working on the unit...not sure if that's to do with the upgrade to WM6, or if it's a hardware problem and just happens to be coincidence :-/
don't take xplode's advise wrongly. it's just that reading AND understanding the WIKI is important especially for beginners like yourself.
if you think you've successfully upgraded to WM6, it's probably because of the "Congratulations" message that was displayed... well, you're almost there, though not quite.
try to fully understand the no/yes/yes instruction in the WIKI... the reset+power+record combination is NOT what you should be doing. it has been replaced by another... here's the thread that could guide you... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327978&highlight=kitl
and here's the pertinent wiki page...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4
good luck and welcome to the BA community.
Anyway if this that you try to explain is that the hardware buttons no longer work, you can try the MTTY method, if you have read the wiki you already know what exactly to do
Thanks raymonds, I will try not to, but I just don't want people thinking I'm yet another new member that doesn't read anything before posting, because I know how much I hate that too...I tried reading up on my problems for 4 hours last night before deciding to post because I couldn't find anything else to help.
I have successfully upgraded to WM6 and went through the no/yes/yes steps - the issue is that I want to go back to WM2003 or WM5...they seemed far less problematic for my phone for some reason..one problem I'm facing now is that my BA, pure and simple, no longer recognizes that I have a cellular carrier at all, making it essentially useless as a phone. When I try to go into SIM Manager, it hangs for a while, then goes into the screen saying that only emergency calls can be made...but when I try to put in my PIN, it says "Unknown SIM error", though the SIM works fine in my other phone...
I'm trying to use the Power/Reset/Record to either try reflashing in the hopes that'll resolve my issues, or downgrade...either way, it's not allowing me to do so, and I obviously can't do this while the phone is booted into WM6. It just seems like the reset button is no longer working, since neither combination that uses it (Power+Reset or Power+Camera+Reset) works anymore.
try to downgrade with MAUpgradeUT_NOID.exe, and then reupgrade, another thing you can do is to reflash the radio rom. The MTTY method resets bootloader settings which may be the solution to your problem.
MTTY under Windows XP is explained HERE
xplode, mtty requires one to do the power+reset+record combination, which he currently cannot do.
is this a second-hand unit?
Hm, there was another way to put your device into bootloader mode but i have never tryed it, in most of the WM2003 upgrades there was EnterBL.exe, and when you copy it to the device and execute it the device goes to bootloader mode...
but it also creates problems - read here
Also i had problems in the past with the latest version of MTTY (1.45) and used previous one 1.01 which worked like a charm
Sweet - thanks xplode and raymonds for your time.
Unfortunately I can't try these as I am at work right now, but I do appreciate the suggestions and will try them as soon as I get home.
If I can't get it to work, oh well - off to the service depot and a (probably) expensive lesson learned.
Please keep us updated, about your issue
Thanks guys...
So, I'm taking it that the radio stack is now corrupt, since it's no longer even showing a version number on my BA. I tried the methods xplode suggested - when I enter the unit into KITL mode, I take it I'm supposed to use USB Active as the transport method, since MTTY won't recognize a device otherwise, and my phone just boots into Windows from that point.
When I try to run MTTY though, all it does is display "kITLÂȘ" over and over again...I'm not sure if that's normal, or even how to enter a prompt of some kind...
I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should just take it to the depot, pay the $75 I was quoted, and learn my lesson... :-/
Any other suggestions, or am I just totally doing what you suggested wrong?
You do not need to enter KITL because this is used to debug your WM build using Platform builder
Just try to put your device to botloader mode and then use MTTY to instruct the bootloader what to do, or just reflash radio and then new rom
Arrrrrrrrrrrggghhh
Hopefully my Orbit2 isnt tottally screwed. Now I've updated the ROM on my Obrit I plently of times without running into any problems, so like a fool I thought I would have a go at updating the radio on my Orbit2 so I download HardSPL and the radio, follow the instructions and nothing happens so I read that taking the memory stick out helps.
So again I tried this time it tells me to unplug the USB and connect it again which I do, everything seems to be going fine at this point %bar increasing etc until it gets to 99% and stays there.
What do I do now I cry, next thing that comes up is update error 262 occured and that I should try recovery. So I follow these instructions, pull out the battery and wait before starting it up again.
I get the screen with RED BLUE GREEN says POLA200, SPL 1.25.0000 CPLD-2, I follow the instructions to connect the USB again. So it says error process complete run the update again. So I star over
All I get now is a percentage bar stuck on 0% Plllllllleeeasee can someone kindly help me.
Thank you
Ok so a bit of searching shows error 262 is something to do with activesync, and indeed no active sync connection is being made but is this to do with the fact its stuck in bootloader? if so how do I exit it sorry to sound noobish
Will try to flash original ROM from O2 Orbit2.
If you can enter to bootloader then try flash from him.
And not forget flash HardSpl again.
Good luck.
Thank's Henry, thats one of the things I tried but even that was stuck at 0%
Ok panic stations put on hold for now I guess I was just looking for someones hand to hold and guide me through, but I managed to exit boot loader with that mtty tool and command set 16 0 and task 8.
That will teach me to try not to do something like that just before going to bed lol
Now has anyone sucessfully upgraded the radio on O2 orbit to 1.64.08.21.
sure ... i have.
1. establish a full partnership via activesync (or vista pendant mybe windows update is needed here)
2. update hardspl with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351964
3. update radio rom or os
everything works fine. done these upgrades stock > bepe 0.63 > bepe 0.64 > bepe 0.65 > Radio 1.64.08.21 > bepe 0.66 > bepe 0.67
just do some research here and you'll find all information you need.
My son dropped his 8525. It is now stuck on a display of red, green, blue, and white bars. A reset and a battery removal do nothing to get it to boot. Is it toast or is there something I can do to get it to boot?
considering this is your 1st post I'm assuming that you didnt have olipro 2.10 as your SPL.....What is your IPL and SPL as this may get you the help you are looking for... And if you do get it going again PLEASE install Hard SPL, Here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Good luck.
P.S. try reading through this, it may help... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369434
The IPL:
IPL-1.04
The SPL:
SPL-2.03
I hope this helps someone.
Someone said they had success with this problem in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355884
Read a bit and see if it works but please understand that this really just trying out everything in a last ditch effort to get it working. There may be no hope, so no promises...
If you do manage to get it going again I'd suggest Hard SPLing your phone so it is easier to fix. Hard SPL isn't a guarantee, mind, but it does provide a safety net for when things like this happen...
All the best...
hermes 100 8525 flash problem
hi, i was trying to upgrade a cingular 8525 in the process of unlock,
and it stopped at 1%, and did nothing,
now the phone just go to the 3 color screen,
and says
herm100
ipl-1.00
hem100
spl-1.40.olipro,
what can i do to restore it to normal please,
lacasapc, try to Hard Reset, hold down both soft keys and reset with stylus. If that doesn't work then try this : Flash it to you device while it in tricolour screen. Make sure that your activesync disable & use the latest RUUwrapper.
Open Activesync, select connection settings and untick "Allow USB Connections".
Run the RUUwrapper.exe file for the os you want after connecting the hermes via usb. Chose SPL 1.40 then HARD SPL and then flash the new OS. This should work.
Cheers...
I found my phone was freezed, then I restart the phone by turning off and on the power.
after phone turned on ,the phone shows" this concludes the beta test of this software release. Thank you very much for your time and effort in helping make this a great produt for our customers............"
Phone just freezed, I performed hard reset, but nothing happens.
I try to re-flashed the ROM, but phone does not sync with the PC.
What can I do now? Pls help.
Boot into bootloader (soft reset and hold volume down until you see the TriColour screen)
Connect through USB (Just plug it in and make sure you see the word USB on your device screen)
Flash and enjoy. (Flash like normal)
Very odd that you got that message.. Where did you get your Touch HD from and had you installed anything recently?
Are you using custom rom? You need to go into SPL first, then plug-in the usb cable. You should be able to see "USB" at the bottom, then launch the RUU app. Flashing through SDcard is faster. Read up in xda-wiki...its well documented.

I'm wwondering if rom you had installed had a time bomb embedded into it like a few other cooked roms out there which only allowed a certain time limit before rom became useless.
Easy way out of course is to flash new rom. You'll need to put phone into bootloader mode and check SPL as you may need to use USPL or HSPL first and then flash new rom.
Great tutorial by my mate cRaCKwHoRe can be found in my signature to help you out
