Hi All,
I think this is my first thread on xda-developers; I have searched for this, but didn't find an answer. Either its too easy, or its impossible
My device for some reason has decided to lock me out, I have entered the PIN three times and don't want to risk hiting the 5 times and having it reset to factory defaults.
Is there anyway to bybass the PIN request, at least so I can get my files out of there before it resets?

So, my Windows live account got screwed and went to infinite syncing loop and I will probably need to hard reset the phone to get rid of it (which sucks without backup possibility), so I have couple questions and since I didnt found direct answer to them, I am starting this thread (delete it if its answered elsewhere please).
1. If I reset the phone from WP7 menu in settings, I will probably have to unlock and install everything from scratch, right?
2. I read somewhere, that if I remove battery when phone is on, it will hard reset and I will have to do unlock etc.?
3. Is there a way how to reset the phone without loosing apps and their data? I gues it is not, but I will ask anyway
perform a simple soft-reset by pressing the red button underneath the battery-cover.
And what will this do? How does the soft reset act in WP7? And what about the battery removal.
Well, seem that nobody is interested in this topic, but anyway. I have tried to reset phone from menu and hard reset the phone. It seems, that hard reset also formats memory card again, while reset from menu just erases all data. I also tried to remove the battery when phone was running and nothing was deleted. Just if anyone is interested
I have just wiped and upgraded my Galaxy s4 to 4.4.2. I would like to fully encrypt my phone and use pattern unlock so I followed this article:
(just google pattern-unlock-an-encrypted-android-phone, I can't post URL)
But even though I have tried this multiple times and unplugged the USB cable (as mentioned in the article) as soon as I hit enter to start the encryption command the screen goes black on the phone and then after about 10min the phone reboots to the unlock screen and it is still unencrypted. I have tried following other articles too but they are all the same in terms of the command you run to encrypt the phone.
Any ideas? How can I get pattern unlock to work with an encrypted Android phone? Yes I know you can't do this via the GUI but then you need to enter a silly long password every single time you want to unlock the phone which is not an option for me. I don't mind entering a long password when turning on the phone but when it comes to unlocking the phones lock screen I would like to use the pattern unlock.
Any one else had any success with this on 4.4.2? Thanks!

Flash a different stock 4.4.2 . maybe its missing some files.
Every time i start up the phone i get a short boot animation , then have to input a pin number and after that the phone continues to boot.
I would like to remove this option, but cannot find anything on the phone to reset this, a search on the net also did not help.
If anyone knows how to remove this, thanks !

You just have to remove your Pin in settings, and when you apply a Pin/lock again, you choose 'No' when the interface asks you again for the Startup Pin Hope this helps
Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is a Tab A question, a Samsung question, an Android question, or a Marshmallow question.
I have an older tablet (SM-P350 with stylus) that I haven't been using a lot and I have forgotten the unlock pattern I was using. I am able to log in using the backup PIN, which I do remember, but I have to make several failed attempts to draw the pattern before I am prompted to enter the PIN. I'd like to start using the tablet more, but I don't want to have to do this every time.
I went to the security settings to change my login, but under "Screen lock type," it prompts me for my pattern, and after a failed attempt, it tells me I have to wait 45 minutes to try again! I am not given the option of entering the PIN. So I can't change the pattern OR change the screen lock type without knowing the old pattern! Does anyone know how I can use the backup PIN to do this?
As a last resort, I decided to do a factory reset. When I tried to do so from the menu, it prompted me for the security pattern!
I've tried twice to use the power and volume down buttons to reset, but I don't seem to be able to get to the recovery menu.
Now I can't log in to shut down and try again, because it's telling me I have to wait an hour!
And finally, one additional complicating factory is this: the tablet has been rooted -- not by me, but by the previous owner.
What can I do?
Hi,
I have bought the Tesla style head unit from KIRINAVI shop on ALIEXPRESS. It has been working fine for months.
Few days ago I wanted to update the software, so I looked in the factory settings section, where options are labeled with bad translation, I clicked on one setting which I don't remember the title any more and suddenly the screen was locked and asked me to enter a passcode to access the unit! All attempts to enter passwords or pin did not work.
Rebooting or resetting using a pin works but I am stuck with a passcode challenge.
So I think the best way to solve this is to reset to factory settings. How can I do that without being able to access the settings or anything in the unit??
Does anyone know if it is possible to do a factory reset on this unit through accessing the recovery mode maybe?
The seller is of no help. I searched everywhere on the net and on this forum and could not find an answer.
I did manage to update the software by downloading the XY files and putting them on a u stick thumb while resetting with a pin.
Unfortunately even after the update the screen lock was still there.
Any help is appreciated.
