Trying to set up my pop3 email in pocket outlook. I've entered all the correct settings for btinternet.com (pop.btinternet.com & smtp.btinternet.com) just as I have for the past few years on different HTC devices.
Problem is I can't seem to send emails using T-Mobile 3G settings. Receiving works fine but unable to send.
Anyone advise me what I need to do in order to be able to send emails.
sometimes your account needs to authenticate before sending.
you have this option in your e-mail settings.
Try to turn this option on, afterwards you should be able to send mail as well.
I do have this problem also. It has nothing to do with the account settings I more than triple checked them. There seems to be an issue with 3g, T-Mobile and third party e-mail pop accounts. Can anybody help out on this?
It's a pitty not being able downloading your mails, with my 4350 it all worked, same account settings, same contract just GPRS.
Did you use original ROM?
My one works without any problems
Yes, all directly from the box. No modifications.
What's your nationality? German? If you might know how to solve it, just reply in German.
What provider are you using?
I'm using T-Mobile with 1 und 1 e-mail (POP3)

hi,
i bought new magacian, and was really impressed by it.
as i had xda whom i could pop yahoo, and other accounts easily.
but now on magacian i m able to send and receive only text messages
but not able to retrieve any pop accounts like yahoo or gmail
with the same settings....
what shall i do....
plz help.
My Magician picks up pop mail without any problems. Maybe try checking you can really connect to the intertnet by going to google first.
my gprs is working alright and i can browse any site and check my mails from IE.
but not from this...
also my pop settings are correct as i had with my old xda on which it was working fine...
god knows whats the problem.
I had this problem - try receiving your mail whilst connected to your PC (with internet connection) first and then disconnect and try via GPRS - make sure that you do not have any unsent mail in your outbox first (probably wont send via your default ISP on your desktop and hang the connection) - Good luck...
OB.
How can I configure both my Jasjar and my GMail account to keep all my e-mails on my Jasjar everytime it attempts a send and receive? At the moment it just wipes them clear, leaving me up the creek without so much as a paddle.
Vanishing GMAIL
...bizarre - was just about to post the same question. This is very frustrating! You have to be quick to read your mail, as when the device performs another send and receive it wipes ur inbox!
I used to use Gmail with a POP account with ActiveSync Email with Hotmail with Text and with MMS all coexisting simultaneously and have never had the problem you indicated, all my mails remain until I delete them of my own accord.
Sorry I am not much help. I recently stopped syncing my Gmail as it just didnt get used, I now only use it to store my emails that I want to keep for a long long long time and use my hotmail account for every tom **** and harry that wants an email address
I just simply followed the steps on the gmail website to setup and never lost any.
I've just had a little play and it seems that it might have something to do with what happens to the e-mail on the GMail servers once it's been downloaded using POP.
I have been using POP to access my GMail account and I agree with Simon_Darley... it all works fine.
I use Gmail as a spam filter from various email addresses I have.... I copy (autoforward) all mails from all my different email addresses automatically so it filters the spam, and keeps the mails safe for me so I have an archive of all my incoming messages in one place.
I'm happy to compare settings if you want me to help
This has ALWAYS worked for me:

and yes I do exactly the same as Budgie... forward any other email account to my Gmail...
I've got it sorted. I had to change it to keep all of the e-mails in the inbox once they'd be downloaded using POP; made sense really.

"Unable to connect to the incoming mail server. Verify that the server name is correct then try again to send and receive mail."

yes if you follow the instructions and configure correctly sending/receiving works perfectly...
Don't you have Pocket MSN ?
Make sure you turn off the setting which deletes mails over 3 days old. This setting seems to be the default. Also have your gmail keep a copy of the messages and not delete them. (You have 2GB on gmail so its not much of a problem.)
You can also send email using gmail, just use the settings they give you (smtp.gmail.com I think?) and make sure you have SSL enabled.
Hello,
i have created a threat in the wizard forum, and now i see you have these problems too.
My wizard delete ALL Mail in Incoming when i send a mail. Whats the Reasen for this? Damn i want to keep my mail!
what worked for me is :
option 3/3
get message headers only
include 999kb of message body
using this setting I can send & receive when I want without losing my mail.
Damn jag_freeman you are the best!!! How do you get this idea??? But it works!!!!!
Hi
am running a charmer with WM5 (obviously).
I have set up pop3 accounts with both yahoo and tiscali and have been using these successfully, if minimally for a while. Recently I have not been able to use my PC and have been hoping to use my device to send and receive email. This has not been the case. For the past week the device will receive full emails from both yahoo and tiscali. When I try to send email via the yahoo account I get a message telling me that my device can't download email and to check my connection and settings and try again. My connection and settings are fine. I have not tried with the tiscali account as yet as I don't really use it anyway.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
The link bellow will take you to a Modaco forum thread that I think is discussing the same thing.

Has anyone tried it yet?
http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=winmo
It supposed to bring the 'push gmail' feature.
Yes I'm using it since yesterday and it's working great.
ditto here, working quite nicely. Although is there a way to sync with two exchange servers at the same time? (that I don't have to pay for an extra service for). I would really like if I could connect with my works exchange server and my personal gmail one at the same time, but without having to go through the hassle of buying a service and paying monthly fees for the push service.
Any ideas?
works great just started to use it a bit of a pain to setup but didnt take too long.
yah...using it...quite good...
I'm having problems with this..
tried setting it up a few times but wouldnt sync. finally only sync'd when i connection to my wifi at home. As soon as i disconnect the wifi, the sync doesnt work anymore. wondering if its a t-mobile issue. cant seem to find any settings for activesync to use 3g instead of wifi. had it setup using imap with no problems what so ever. Anyone else have this issue?
Hi,
i am new about the push mail feature :
What i believed was(need to be confirmed or denied ;-):
With the gmail push, i wouldnt have anymore to
press a send/receive button in order to check my Gmail emails.
Each time i receive a mail on that account, i would be
informed nearly in realtime on my topaz, like with sms.
So i configured my gmail account like in:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
except i put [email protected] instead of @googlemail.com
(else wasnt working for me)
My topaz was connected via activsynch
so a kind of folder synchro occured
With a "Gmail" folder
and (translated from french) subfolders:
inbox/"sendbox"/drafts/"shifting"/sent/deleted/personal/professionnal/received
But then no mails appeared in them, so had to go to
parameters/"email configuration" to set again my gmail account
(strange to have to do it twice)
And so a "Gmail" subfolder(to Gmail folder) appeared
with new sub-subfolders :
drafts/bin/sent messages/spam/"followed"/"all messages"
and then my previous Gmail's emails appeared
Last i went to parameters/communication/Microsoft direct Push
to set it "on"
I tried for a test to sent a mail to my gmail account
but 45mn later still no notification of a new mail in my Gmail box
(ps: in the accounts settings, window where you have["sms/mms"; "email outlook";"Gmail"; "new account" with tabs "accounts"/message/adresse/storage]), my gmail account is set to 15mn in "send/receive planification")
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from 3g: no newmail
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from usb connection my pc:
i got the new mail
The only interest in the push feature i saw was to save battery (topaz doesnt have to send/receive each 15mn automatically)
and be informed quickly when you have a new mail.
sorry for my ignorance, and thanks in advance for any help
regards
no replies still ?

No attachments
I've noticed that I can't receive any attachments with my mail. This is even after I have changed the email settings to receive all attachments in activesync and email account options.
This is driving me crazy, for no reason my inbox on my email just emptys for No reason any ideas or anyone experiance this problem?
are you checking the email account from another machine? pop mail checked for instance through outlook will remove the matilda from server, so they vanish from phone next time the phone checks the account.
same thing has happend to me today its a virgin blueyonder pop3 account ,having probs with emails sending as well even after hard reset
There is a setting how old mails to be shown. I don't know if it applies to POP3 since I use IMAP. Also I have a swedish rom but I'll try to translate the location correctly:
Go to your inbox > Menu > Settings > Alternatives > Select your account > Schedule for downloading mails > Set this to all mails.
cheers there seems to be a problem with my mail servers, so it;s not the phone after all.

You wont be able to get sending emails through virgins smtp servers to work (to my knowledge), because they only allow sending from within their own network, i.e over your wifi/broadband. Lots of isp's introduced it some years ago to stop relay spam email.
If you have a mobile, chances are you have a mobile email that will allow you to send to its smtp servers from data or wifi, so you set you pop incoming to virginmedia, set your outgoing to smtp.o2.co.uk (or whatever, look it up) and so long as you set your return address to the virginmedia one, all replies will come to your vm inbox.
EDIT - you will be able to receive over data, it's just sending that won't work.
it's a strange one used my xperia for 18 months and have been able to send mail through smtp.blueyonder.co.uk and have sent some mail through hd2 with this smtp.

heh, well i connect to the ntlworld.com ones, and i can verify that is how its worked for years on their network, no matter what you do with authentication, you can't send to smtp.ntlworld.com from any connectiuon other than a vm one. It was annoying at first, but it pushed me to get some hosting and use my own pop mail. get and send from anywhere, much easier.
The three cable networks are all still kind of sperate, even under virgin, maybe telewest used to let their customers relay mail and its never been changed.
hi email back up and running, and sending from my hd2 using smtp.blueyonder.co.uk, touch wood it lasts. Vm seem to be having a bit of bother with their emails at the mo.
