I'm trying to upgrade my rom to wm6 via a SD card by following the instructions on the wiki. The bootloader will scan my SD card but comes up with and Invalid Certificate error and won't start the upgrade.
Any ideas anyone? Could this be because I have not been able to run CID unlock? Unfortunately my USB is u/s for anything other than charging (hence the SD route anyway).
TIA

i have a recent boot loader so i need to use XDArit to write a card that will allow me to backup my rom right.
so i downloaded XDArit, the boot loader patch, ran XDArit, put in my MM card, pointed it to my usb SD reader, pointed it to the .nb2 file, and told it to write
it comes up with this error (even after rebooting into explorer):
failed to open device \\.\physicalDrive10
what am i to do? is it that you must use SD cards not MM cards?
just trying to think of possible issues, could it be the SD card reader is plugged into my keyboard and not directly into a motherboard USB port?
Hey there cerberos,
Try the older version of XDArit.
It's also best to have the reader plugged directly into your mainboard.
yes the older version of XDArit worked, thank you
XDArit wont read the card though after i've backed the device to it
Try following:
- write something to your SD with xdarit and leave xdarit working
- backup xda ROM to SD
- read it from SD with XDARit.
I experience the same problem: XDARit fails to read SD until it writes something to it first. Old and new versions are the same.
I tried this and received an error message that "the drive was not a removable drive and would probably overwrite a harddrive...okay?"
There are 5 choices in the drop down menu of drives. All give the same result.

well with the new one i get an error of failed to read device 4, which is strange as the reader appears to be device 14
Hello, GREAT FORUM!
I have installed 4.01.16 ROM from lumpistefen kitchen. It's working normal, but a little buggy for me and i wonna to return to my origial 3.17 O2 ROM (i have nk.nbf).
But i can't do it from XDATools directly. The only way, as i see, is update from bootloader. I haven't SD card reader, so i write my 3.17 ROM with XDATools on 128 Mb SD card, using builtin XDA SD card slot.
Then i restart XDA to bootloader (press power+soft reset), which shows me following on the screen:
Wallaby Bootloader
5.15
GSM OK
That's all! What should i do next? How can i start re-flashing?
Can it be bootloader problem? Can it be solved fixed with pnewbootloader from XDAUtilities package (from XDA-Developers). Or i can make my device not loadable at all?
One remark: After rebooting WM2003 promt me to format my SD card to make it readable. Is it correct? Or there are some problems in SD card writting process..
Please, give me some ideas, what should i do! How can I re-flash my ROM?
I had a similar problem. I tried using XDATools to write a ROM to my SD card but when rebooting-with power key.. it went to the diagnostics screen directly. So I used XDArit1.exe to write to the SD card and this time the XDA recognised the image on the SD card and went into the SD Download screen. But to do this I had to borrow an SD Card reader from a friend.. Oh Also. I did make sure I had Bootloader 5.15 before I did this.
I have problem with upgrading windows via SD card. I found out that if I make a test of SD card in Wallaby Bootloader 5.15, everytime I get "TEST ERROR". I tried many times with different cards.
Could you try the test, and let me know if it is "normal", when SD card test fail.
How to do that: powerbuttotn + softreset -> wallaby bootloader -> hit (main) cursor key -> choose SD card TEST.
Maybe this is why I cannot upgrade with SD card. Maybe SD slot is bad....
Sorry mikulkajan,
but it appears to be your device/card, just tried with my O2 XDA, v5.15 bootloader and a 256MB MMC card and the test came up OK... - just to check the blatently obvious but if using an SD card is it unlocked?

Hi,
Yesterday I tried to obtain a backup of my ROM. I obtain OK in all cheksums after execute the three commands in romupdate.exe. But when I try to read the ROM saved in the SD card to the PC in a DOS window in XP by means ntrw a message says: "incorrect parameter" in spanish... and stops reading without the desired ROM. I obtained a file in D:/XDAIIi.nb1 with 490Mb (size of SD card).
How can I read or pass the ROM in SD card to PC?
Thanks
Dear All
I am attempting to create a backup of a customized extended rom for a Himlayas device. I have followed the procedures, using mtty to copy the extended rom to an sd card. I can then successfully use this sd card to flash a device. My problem lies in making a backup of this sd card to an "image" file on a hard disk, with the aim of replicating it to other cards.
I am using the ntrw.exe program, and recieve the (apparently) expected 'parameter is incorrect' when copying the rom file to the hard disk using :-
i.e
ntrw read romfilename.rom j:
When I use the ntrw program to write the file back to an sd card, i do not recieve a 'parameter is incorrect' message. When I place this newly created card into a device, nothing occurs (it just sits with 'Serial' and the bootloader version displayed.)
I have tried this using different brands/sizes of sd cards, and on XDA2 devices with 1.03 and 1.06 bootloaders, getting the same result. I have also tried a similar program (rawwrite dd for windows) to create an image, once again with the same result.
Can anyone please provide advice?
