LCD to VGA
Hi,
check this out.
These chips where used to generate VGA output on evaluation boards for PXA270 embedded designs.
If you like to mod the universal hardware with one of these chips...
...you must be a soldering genius
Cheers,
scholbert
Wow.. that's a good thing! But if I would try to make such project it will become a 1m² breadboard, not really portable)
Let's wait if some other would

Thanks for this info, I appreciate it
Search in expansys, sometime back it was informed that there is some Bluetooth RS232 port, which directly connects to projector..and works with all WM devices

i need a pda-phone that recognises handwriting (in landscape format) and that will let me install ibm's viavoice 10 for usb. bluetooth and triband would be nice bonuses. such a device doesn't seem to be available on the commerical market. can anybody build this for me??
XDA II
Perhaps the new XDA II, which is coming out before Christmas (O2), is what you need.
if 2003 dont support that kind of writing and there are no 3th party tool which add this support then a programmer with some time on his hands could make it
not sure about the ibm viavoice thing with me not knowing what it is and all
but XDA is an usb peripherals not a master so you cant connect devices to it like you can a pc
the xda2 have bluetooth and sd SDIO

thanks rudegar. any idea where i could find such a programmer? (btw: viavoice is voice recognition software. version 10 is really pretty good. especially useful for longer papers - 2-3 times faster than typing).
not really since pocketpc use mfc which is the libs many normal windows programmers use many people got the skills to make programs for pocketpc
you could try here
http://www.codeguru.com/forum/
about the ibm thingy then maybe they got a converter to make it work with
sd SDIO port og maybe they'll make it in a SD versions that is if it's not going to work because the XDA cant handle usb peripherals
maybe there is another way around this i dont know
also the XDA dont support SDIO but the XDA2 will
also maybe there are other voice recognition software packs for a normal PDA with pocketpc of cause they may not be as good
thanks rudegar for the codeguru tip. nobody has written me back, so i'm starting to think it may just be impossible to link serious voice recognition software to a reliable pda-phone. will report if i do find a solution. best. c.
i think i recall somebody saying that 2003 support horizoltal display support on the pda
think somebody said that there were a tool to do it with 2002 but you had to softreset it when you wanted to change back and forth
not sure if text recognition would work while the display were horizoltal
but i dont see why not
How the title shows a good DJ Software on MDA PRO, the price is not important!
Thank you very much!
When you say DJ Software I guess you mean MP3/WMV mixing?
Haven't found one but...
For audio composing there is the - what looks to be brilliant - Audio Box Micro Composer 1.1
go to http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=21156 to read more & download a trial
another cool looking prog is Griff

yes indeed.. Phoenixstudio is similar to the above 'mobile recoding studio' packages I mentioned... but now I've got the bug for a decent DJ Mixing solution...
anyone??
I've also been looking for something like this. I'm using Virtual DJ on my laptop based on an older product which, if recoded, should be able to work on the pocket pc, as its requirements weren't that great.
If I find out something more, I'll post here.
I just found this. THis may be what you are looking for.

don't know if this was already covered, but does the VGA port output a standard 640x480 when using WM?
It doesn't appear to... which is a shame.
Good question one for the FAQ
no when using she shift with an external monitor it outputs vista on the external monitor and wm on the internal

I have a JasJar, used in Wireless reporting for our Police Dept. in Johnson City TN. I purchased this unit for an officer who needed a larger screen. However, our custom software will not run full screen. The software is designed I assume, for VGA, not QVGA. Our vendor has not yet opted to design their software for a single device. So I am stuck with a JasJar that runs our application in just ¼ of the screen. Would anyone have a solution to force our application to take advantage of the entire screen?
Thanks in advance,
Sgt. John Hames

May be install realVGA to swith windows on 96dpi (for 640x480) because by default, the HTC universal WM is configured in 192dpi (QVGA print size on VGA)
See here:

Thanks for the reply. I can't seem to find a WM5 realVGA download. I tried two downloads, but appear to be specifically for WM6. does not do anything on the JASJAR. Also tried ozvga but just made everything super tiny.

Upgrade to WM6???
Search this forum for Ozvga This was a large topic about 18 months to 2 years ago. Worked well on WM5. IIRC, it was switchable between VGA and QVGA
Is it possible, to see the Windows Mobile Screen on an external Display? Windows Vista works fine.
I´m using a Shift with i00-ROM-Deploy-20090309.
Thanks in advance.
It should be possible
Hi,
I own a Shift and a HTC Advantage.
The Advantage has a shortcut in settings "TV out"
The mini usb adapter that came with the Advantage makes it possible to connect it to an external monitor.
I have used it quite often in the past.
Works perfectly.
The IOO rom does not come with the plugin "TV out" so you will probably have to search the forum.
You might want to check out the XDA forum for the HTC Advantage also called "Hermes"
Good luck.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think it is possible as VGA-Out is controlled by Intel GMA chipset, fisical connections and drivers are only acting on Vista side.
When you trigger from one os to another you change from GMA950 to Windows Mobile integrated graphics.
The only solution comes into my mind is to connect your Windows Mobile to Vista through Activesync then install some programs that allows you to see Windows Mobile side from Vista (Windowed) and that's it you will use Vista side on External monitor.
Good luck!
You mean something like Pocket Controller, right? This is of course an other good alternative.

Install MyMobile that allows you to view your WinMob on Vista in a Window. Now Attach External Display to the Shift and move the WinMob Window that is on Vista to external display.

I guess that my answer is about a year late, but I'am also interested in coonnecting the WMobile Shift part to a TV. Looking at MSM7200 specification I see that there is an unconnected pin U4 with the output composite TV signal.
I'm kooking for a guy with firm hand and eagle eyes, who'll solder this sigle wire and get the TV-out capabiblities.
Hope that he'll share his "technological secrets" here
