Hello Gurus,
yesterday i was looking for some freeware program for
sheduling jobs in my Windows mobile 5 (HTC Wizard), because i would like to run some sync applications periodically.
But i am a bit disappointed because i haven't found anything usefull.
Could you give me some hints, please?
Thank you.
Dan
This is a good question - i've hunted high & low for something similar.
All I want to do is turn on WiFi at a scheduled time and turn it off again at a scheduled time and to repeat this on a daily basis.
There appears to be no freeware to do this.
SKScheMa (see http://s-k-tools.com/index.html?skschema/m_skschema.html) does appear to do whats required but its not freeware.
This best I can manage is to use dotfred's Task Manager to schedule an event which launches an application. I think I could use VJVolubilis to run a command line to turn WiFi on/off.
The trouble with this solution is that once the event has happened its gone. I cant get it to create an event which runs daily.

What about RunEveryday ? Maybe it's working....and it's free

Peter - just the ticket! Thanks for the pointer!

Hi. I am looking for a freeware task scheduler that I can use on my XDA2. I would like to be able to run an application every x minutes. Anyone seen something like that? Thanks
PHM Pocket PC Powertoys adds a Scheduled Tasks icon to the SETTINGS tab, but I can't see an option for adding a task. Perhaps it's a case of copyng a shortcut to a folder somewhere, but then how do you schedule the task? Perhaps I'm completely wrong and this Scheduled Tasks icon isn't like the Scheduled Tasks function in Windows after all.
something like this i think
http://www.pocketmax.net/alarmToday.htm
but it's not free
I use KitaraGenesis by Quench Software...I know the topic is FREE task scheduler but I think it's really good, and is only about a fiver in UK money.
Might be worth a look?

Anton, Rudegar,
Thanks a lot for the pointers. Will check these out. Take care.
please suggest me some tools which realise "autostart" for my magician. The tool should run a program when i turn the magicion on.
Thanks!
Check out sktools. That'll do it I think.

use MemMaid. really usefull tool
Thanks!
Maybe somebody knows also a small (freeware) program?
try search at http://pocketpcfreewares.com or http://www.freewareppc.com maybe there's some. anyway, you can allways add a shortcut to app in the windows\startup dir (use totalcommander for this).
@dddrko:
as far as i understand, the startup folder starts only after reset, not at powert button...
This is a nice tool: Event driven application/command execute !!
http://www.kent7.com/holly/wakeapp/
It can start an application or run a command at about any 'event' = Meaning, whataver happens :
On a specific time or when ;
PC card changed
othe IR device discovered
Network (dis)connected
AC Power On/Off
full device data restore
RS232 conection made
data sync finisched
system time changed
timezone changed
Device wakes up
Haven't tested it yet, but looks mighty powerfull !
Good spot. These are standard events for the PPC, so SKTools, MemMaid and the lovely WakeApp should support them all.

edit: tested it on my magican (wm03se), it works. great tool
shine on
@tom0_1:
could you please tell what exaxtly is working? Events, timer, ...?
OK, other way,
Example :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Event\Dock\Inbox
Command=Tmail.exe -RunInBKG
(retrieves new mail when Docked/Activesync on)
Also found :
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Events\PowerOn\WMP
Class= WMP for Mobile Devices
On= 32837
(Resumes playing WMP after power on)
I guess adding a key in ether wil get you what you want also...
@jpiek: thanks, i will try it
About memmaid - i dont think that this tool can add entries to the notification queue...
Background: i have an old Magician (with long white beard), and i want to use it as remote control with Salling Clicker.
This program uses bluetooth and every time i turn on the device, it should start Salling Clicker (or bring to foreground) and reconnect the bluetooth connection (so my girlfriend can focus on what she wants to hear or see...)
i tried three items and all worked:
event by power on
event by changing sd card
timer

Ow Yeah, great...
Repeat events?
With both memmaid and wakeapp, I can get a program to run once on a timer, but what I want to do is get the program to repeat daily at the same time. Memmaid seems to lack the ability to choose repeat; wakeapp shows "no end date" when one looks at the entry, but the notification disappears after it runs.
Memmaid can't do create recurring notification
I have verified with dinarsoft that memmaid can't put a repeating notification to run a program. The problem, they say, is that there is no facility to repeat and the way other programs do it is to write a few days worth and when that gets close to the end, write a few more.
Given this, wakeapp almost certainly can't either, since it seems to just be a "notification writer".
Can SKSchema run a program at the same time every day? An if so, can it then minimize the program?
Yes,
SKSchema can do repeating program runs, even do it only on Tuesdays or on the first of the month.
Hi,
This may be a generic piece of software but I'll post it here becuase the TyTn is the device I want to use it on...
Is there a piece of software available that will switch on and off bluetooth at a specified time?
If not, would somebody with some programming knowledge be able to write this?
The idea behind it is that - say you travel to and from work at a specific time - say 8am -> 8:30am and 5:30 -> 6pm - you would'nt have to keep switching bluetooth on and off in order to connect your mobile to a headset...
Cheers
Lee
Auto switching..
Have you tried PocketZenPhone?
it may be what you are looking for..
Charlie Grillo
Phonealarm has an option to schedule profile changes at specific times and within each profile, one of the settings available is to switch bluetooth on/off. You can also specify to run a program of your choice upon profile change as well.
TyTn is PocketPC bassed not SmartPhone bassed so it dosn't have profiles as such...so don't think that'll do it...
Phonealarm is a program which gives your profile functionality on a PPC device.
My phone is a Vario II (aka HTC Tytn).

I'd better have a look at it then!!!
Yeh, it is worth a look, it is a great program
I really missed having profiles when I switched from standard phones to PPC devices which is why I bought it.
If you click on the link on my first post it will take you to the developers home page.
I'm using SKScheMa from the SKTools folk.
http://www.s-k-tools.com/
It works fine to schedule all sorts of stuff on/off, including soft reseting in the middle of the night, running clean up utilities at 6am etc..
It's also got some neat (if quite complicated) scripting capability but there are one or two pre-canned scripts that you can assign to buttons like 'Toggle BT' ...
Works for me...
Cheers

is it possible to use this to get ActiveSync via bluetooth to start automatically when I come in range of the bluetooth on the PC? I do all my synching with BT, but it is a pain in the butt to have to manually start the process every time
yeah - I know what you mean... so as far as I know, it's possible to create a script to switch BT on, then start an App (such as Activesync)... you can even script it to emulate stylus 'clicks' etc.. now the only trick may be having to start the script (for activesync) depending on a connection being available ... but there is some capability called WATCH which is supposed to watch for certain events etc...
So, have I done it myself ? no...
Is it possible ? it certainly looks like it..
Cheers
Dave
Hi lsainsbury,
I would also give PocketZenPhone (mentioned above) a try. From experience I have personally found it better than Phonealarm for switching profiles etc...
From what I remember PhoneAlarm has other features which I was not interested in. PZP has many features for customizing notifications etc...
I am sure others will disagree but this is my opinion.
Guess you have nothing to loose by trying it, right?
Tried both, pocketzenphone is the best IMO....its only missing ONE thing which is automatic profile changing via cell id.
(as you can see by my new topic) Phonealarm seems to have problems with the TyTN from my experience anyway!
Hi. I frequently turn off my phone using the Comm Manager while leaving the PDA on during the evening. In the morning, I frequently forget to turn the phone back on and I was wondering if there was a program that can turn on (and perhaps turn off) the phone using the Comm Manager at a set time. Thanks.
Phone: 8125 on WM5 with original ROM
I'm looking for something like SleepWell.
http://www.connectivetools.com/sleepwell.html
The problem is that this program works only for smartphones. I tried it on my 8125 and it doesn't work. Moreover, the program deposited 300Kb of data which I can't seem to get rid of even after uninstalling it. But I'm still looking for such a program. Thanks.
Try Mortscript (Freeware). you can write a simple script that will set a notification event (or whatever it's called). I use it to run weather watcher automatically every morning. there are several forum strings, here and on others that have examples of different scripts that you can modify for your own needs. just do a google search for Mortscript, and Mortscript examples. It also has documentation included. Learning to use Mortscript will give you more control over your device than you ever though was possible.
I didn't think of MortScript, but even if I had, I don't have the technical know how to create do what I wish with a nice GUI.
Greetings,
i have started the project "Location Based Reminder for Mobile" which i will work on during my free time.
the Application will work like the Built in Tasks of Windows, but reminders are based on a Location Instead of Date/Time.
LBRM V0.1:
- Detecting the Cell ID and displaying it on the screen.
- Creating Tasks in the Default Tasks Application with Own Tags.
Next :
- Add Recoding Cell IDs to a Location Category Functionality.
- Add Reminding Functionality.
This Application Requires Microsoft .Net Compact Framework 3.5 to be installed.
Note: This Application is still under development and it is not functional at all.
Please don't attempt to install on your device if not participating in testing.
Warning: This application is provided as is, no warranties or support. i take no responsibility of anything or any damage done by this software or any part of it.
This is a wonderful idea. if it can work with the default tasks application.. and maybe, if you can talk to s.l.i to integrate it with Thumbcal, it will make a FINE tool i'm sure.
I would definitely use such a tool as most of my tasks are based on location rather on time.
by the way, as a reference, you can look for rk-Locswitch which is an application which does the same thing... but is meant to be a complete app with a whole lot of additional features, some of them.. not needed by some people.
Actually, i'm preparing the beta version to be released soon,
but the application will have it's own interface and store the tasks in the windows tasks application
i don't know if it is possible to add this functionality to the existing tasks plus it might be complicated.
let's see how we can improve it, but first i'm willing to release a beta.
I'm looking for similar program quite long time but without success. Hope you will finish your GOOD idea. On my SE X1 it has detected the Cell ID and displayed it on the screen. Looking forward next release.
May the Lord bless your efforts. I've been searching forEVER for an app. I will test this with Gusto!
Hmm...OK...sorry, thought this was GPS. Good Luck anyways, fine sir.
Still working on this? I've been looking for an app that would do location reminders based on outlook tasks. I want to enable the following use case:
1.Remember to do something at home while at work.
2.Create a task in outlook and categorize as "Todo @Home"
3.Phone syncs task.
4.When I go home, the application monitoring my location sees that I'm there and scans my tasks for any active tasks with the @Home category.
5.My phone reminds me of the task.
Any chance of doing that?
is it possible to get somwhere the regionaldata (like gps) of a cellID... maybe some opendatabase. THAT would be great... pointing somewhere in google maps (or equivalent), quering cellID<->geodata server... assigning cellID towers.. DONE .
Thanks for this, can't wait to try it...
