That looks awesome!
really nice one !
Hey Poorlyduck, how do you use a GIF for the splash screens? The splash screen kitchen that I've been using (from EqX) only had tools to use BMPs for the splash.
Inquiring minds want to know
Oh I found this in one of your other threads. So I guess we can only use PNGs and GIFs for the last splash image (the welcomehead.96.png)? No use of GIFs for the earlier splash screens that you have to flash into the device? Is that correct?
poorlyduck said:
...Pick whichever you like and drag the welcomehead.96.png to storage card or my document in ur PDA then use resco explorer or total commander to move it to windows directory, allow the new file to overwrite the original one.
Note: dont try to move the image directly from your computer to your device windows directory, it wont overwrite the old one due to windows protected files.
I suggest that you backup the original welcomehead.96.png somewhere in your pda in case you want to use it again one day without hard reseting.

You can convert the .gif in .png with XnView.
Rename in welcomehead.96.png
Copy this in the windows directory
My question : Is there a way to change the screen that comes before the splash screen on an ASUS P535 ????
Some devices have an "animated.gif" inside the Windows directory. Just replace that one with this one to get the animation on boot.
Don't know if it works on all devices, i think it depends on some application by HTC but i'm not sure.

Yeah, just copy the file to your \Windows folder then use a reg editor to change the following key,
HKLM>Software>HTC>StartupAnimation and change the GIFFile target to point to poorlyduck's new file:
GIFFile = \windows\poorlyducwindowsglobewg2.gif
I've created a cab package for ease of use and included another Black HTC Animated Screen.
i use P535 and i serch for the famous animated.gif...
but can 't exist on Asus p535...
I ve found the shutdown.gif but the splash screen before welcomehead.96.png does no exist in this format... .gif...
Anybody have an idea...

I'm trying to use it in S2U2, but it is just showing as a black background. All my other animated gif's work fine. Anyone know what I'm missing here?
Edit: Weird. A couple of resets and now it is working.
Cool

Flashed it straight away, beautifull dude
I have SKTools Registry Explorer. How do you movie it over to replace the old one? Is it possible to rename and modify the registry to acquire it?

Hi Dan,
Just downloaded the MARVELLOUS Splash screens you have uploaded in you thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420028
and you have also said "i use it with advanced configuration tool v3.0 for the splash screen.
hope you like it", I am using Advance Configuration 3 as well and tried to browse the image under the splash > Operator > Startup image & restarted 3 times but nothing has been changed.
I am using original O2-United Kingdom 1.93 Rom, do I have to do something special for Advance Config to change the startup picture ??
Can you advice please ?
Regards
Sid
Nice work thanks for sharing.
Can i ask how exactly we are supposed to apply these as splashscreens?

go to the option splash screen -> ms splash screen on startup -> and select your image file -> thats all
Important: Copy the image at first to my device/my document NOT to the internal storage!!

to use them to replace your operator splash you have to flash them i believe..
there are 3 startup images in total:-
1. The Operator Logo (flash to chage it)
2. The HTC Startup animation (replace gif to change it)
3. Windows Mobile Start Splash (again, replace png file)
i did some work a while back:-

Hi there, sorry for getting back late...
To Build an image to flash you need some tools:-
1. NBHUtil (Win Tool to build NBH files)
2. nbimg (DOS Tool to Convert BMP to nb image files)
wait..... JUST FOUND THIS....See here:-
no point in repeating....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412796
I've found how to modify the background of the "Menu".
First find the file Launcher.exe.T1.skin in \windows.
Then you must copy the file to your PC and open it (I've used Reshacker).
Then replace the images BMP No 212, 214 (for portrait mode) and No 213 and 215 (for landscape mode) with other bitmap images of the size respectively 240x374 and 400x214.
Finally overwrite it in \windows with Resco Explorer (or similar).
This is mine (as per attechet file)

Really great work, thanks
That's fantastic! Will give it a go later.
If theres a way to change the font color, it will be great !!
Is there also a way to change the collor off the bottem taskbar?
For those who are curious, these are some of the png images hidden in the Launcher.exe.T1.skin file (extracted on a mac with filejuicer and made a screenshot of the generated HTML file)
That's cool. Which program can I use for PC? And I managed to change the background but I'm still looking into changing the font colour.

Doesn't ResHacker allow you to extract or replace the menu png files as well?
No, for the PNGs, all I see is Hex code. I can only replace the Bitmaps.
Anyway thanks to the thread at MoDaCo I managed to find "secstresSilver96.dll" and "secstresBlack96.dll" in \Windows\ and all I did was rename it to "secstres96.dll" on my PC and using Resco Explorer or TotalCmd copy it back to the device and reselect Samsung Today 2 in the Today items and its done, you have a new Today menu, and you can change the fonts colour under settings\theme.

You could try the 30 day trial version of resource tuner it supports png files as well:
http://www.heaventools.com/resource-tuner.htm
BTW the font color in the theme settings doesn't apply to the samsung main menu unfortunatelly
Hi,
is there a way to put other program shortcuts you want onto the menu or in exchange with other programs that you do not or seldom use?
Thank You!
Wow! This really works for my omnia!
It'll be perfect if someone can work out a way to change the font colors too
Hope someone can figure out this very soon!
Cheers!
Ok, I've done the whole procedure up to the last step. Resco tells me that the file "Launcher.exe.T1.skin" is in ROM and I could damage the phone by trying to overwrite the file???
Am I to understand that in order for this to work one needs to have it burned in a modified ROM ???
Haven't played with this burning ROM stuff so not sure if my reasoning is right? I have the I2 ROM version so no need until now to change it.....
Thanks
I suggest you to copy the original file Launcher.exe.T1.skin somewhere in My Storage and then safely overwrite the file that Resco indicates be a ROM file. It's normal that there is this alert.
Nop! Tried that and Resco tells me it couldn't overwrite because the file already exists. So it IS in the ROM..... Well, one day I'll update my ROM and change this file at the same time. Right now I see too many people loosing their Omnia trying to burn new ROM versions. But thanks anyway.

For gomez77, you can take it here :

It's the "Themes/Skins for Samsung Today 2 : Silver".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417825

this themes/skin changing only icons on today screen , main menu background its still white and icons its still color check this video in 04:21 main menu its black and all icon its white or grey i trying do it same effect
Lol, you have the icons, now you just need to search for a 240x400 black background, that's not hard to find.
Edit : Oops sorry, i understand that what you want, you want to change the menu icons and the background, not change the today screen.
Than, i think you need to extract and edit the menu icons on photoshop, or somthing like that, because the menu icons not available with the same look of the today icons.
Update: using PE Explorer I managed to change the icons. I attach the file with the icons changed and I thank my friend Duncan for the support.
I attach the new file I've used as for screenshot
Hey guys,
I replaced the ugly green WM6-Bootscreen (the one after the HTC Logo-Animation) with the original HTC-Screen.
Attention! The cab HAVE TO BE installed into the internal Memory, not the SDHC so on...
This is compatbile with HD only!!
After installation is complete, you have to soft-reset you HD.
If you wish to deinstall, everything will be like before without any clutter.
Have fun!

When I try and replace the original welcomehead file with another it tells me I cannot copy the file, Access is denied.
I've tried using Total Commander with no luck
Perfect!! HTC's simple logo as a screen replacement is a smart idea, not a geek screen with "I love my HD" on a crappy picture : your way it stays sober, 5*
I personally don't bother using a cab for this, though I do like D-Jays splash screen.
I use the attached explorer and replace the 'welcomehead.192.png' file located in /windows
I backed up the original file first obviously
I have also attached my current splash screen. Obviously not to everyones taste and extension needs changed from .jpg to .192.png

There are plenty of threads for wallpapers and today screen images. Would it be possible to start a thread for custom splash screens and startup animations? I have found a couple that are definite improvements over the stock stuff. Maybe some of the more creative people show off their shoop skills and make some? What does everyone think?
Splash Screen:
If not I have added the tools necessary for it in this:
Download
Quick walkthrough on how to use the tools:
1.Create your own bmp splash screen.
2.Use the tool in folder Number 1 rsbbmp, add the file and convert to rsb format.
3.Open the tool called Splash-RSB Converter Convert and save you should have a .nb file.
4. Open folder labeled Number 2 Use the tool and do da following:
-Target device POLARIS.
-On model ID instead of POLA change to DIAM.
-On version replace the Polaris part to Diamond.
-Leave the rest the same.
On the right side go to: splash and select the .nb file you created.
Hit Build NBH
ALL SET now you have a flashable file.
5. Open the last folder labeled 3.
There you will find the flashing tool.
Its easier and faster(less than a minute) to flash directly from internal memory like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707841&postcount=4035
Flash and you are done. Like making a little ROM.
PS: If you **** up your device dont blame me all at your own risk.
All credits go to tool creators (you guys kick some serious ass thanks)
Enjoy.

rename your gif to :animated.gif and put in windows.
use diamondtweak to enable the animation or use totalcomander
and set the registry in:
HKLM\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation:
Code:
Enabled (DWord) : 1
in HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation:
StartupGif:\Windows\animated.gif
this should work

Install Advance confitoguration and change the animation time .
I took the animation from udK's latest ROM and made the T jump, added the diamond and also put the whole process in reverse order. I notice the difference in the black from the diamond surrounding to the rest, now I'm seeing it on my home PC - rather than work. This is not noticed when on phone. But I hope to change this next week.
