For some reason, my phone has a mind of it's own. The right button on the d-pad just turns on what seems to be randomly, ALL the time, making it extremely difficult to use the phone.
Any ideas how I can either just disable the button or is this a common problem with a fix?
Appreciate any help, thanks!
Disable d-pad maybe?
I'll paypal $20 to anyone who can help me fix this as well.

This is my first post and I must say that this is a great group of people who know what they are talking about!
Anyways, I have had my 8525 for about two weeks and I am loving it. For whatever reason some of my buttons do not work! The dpad works but the two soft buttons, the start button, ok button, email, PIE, and the green and red buttons don't work. The power, scroller, comm manager, the left ok button and the PTT all DO work. I did a hard reset hoping that would fix it but no luck. I been installing and trying a lot of programs but I thought after the hard reset that any program that screwed this up would be gone. Please help I love this phone and really don't want to take it back.
Thanks,
Dan
I took it back and that solved all of my problems.
you took back , what?
i am having the same issue with a HTC Tytn.

My hermes has a similar problem, buttons under the screen sometimes won't work, but if I turn off backlight and turn on, it works... but not very well because if I press green button then red button continually, buttons don't work again after few pressions....
I have changed my ROM but it's the same, it isn't a hardware problem because if I turn the scroll it works again...
This problem is known?
Thank you very muche for your help and sorry for my bad english.
same issue with my TyTN...
Same issue here with Tytn, buttons won't work but if I use scroll button a bit then buttons work again.
Hey guys,
Exactly the same problem here and it's infuriating when I'm trying to make calls on the run and sometimes I can't even pick up calls.
I have an I-mate Jasjam ROM 1.31.305.2.
If anyone has any fixes or solutions that would be great. Or do I have to send it in for repair or something?
So has anyone managed to fix this? Anyone tried a hard reset?
I have no idea how to diagnose the issue and even whether it's a software or hardware fault.
Jasjam- Same here
Also my screen turnes white some times

I'm also having these problems with the front buttons not working. Very frustrating. The problems seem to be platform independent.
I really cannot believe this. When I used the search function I noticed so many people are having these problems with the TyTN, and no resolve.
It's my second machine I received from HTC, first one also had these problems.
HTC sucks BIGTIME.
I've seen someone post about this issue before, but I can't find it anywhere now. No matter what rom I run on my 8525, my softkeys (ok, call, hangup, contact) just quit working out of no where. I can turn the display off with the power button and back on, then they start working again for a while. Then they'll quit working again at random. Anyone have a clue what I can try to fix this. It's driving me crazy!!!!!

I suspect hardware. Could be the d-pad circuit or just the d-pad connector being loose.
Mike
But why would it start working again after turning the screen off and on? That sounds like a software issue to me. I'm just not sure at this point.
This is very odd but the start, "ok", green phone, and red phone buttons on the bottom-front of my phone no longer work at all. Oddly the front "wheel" works though. Has anyone had this issue before that knows how to solve this? Is there somewhere where these buttons are set in the registry by chance? Any help is GREATLY appreciated for this is a very annoying problem.
the u/2 button stopped working and starts randomly pressing itself every time i turn it on... and it randomly presses itself during texting as well and the u/2 button doesnt work its kinda getting annoying now.... can any one help or have any suggestions on what to do.... thanks
any ideas?
u/2 ...? What is that...?
It's probably similar to what happened to my Toshiba laptop. I'd get a pattern of letters/symbols when typing on it, because the case/keyboard screws were too tight and it spontaneously would generate these signals. I'd bet something smacked your keyboard or it was pressed too hard and something broke inside.
It's probably not user repairable, at least not easily, and probably a warranty workable item. Flash back to the stock ROM and send it in, especially if this only occurs when using the slider keyboard.
Hope it helps, even if it is bad news.

the u button on the keyboard.... and i dont have warrenty on it because i bought it off ebay and i live in canada its a tmobile phone. theres no way i can fix it? like it presses itself when i turn the screen on and sometimes when im writing texts.... but the actual "u" button doesnt work when pressed
It can be fixed, but I don't think it will be easy. That is, if it is similar to what I am thinking. If you're daring, or desperate, you can try disassembling the unit to see if something is cut or pinched, causing a short.
Is anyone here familiar with the hardware side of this unit?

I think it doesnt make a good contact with the mainboard.
If you press the button, does it feel different then other buttons..?
Otherwise it could be alot of things but the best thing to do is to take it to your carrier store.
Maybe they could do something for you.
nope the button feels just like any other button when i turn off the screen and turn it on it dials 2 a few times... and when i text sometimes the u button repedetly comes on the screen.... =( its so annoying
Sometimes when my topaz is off, it won't turn back on or wake up. I know this isn't a problem with the button because it also doesn't respond to phone calls or charging. The only way to fix it is to reset it by pressing the red button. This is really frustrating since I will miss calls etc. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? Please Help!
