Are you trying to connect via wi-fi or GPRS?
Have you tried other programs that require connection to function? (Like weather programs, Google Maps, Windows Livesearch, etc.)
Have you recently installed any other programs?
Have you mucked with your connections settings to try to access the internet via some other method, and didn't change them back?
We need more information to help you...

Do you get this message ONLY after a Url is entered in the address bar in PIE? Tap on something in your internet history list and see if you get the same message. menu>history..see screenhot.
No Opera, WLM & other Internet suite working fine...
Its also clear the history but still same
check via GPRS, Active Sync & also Wireless
also uninstall all the application & then I try but still not working
Call your phone service provider. They should be able to help you troubleshoot this more effectively, as it is probably a connection setting. Don't call them from the phone you're troubleshooting though, because you may need to reset it during the troubleshooting.

Since moving from a Jam to a JAMin, I have a problem with using GPRS and IE to access Google. Each time I try to search with Google, I get a message "The page cannot be displayed or doanloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again". In fact, there is no connection problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there some setup in WM5 which does not like Google (or vice versa)? Thanks for any help.

I get google.com on my S200 just fine using IE
I have no problem with Google and IE either.
Thanks Hellomoto 25 and Acer. I get the Google homepage but it is the search results which get the message I referred to. No other ideas? Thanks.
Hi all,
I got this message on my Wizard when I try to enter any web address or click a favorite : "The address is not valid. Check the address and try again.".
I think it must have happened after I used Mermaid to clean some wrong registry, now IE just doesn't respond well. (however another browser works, like AvantGo or Mini Opera).
I have hard-reseted the device and restore system settings but no luck (since the system restore must have put the error back in place).
any idea ?
thx in advance.
maybe you have to change the settings in the connection tab. I had a similar problem and it was because by default the GPRS connection was used and I only wanted to use WIFI. Make sure that the connection settings are correct for your service provider.
hope this helps
nope, not working with either GPRS or Wifi
even so that opera works fine with both GPRS or Wifi or LAN connected to PC. And I did compare my connections settings to a friend who has the same phone, the same O2 provider and they are both similar.
So my question is more :
- how do I reinstall Internet Explorer only ?
is there a way ?

You can't. It's part of the Mobile O/S.
Do the hard reset again but don't restore the settings. See if it works.
hard reset was the answer
such a shame ... :-(
Did you find some solution? Was it OK after hard reset?
Removed IE--How to redirect programs to Opera?
I have a related problem:
I installed Opera Mini 4.1 and it works great, much quicker and better display than IE. However, it appears that a number of other applications have failed to work and time out without IE. Do I need to reinstall IE? (I was able to set up Opera to open with the IE button.
Does my question make sense? Basically, programs that need a browser don't seem to connect through Opera. How do I direct them to the new browser in the absence of IE? Thanks in advance!

i cant get opera mini on my wizard. help, please. says phone model not detected
Hi,
I have recently picked up an Orange SPV M3100. I installed skype 2.2 on it and tried to run it. The login screen comes fine, but when I click on "Sign in", it gives me a pop up saying "Skype needs an internet connection to function. Do you want Skype to connect to the internet through a cellular connection?"
When I click YES, I get "Unable to connect to the internet. Please check your network settings."
My internet through IE works fine on GPRS. It is good speed and works excellent. I am able to use MSN Live as well, but Skype doesn't seem to be working.
I've been through posts - where there have been suggestions to check the proxy settings. But there are no proxy settings in the mobile.
Anyone who can help me out here?? Most posts discussed how easy it is to connect to Skype using GPRS and how easy this works. I have been trying for quiet some time to no avail.
Alternatively, can someone give me an older version of this Skype for PPC, which might work for me??

Saurabh Dubey

Activating WiFi -> launching QuickGPS -> Download...
I'm having the same problem and I am connected either by Wifi, Active Sync (WMDC6.1) or GPRS and still get the message "Connection Failed, Please try again later". I know ive got a web connection, cos i can access the web! I've raised call wiv HTC & will post back any reply I get from them but if anyone has any bright ideas. I know there is a manual workaround but would rather get to root cause.
If you're in WM5 you have to deactivate the advanced connexion functionnality (maybe not the exact name, I have a french rom). How to do it: go in settings --> tab "connexions" --> usb to PC --> deactivate the option shown
It worked for me, I couldn't access the net via activesync, now I can.
If WM6 I don't know, maybe the same.
Is it a matter of proxy settings ?
I have the same problem in my office. The web surf works but neither the weather update nor the QuickGPS update. Whereas at home everything is fine. The proxy settings made by the administrator filter the acces to the update.
quite some time ago i somewhere found this to help (seems to be win xp prob):
lsp value to be added to xp registry!
I'm hoping someone can help me. I have an AT&T tilt. I've had it for a year with no problems. Yesterday I tried opening Opera 9.5 and it just hung at connecting to media net. I tried a soft reset, I've tried removing the batteries and reinstalling opera. The problem still persists. I tried leaving it alone to connect to media net, and found google had loaded about an hour later. Unfortunately the browser was still non-responsive. After taking a look at other programs, I discovered, Internet Explorer is the only app that works. Even messaging doesn't, it hangs while trying to connect to download mail. I tried leaving it alone like I did for Opera an found it "logging on" about an hour later, but it was hung. I've also tried turning on WiFi, but Opera still cannot connect.
From what I can see, it looks like there's an issue connecting up to the network, however, I can't explain why IE can do it, but everything else can't. Does anyone have any idea or suggestions for troubleshooting this one?
Thanks in advance.
hi,
try this opera fix.
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=101958&st=430&p=749204&#entry749204
as for messager live .. good luck with that .. as far as I can see, the only solution is to do a hard reset and AVOID using the auto configurator in the email setup.
quote
" bad news for Windows live/ hotmail users is that they do not get the chance to select the network connection a windows live/hotmail account uses. On the very first part of the e-mail setup, as soon as you type in "[email protected], or [email protected]" , the account wizard completely takes over declaring that "settings found for hotmail.com". And even after you type in all your details you do not get to option to select the network connection to be used. (This is consequence of the fact that Microsoft Windows Mobile thinks it knows best how to configure microsoft based e-mail accounts for windows mobile.) The network connection that is automatically selected is called "The Internet". As you cannot select another network connection, you must edit "The Internet" connection so that it has the right settings for your particular mobile service provider. To do this"

But the strange thing is that I cannot find The Internet connection settings. So i cannot edit The Internet networking settings. Apparently, the end user is deem too stupid to know how to edit it correctly, so it's set automatically and hidden from view. Still investigating.
