Share Mogul's Wi-fi internet to laptop - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have been trying to figure this out for a while now, but just don't know if its possible. I want to connect my Mogul to my computer, and use the Wi-fi on my mogul, to give internet access to my computer. Pretty much the same as tethering my EVDO connection, but this time using the Wi-fi connection on it. Does anyone know how to do this (if it is even possible)? Thanks

No, what I want is to connect my mogul to my laptop using a USB cable, and have the mogul connected to my router through wi fi, and make it so I am using my Mogul as a wi fi adapter for my laptop. I don't want to use the EVDO connection.

Buy a wifi adapter!

lol, I already have one, but for some reason it doesnt work with some networks, while i can connect my phone fine through wi fi to the same network. Thats why I want to use my phone as the wi fi adapter, because for some reason, the actual one that i bought doesnt work for some networks.

I'm sure this is possible, but I can't imagine this solution to be convenient! I see a new router in your future!

demand will never be bit for such features as wifi suck the battery dry pretty fast

My phone would be connected to my computer. I am basically trying to turn my phone into a USB wi-fi adapter for my laptop. so as long as my laptop battery doesn't die, then my phones wouldn't either, since usb charges it.

Have you found a solution to this? I have exactly the same problem. I have a mogul that does not have sprint service on it. I have internet service at home and I need to use Mugul's wifi to share it with my laptop computer whose wifi adapter seems not working. In other words, all I want to do is to use Mugul as a USB wifi adpater for my laptop. Mogul can be connected with laptop via either usb cable or bluetooth. Most postings talk about WMwifirouter or PDAnet, but most require sprint data connection. I do not want to use sprint data. Please advise if you have found a solution. Thanks a lot!

internet on laptop via wi-fi from the universal

i do not want buy a 3g data card for the laptop is it possble to feed the laptop
through wi-fi or with a cable from 3g universal
I dont think you can do it by wifi but you can connect the 2 devices by wifi no issue. I tnihk the same applies to the cable either USB or LAN. However you can by bluetooth. All you need to do is set up the exec to be discoverable and get the lap top to look for bluetooth devices and explore the services on them. You will them see the bluetooth modem. Then all you need to do is to create a link to your mobile operators gprs or 3g internet connection in the usual way. You will need to download the setup specific for your network.
Good luck
Also remeber to up the speed from the default as this assumesgprs and you have afaster connection with 3g.
If you do not have bluetooth on your laptop just buy a BT dongle for about £15 then you are away.

An XDA as a router! Wonder if MS will make a version of the Internet Connection Sharing Wizzard for WM5! LOL
I can see the use but not someone actually making it.
There is a thread on this somewhere.
I connect my universal to my laptop via the sync cable and then the laptop uses the universal as a modem and connects to teh web at 3g speed. The universal comes with wireless modem, you just have to play around to get the drivers on the laptop to see the universal when you plug in.
works well.

Internet Sharing between two pdas

I am wandering if there is a way to share my internet connetion between my alltel ppc 6800 with the new htc shift. I know how to link the phone with my laptop but I am currently looking at purchasing the shift to replace it and was wandering if the connection would work. If anyone has tried this please post.
P.S. the connection would be via bluetooth unless I converted the mini usb from the ppc 6800 to usb back to usb to plug into the shift. Thanks.
not sure if it could be done with BT, pretty sure it cant be done with USB (unless the shift can operate in host mode)
what should work is wifirouter (im sure the shift has wireless)
ok so how would i get the connection to work through a router? The only internet connection i have is through the ppc 6800.
nono, wifirouter is an app that you would run on your 6800, it essentially turns it into a wireless access point that other wifi enabled devices can use for internet access
where is the app available for download at?
Is that the only way it would work or could I configure the 6800 as a modem to connect?
ok I downloaded the app but still cant connect. I am trying the connection via my laptop and it stops at waiting for Internet connection sharing. is there some setting that needs to be changed or what am i doing wrong?
You ever figure out how to get the internet on your pda using the 6800 and the connection? I would like to do this bluetooth with my setup.
The newest version of WMWiFiRouter ($$$) allows you to do this over wifi, BT, or USB. If you have the money, it's a great program.
I have WMWifiRouter and use it with my laptop. How do i use it with bluetooth to get internet on my Dell X51? The x51 wants to dial a number when you setup a connection.

Polaris as WLAN Stick

HTC Polaris has included WLAN, so my Question can the Device can be used as a WLAN USB Stick, to connect the PC with the Internet (Router or Modem Connection).
My PC is far away from the Router so i dont want LAN Cable at all. Is WLAN possible via Mobile
Hmm... In theory it should work over ActiveSync/Windows Mmbile Device Center since WLAN is one adapter and AS/WMDC is another adapter.
But you'd need some kind of router software for polaris to route requests from AS/WMDC-Adapter over WLAN-Adapter to your internet modem or router.
Don't know if such software exists. I'm afraid you have to google for it by yourself.
WMWifiRouter
I have been testing WMWifiRouter and its great, the latest version 1.11 seems quite stable and I get a good connection speed considering its a mobile. Just make sure you are on an unlimited data plan otherwise you will soon clock up a nasty bill ;o)
Maybe it isn't so, but my understanding of the original question is that he wants to use the Cruise as a simple USB WiFi network card, while getting an internet access using an existing WiFi network. WMWifiRouter seems irrelevant for this task, and even if it can do it, you can probably get a WiFi card (either USB or PCI) for WMWifiRouter's price.
Bottom line - i don't know if this is possible, but even if it is, WiFi cards are too cheap today to make it attractive.
With the original rom it's possible to share web connection to a pc. So it seems really easy and possible to do it. Just connect your polaris to the web using wifi and then share the connection with a usb cable. That's all.

is it possible to use my phones internet connection through a 3g usb dongle?

Not sure how USB 3G dongles work or are setup, so I was wondering if it's possible to get one & be able to use my phone's existing 3G contract through one of them.
At the moment I have to plug my phone into my laptop & use internet connection sharing, but would rather be able to use a usb dongle for the simplicity.
From what i understand, 3G USB dongles connect directly to your network and therefore supply direct communication between your laptop and the network.
There is no need then to connect the dongle to your mobile and hence use the mobile to connect to the network.
I am not aware that they have any method of connecting to another, 3rd party network connection.
The simplicity is, that the dongle is plugged in, connects to the network and then you can surf. The downside i suppose is that you need another contract of some kind.
If you must use your mobiles connection, why not try bluetooth, i guess would be neater than cables.
Well I wondered if the usb dongles are using similar settings to what contract mobile phone does. And if so is it possible to use your mobile phone's sim in them to make them work?
I tried the bluetooth & it didn't seem to work, but then if it did, it would be draining my battery on my phone even faster.

Wifi broke - use phone wifi instead?

My PC's wireless card has broke. I would like to connect the HTC to the PC via USB and use internet connection sharing, to share the phone's WiFi connection. NOT 3G.
The option isnt there to share the wireless connection, only the 3g, which I dont want to do as it's expensive. There is wireless in my home.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Try this: http://www.wmwifirouter.com/ it may help.
Same question, is there a freeware solution?
Try Android with Tethering
