problem with resco contact manager
Hey guys, I have a problem with RCM. Everything works just fine until I select to write an sms - the default WM sms writer launches. The same with making/receiving a call - whenever I press "call mobile/work" or the green button on my HTC, it switches to the WM default phone :/
I've even tried hard reset and it just won't help. :/
the same thing happens when I try to edit a contact - default editor launches.
I have no mods, simply WM 6.1, HTC (xda polaris).
please, help me :/

Security Tools (Ping, Traceroute, Whois, Port Testing)

This is a 1.0 release and is looking for people to try it out. The application allows for pinging a host, trace the path to a host, do Whois lookups on domain names, and even test ports. You can download it from http://www.securenetworksystems.com/SecurityTools/ and can get a demo license from http://www.securenetworksystems.com/SecurityTools/demo.aspx that will give you a week of testing the software. The image below shows a trace that is mapped out.
We are releasing this for testing before it goes up for sell, so any productive feedback is appreciated. Please note that full installation size is around 45MB (due to a database size), so it is a good idea to verify you have enough space on your phone/device or install to a storage card.

Enhanced: Finger control for the map (larger zoom buttons).
Fixed: Scaling issues for VGA/WVGA (large screens) in the port testing section and in the setup wizard.
Fixed: An error in setup wizard if Device is selected for tile cache location.
Fixed: If a service returned special characters (such as SSH) in port testing during a single port test, the entire message would not be displayed. The message is now shown without the characters that can’t be displayed.

I just added some additional picture so you can see some of the other cool functions of the application. The only thing that isn't shown here is the WHOIS lookup. Hope everyone is enjoying the free trial.

Nice tool to do simple troubleshooting while on the road.
The Whois gives a lot of garbage. It should search for the exact match. If people want more sites that aren't exact matches, wildcards should be used. Instead, a Whois for google.com gives no relevant data, and you have to do another search to get the info. The search gives things like google.com.zzzzz.download.movie.online.zml2.com, as well as addresses to porn sites.

3D-Interface for Windows P7 - Work-Shop

I started some Workshop about Future of Mobile Windows Devices for
- Interface and OS and
- Hardware-Sugegstions
and i want to invite all of you to be Part of this and add your Concepts, Comments and Ideas.
In my Powerpoint-Presentation i worked out some Concept for A 3D-Interface for Explorer, Messaging, Filereader and some Applications-Manager (instead of A Homescreen). Here is the Link, this is about 20MB, because i put in A Lot of Screenshots and Sketches of my Idea.
Within this, you can overview everything on the first View - and there you find Illustrations of an animated graphical 3D-Interface for easy exploring with Thumbnails of everything that is running.
My Idea includes A Concept for making Sessions of what you are doing (opened Programms, Web-Sessions, Multimedia-Sessions, Sessions for Volume, -for Settings, so that you can share whole Devices at once, ...).
Everything is presented to you in horizontal-moving Rings with Icons Rows and Thumbnails of Folders-Content:

When flashing does the language go straight to chinese or is it in English?

Clock is truly missing (how about this in Chrome?)!

I do not know how about you but I am missing simple/constant/bulit in clock in Modern UI mode.
In desktop mode (unless you hide taskbar) clock is always there for you in the right bottom corner...
In Modern UI we can add Clock Tile but it is not the same. As soon as you start an app it is gone .
I know there are many apps (like games) that (as in full screen desktop) will not display and should not display such an information. However apps like Mail, browser, etc. , let say all productivity ones should.
Any chances to get extension (perhaps one of you can write it?? ) that will display clock in Chrome when fired up in Modern UI mode as show on the picture:

It's Metro's design language--having an ascetic interface with as little "chrome" as possible for a clean look. Having an on-screen clock would go against that.
There are a number of issues with Metro--one is the lack of visual hints that impedes discoverability, thereby decreasing user-friendliness. Constant-updating Live Tiles also run counter to the clean UI that ostensibly was for minimizing distractions.
One major complaint with Metro of course is that it's incomplete, and needs to invoke the desktop for many functions. The other biggie is the "business decision" of forcing Metro on users, and not allowing boot-to-desktop.
My personal beef against the Metro design is its use of horizontal scrolling for the main UI elements, notably the Start Screen and many of the Bing apps. Ergonomically, horizontal scroll is less efficient than vertical scroll, especially for text. Secondly, it limits the tablet to landscape mode, which is probably the intent, as all (16:9) Windows tablets work poorly in portrait. Fine for media, poor for readers or web surfing, or any use that involves long text.
Getting back to your point, Metro is as mentioned an incomplete implementation, and hopefully the next rev will expand on its functionality. I don't think a clock on the start screen is in the cards, however.
More intriguing is the possibility of a 3rd-party shell that can replace Metro at some point down the road. Assuming this touch UI thing doesn't flop completely on Win, I think that'll happen.
