Customise Quicktasks Menu - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to enable the quiktasks menu to open in different programs? If so can you help me? I would like "new appointment" and "new task" to open in the appropriate place in Agenda One instead of the default Calendar and Tasks.Would be very much appreciated if anyone can help.

customize these registry keys:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\ActionScreen\APP_*]
* = 0-6

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yeah I tried playing around there with no luck.Can you suggest what the parameter would be? I have agenda one on a storage card and tried \Storage card\Program Files\Agenda One.exe for the path but it still goes straight to the default calendar.

You'll need to do a soft reset before changes to the registry take effect.

Yeah I did soft reset after changes. I'm afraid I'm going to have to be helped with simple instructions re parameters and path details. This has been done before right?

for Path, suggest to try to point to the .lnk under \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ (the exact folder name may not be "Start Menu" and "Programs", as mine is a Chinese version)
sorry i hv no idea on actual parameters for Agenda One as i haven't used it before.
um... re whether can directly go into "create new appointment" instead of just launching the Agenda One program, you'll need to refer to the software manual/support to see whether the application supports such a command line parameter. if you already have a shortcut (.lnk) in Start menu to create a new appointment, it may be more convenient to directly launch this .lnk.

Unable to get it to work. Thanks for your help anyway.

\Storage card\Program Files\Agenda One.exe is wrong. The correct Path is :
\Storage card\Program Files\Agenda One\Agenda One.exe You forget the "Agenda One" sub folder.
And in Param, you have to indicate new task or new appointment and it will work perfect as on my Touch Dual

s3a......You are the Man. Thank you very much for your help.As you said works perfectly.Easy when you know how.

2 questions... ringtone storage and today screen

first is there a way to store ringtones on the storage card... when you assign a ringtone the file is copied to a directory on the main memory, I'm sure there's a registry hack to change this.
second is there a way to add any prog shortcut to the today screen?
I searched before I posted and didn't come up with anything.
The first:
Use Total Commander to navigate to HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\
Open Directory, a new window should pop up now, containing the current location for ringtones
Change the value to wherever you want to store your ringtones, for example \Storage Card\
Soft reset your device by holding the Power button for 5 seconds.
(from www.htcwizardweb.net)
P.S. I'm not suceeded to replace Rings folder. Maybe you will.
The second:
Install the application like iLauncher or for example O2 Plus plug-in to add shortcuts on to today.
thanks for the reply, It looks like ilauncher is worth $10. and I'll also try that reg hack later. I appreciate your help thank you.
check out PHM tray launch. Its free and will let you add program icons to teh system tray at teh bottom of teh today screen. Its on here somewhere.

Place the ringtones in storage card\my documents then they will be displayed in phone\sounds\ringtone list.
The reg hack quoted does not work.
Use claunch - its free, for shortcut icons to programs etc... http://home.pacific.net.sg/~welic/claunch.html
cool the ringtone thing worked, and i'll check out claunch, thank you very much.
by the way does anyone know how to delete the account "outlook e-mail" or "hotmail" this is very annoying when I'm trying to switch between my configured gmail account and text messages.
well i figured out how to get rid of the hotmail one but not the outlook one

Mapping iContacts to dialer possible?

I am using the Nargz iPhone eten dialer, and I need to know how to map the iContacts exe to the dialer contacts button during calls, any ideas? Thanks
Ive already tried this but I guess it doesnt work for dialer skins:
* Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS
* Change "String 1" value from :MSPOUTLOOK contacts to "\Program Files\iContact.exe". (or wherever you installed the icontacts.exe to)

Thanks, Memmaid was never able to see that string but I finally decided to use a different registry editor and Im good to go...
is there a way to do this for Mobile Shell's Contacts?
I'm not sure about that one. Have you tried looking in \Windows to see if there is an .exe file to run mobile shell? let me give it a try...i'll get back to you
Well...I'm unable to try it on the 6700 because I'm running a 6800 and I don't know if it will be the same
Hi, just downloaded i-contacts, and looks quite nice, as do a few other 3rd party contacts list. But I was just wondering does the string above basically re-map the contacts soft-button to open i-contacts instead of outlook contacts? Or is there a way to do this. IE, just want to make i-contacts (or something similar) my default program, rather than having to open it from programs every time. Just lazy I guess.
****Forget that, iContacts has done it automatically after a few soft resets *****

Adding Programms to "TF3D-Programs-Tag"

Hello,
i think it's just a simple problem, but i couldn't solve it till now lol.
On the one hand there's the program-path on windows, and on the other hand there's another on tf3d, which u can reach by the tf3d icons (2 pics to show at attachments).
I just wanna know how to add programs to the way with tf3d. Or isn't that possible?
Just click on the empty gray icon with a plus in it. Then you get the "add program" dialogue.
well ye, i'm sorry, my bad english in this thread is leading for missunderstandings.
U r right ofc, but that's not my problem. I meant how to add programs which r not in the list!
So for example: i installed mobile navigator and i wanna have the program in that path. There're just about 10 programs in the list and no button like 'add more programs'.

I see.
I think the list of "Add programs" applications comes from the \windows\start menu\programs directory.
So, if you want to add a program to TF3D program Tab you first need to copy a short-cut link to the program into the above directory.
UPDATE: It looks like the TF3D collects all programs in the \windows\start menu directories (not just the "Programs" directory). So, make sure there is a link to the application you want somewhere there.
Then, add using the empty grey icon. Finally, if you wish, delete the link to the file.
thx for ur answer, but it didn't solve the problem. As it seems, it hasn't anything to do with each other. The files in \windows\start menu\programs r just for the start-menu, and the files in \windows\start menu\ i dunno what they r for. Neither putting an app in the first, nor putting it in the second path causes anything.
I had a closer look at the folders in the \windows folder, but didn't found anything which could have to do with touchflo!
The most important thing i noticed:
When i go for the icon on touchflo, first there's the screen which program i wanna start. Now i can tab on the 'plus' which normaly therefor is used to add more programs, such as everyone would expect it. Normally so far! but now: in the next screen (look attached pic #2 from first post) there's no dialoge like 'add more applications' (like i said before). So the only way to fix this problem is about windows. But there's no folder i saw. I think finding the right place for the apps is the only way to fix it.

Hi, sorry it did not work - we need a better expert to understand this than me !
clearly TF3D is getting a list of possible applications from somewhere. I thought this was the \windows\start menu directory.
I don't know where else - maybe the registry, etc ???
well, me neither, else i wouldn't have started this topic.
I wondered founding nothing with the search function. I can't believe that i'm the only one with this question. In my opinion the function of that "Apps-Site" is a luxurious advantage of the phone, also having the fact to reach it that simply by tf3d, and not over the start-menu.
But, i really dunno how to fix it... registry could be a possibility, but i dunno much about it, so i'll keep my hands out of it, at least with self-testing..
Well, maybe another one can help me?
Ok, i concentrated on the registry now, but didn't find anything which could have to do with my problem.
So no1 can help me with this problem?

This is the way it should (and does) work.
Adding a shortcut to the windows\startmenu(\programs) folder will also show the application in the WM program path, so check there to verify if you added an application shortcut or perhaps did something else.
Also make sure you don't have more than 6 programs added to the Windows\Startmenu folder itself as it will not work properly otherwise.
If I understand the problem correctly, you want to add a shortcut of a given program in the All Programs list.
Easily done, here's the procedure :
- make sure you have installed the HouMing File Explore Extension ;
- now open File Explorer ;
- search the file you want to see in the All Programs list ;
- touch and hold the file name until a context menu appears ;
- choose 'Send Shortcut to Prog ...' ;
DONE !
Now you can choose your program and add it to the list.
omfg -.-"
i found the solution...when i tried to hit the 'plus' and reached the "all programs" screen, there have been just a few programs, like on my screen showed. I didn't know, that i can scroll down those programs!!! The whole time i thought, there would be just these 10 programs.
So the only problem was not knowing that i can scroll in that screen through all those programs...
I'm really sorry for my own stupidness!!!
Thanks to every1 for helping me... *head -> wall*
He he, good news.
I understand entirely. I was surprised ages ago by the tap & hold function !!

Hey you guys this is off subject but it also involves this thread..
ok, so we only have about 30 shortcuts on our programs tab right? well i added more, so now i have up to 51 shortcuts on my programs tab. i click on the extra ones added and everything goes well until after selecting a primary program to add, it doesnt add.
this is what i did.. maybe i missed a step!
Open Regedit and i went to the following root
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher.
i created new folders 31-51 and inside each folder i created the following strings and dword:
String Values Name: Command
String:
String Values Name: DispName
String:
String Values Name: IconPath
String:
String Values Name: Path
String:
DWORD Value Name: IsReadOnly
Data : 0
Then i went to the following root:
*HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\totalItemCount.
and i changed the DWORD Data to 51.
i Restarted my phone and i stopped there.
Please advice cause this would be pretty badass if we can keep adding to our programs tab.

Not enough space for progs slots on START menu and 'All Programs' no good - No groups

The new TFL3D on the Diamond 2 is a huge improvement over the old one I have on the Touch Pro.
However one really nagging thing is that the Start Menu replacement screen, although easy to use doesn't have enough slots in there. Also selecting 'All Programs' isn't effective if one has a hundred or more programs, since it's not categorized.
For example I would rather havea button to show all program dealing with the Phone/SMS features. A group for all games. Group for all GPS stuff etc.. Right now it's one big mess of mismash.
Any workaround to this? Either provide more program icon slots in the start menu, or better have a shortcut to Groups so once can place several programs under a group(folder).
Hope to find an answer as I wouldn't want to neglect the touchflo.
thanks
you could use a program such as resco or total commander to make folders and move all your programs into the appropriate folders.
The icons you see in the start menu are only shortcuts, so moving them around will have no effect on the running of the applications.
The location to look at to organise all this on your phone is
\windows\start menu\programs
I think you misunderstood mobiler..
What he wants is to either have more slots in the HTC start menu (maybe possible) or have programs organised in folders under "all programs"
I'm having a similar problem. I'm looking for someone who can point out a link to the original windows' programs list. Then I can put a shortcut in HTC's start menu.. rather than using the confusing "all programs"
so what you want is to have more slots available when you press start. That's what the guy wants ... I never use more than 9 ...

Yes.
Or to have shortcuts to program groups.
Like one slot for all GPS programs. one slot for all Phone programs, one slot for all games.. etc..
Or at least it would have been also easier to have the 'All Programs' long list organized into groups.
see this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=535730 - if I understood corectly (read about 4 times to get the idea ...), this provides 4 columns instead of 3 in the start menu, meaning that you will have 32 slots instead of 24. Be careful, there are bugs.

Organizing TF3D Start Menu
There is another solution to organize your Start Menu better, but its not very convenient as you have to manually change the registry and .
I added folders to my TF3D Start Menu for different categories. When you click on a folder you see the programs that belong to that category, but only in a list, not in the same view as on the Start Menu. See my screenshots to understand better.

1st step:
Create Folders in Windows\Start Menu\Programs. I used Backup, Configuration, Games, Navigation
2nd step:
Copy the links of the programs you want to have under Backup, Configuration, ... from Windows\Start Menu\Programs into the folder you want to see programs
3rd step:
You need a registry editor to add these folders to your TF3D Start Menu.
The entries are stored under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher.
You will see there keys named 0 to 23. 0 is for the tab that is on the top left of the start menu, 1 is for the tab in the top middle, 3 is the tab in the second row left side, and so on.
Before you change anything here check on which tabs you want to have the folders in the Start Menu. For me it was 12, 13 and 14.
Open the key that you want to be your folder on. There are 5 entries, (Default), DispName, IconPath, IsReadOnly and Path.
DispName and Path are the two you have to change.
In DispName you enter the name you want to see in the Start Menu, e.g. "Navigation".
In Path you enter the path to the folder, e.g. "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Navigation"
4th step:
Close the registry editor and do a SoftReset. Then you will see the folders in the Start Menu.
Additional tips (Not tested by me):
To change the picture of the folder in Start Menu there are 2 possibilities.
1
Put a file named icon.lnk into the folder. The file should link to the picture. For the games folder it is shelres.dll,-8229.
2
Put the link to the picture into the registry entry IconPath
The first tabs on your Start Menu are protected. If you want to place something else there, change the registry entry of 0, 1, 2 and/or 3 IsReadOnly from the value 1 to 0 and you can delete them in TF3D Start Menu and assign other applications to them.
.............EDIT: OOppps, it seems that fellow member "BeeGee_Tokyo" was a few seconds faster than me!!!! He also provided pics to make it easier. Well done!..........................
I feel exactly the same. Tried the 4 rows option but didn't like it at all.
What I did was this:
1. by using Total Commander or Resco Explorer (for R.E. make sure that in the settings you enabled the viewing of all files), go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and you will see all your installed program's shortcuts in there (all the ones you see when you press "all programs"), and create folders in there and move the program shortcuts into the appropriate folders. For example my Programs folder has folders named "System Tools", "Connection Utils", "Utilities", Multimedia", "Office", "Games" etc, with the appropriate program shortcuts inside each folder. Do not leave any program shortcuts in the Programs folder
2. By using a registry editor (search for one), create an entry in the start menu for every folder (see instructions below)
Now you have shortcuts for each folder, and if you press one (ie Games) it opens the folder with the appropriate program shortcuts in it (ie all my games shortcuts that I moved in there from the programs folder in windows).
The method for creating the shortcuts in the start menu through registry, is found on another thread in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508120 , and kudos goes to "prdic" in post 5.
In my example, one registry entry (the "games" one) looks like this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\14
DispName Games
IconPath
IsReadOnly 0
Path \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games\

It should work. Double check if the path is entered correct, that is my only guess. Can you post what you entered in the registry?

However, I feel that Manila start menu will open any folder, but dump every shortcut in root AND subfolders together.. So there's no way to have folders in the list view.
Anyways.. is there a way I can link it to WM's default programs list?

Not sure what you mean with "dump every shortcut in root AND subfolders".
As you can see in my screenshot, when I click on Navigation in Start Menu, I see only the links in the folder Navigation.
For the WM's default program list, the path you enter in the registry would be \windows\Start Menu I guess.

I tried it on my Topaz with the following registry entries:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\19]
"Path"="\windows\Startmenü\programme\spiele"
"DispName"="Spiele"
"IconPath"=""
"IsReadOnly"=dword:00000000
and it works.
I exported the registry key and attached it here. It will put the Spiele folder on tab 19 in the TF3D Start Menu. Unzip it and copy the 19.reg on your phone, and install it (I use Resco File Explorer to install). If you want to change the tab number, open the .reg file with a text editor and change the 19 to the tab number you want.
If this is not working on your Topaz, it might be a problem with Manila. My Manila is 2.0.38149.0 (shown at About on Settings tab)

Shortcuts to Start Menu Folders from Manila Program Launcher - Solution

Hi all
I always wanted to be able to shortcut to start menu folders from within the manila program launcher but unfortunately it was not very straight forward to do.
I found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416092
and I've developed the ideas a little and come up with a cab which will allow you to link to your Connectivity, Games, Multimedia, System Tools and Utilities folders within the Start Menu from the manila program launcher.
First go to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and make sure you have the above folders, if you haven't you can create them. (Although I don't think it will matter if you don't, the shortcuts will just not point you at anything). You can then organise your .lnk files to your liking. If you haven't tinkered with your Start Menu set up already you will find that Games are organised into their own folder and everything else will be pretty much jumbled up. If you just want to shortcut to the Games folder just leave everything else as it is.
Then install the attached cab. This will provide you with a set of shortcut files that can be selected from program launcher as normal. (Thanks to Andrew-in-Woking and this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1782122 for the icons which I used).
I've tested on my Kaiser and TP2 and seems to work fine. Let me know of any issues.
John
Couple of screen shots.....
or in registry point the manila start menu to this...
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\0]
"DispName"=""
"IconPath"=""
"IsReadOnly"=dword:0
"Path"="\windows\startmenu\programs\games"
"Command"=""
this will open games folder within manila startmenu.
But this will only work with the folders in startmenu, not settings.
if you want to map settings you will need to know the right path, i dont remember right now, but it can be done...

You need to search for folderview.exe and open it with parameters if you want to display folders like games in the screenshot..
I'm at work now, if needed i can upload the file and some examples later today.
Good Luck
John Charles (OP), is that WM 6.5 or 6.1 in your screen shots?
It's WM6.5 but the folderview.exe it utilises gives the folder a distinctly 6.1/6 look.
as for a path for settings i don't think there is one. i found control.exe which again gave a 6.1 view to settings but it messed up the icons and wouldn't show today settings. I've lookyed for a similar exe in the wm6.5 windows folder (presumably the one that is executed when the left softkey under the tf3d settings tab is pressed) but i couldn't find anything.
Anyone know what the equivalent exe would be?

I tried the 'extend to 64 icons' addition but ended up removing it because it slowed down the program tab activating too much for me. (Hence finding out about the shortcuts above).
This works on my HD but can't stand the icons. I would prefer to just have a standard folder icon. Anyone know how to change these?
I tried smaberg's approach and I got it to work with some modifications. I have a Sprint TP2 with 6.5 and manila 2.5.2012. Stock ROM but MANY cabs...
I used PHM registry editor to navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\...]
this folder contains folders 0-8 corresponding to placement of the quicklink.
edit each folder for different shortcuts changing these values:
DWORD: "ContactFavorType" = 1566658532 -Decimal
String: "DispName" = (whatever you want the link named)
String: "ExePath" = \windows\start menu\programs\games.lnk (tell it where to find the link you want to use)
DWORD: "HomeServiceType" = 1 -Decimal
String: "IconPath" = (point at whatever icon you want to use.. it works with .ico and .png)
DWORD: "IsSet" = 1 -Decimal
These are the settings that worked for me. Thanks to smaberg for pointing me here.
Hi uhohh
Thanks for the information. Am running a TD2 with WinMo 6.5, Manila 2.5.20113030.0 Stock ROM, Max Manila Themes v3.0 (which allows me up to 20 Quick Links) AND a largish number of .CABS.
I managed to create a shortcut to to Windows\Start Menu\Programs and located it in the Programs folder itself. I used Total Commander to do this and create a 'Programs.lnk'. I then defined a new Quick Link and assigned the Programs shortcut that I found with all the other programs in the usual place.
I used then PHM registry editor to navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\...] and located the relevant folder (which in this case was 11 or 0 - 19, as I have 20 Quick Links defined) and checked the values below that you mentioned in your post:
DWORD: "ContactFavorType" = a unique decimal
String: "DispName" = Programs
String: "ExePath" = \windows\start menu\programs\programs.lnk (it had correctly registered what I told it to)
DWORD: "HomeServiceType" = 1 (Decimal)
String: "IconPath" = \windows\start menu\programs\programs.lnk (not pointing to a .ico or .png...but funnily enough neither are any of the other 19 Quick Links?)
DWORD: "IsSet" = 1 (Decimal)
When I try to use the shortcut I get the error noted in a number of other posts, ie, "Either not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's components cannot be found...".
I am therefore wondering if it has to do with the lack of pointing to a .ico or .png OR that I may be trying to call the Programs folder recursively.
Any thoughts? I would love to get this working as with all the .CABS I have 20 short custs is not enough and so a link to the programs to be able to run infrequently used ones would be the icing on the cake.
I hope that there is wisdom re. this out there!

ya, i'm seeing some other issues with this as well. I was cleaning house and deleting some unused cabs (i thought they were.) It looks like I had a cab that was doing some sort of voodoo. "shortcut to folders in manila.cab" If this cab is running, then it will work. It looks like this cab creates links (*.lnk) in your programs folder that redirects to another folder. ie.. games.lnk will redirect to games folder. You can still rename the link and change the icon with the reg tweaks. Apparently this was running when I set it up cuz it stopped working as soon as I deleted the cab. unfortunately, I'm not yet at a point where i know how to decipher a cab to figure how to do this myself.
