Hi to the list,
i own an HTC P-3600.
I also use at home Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
Every time i connect the PDA to the Pc to sychronize the contacts with
activesync, i get a confusion between all the Pc contacts ( which are just
e-mails address ) and the PDA contacts ( which are just phones numbers ).
This confusion happens in both, the Pc and the PDA.
Is there a possibility that i can synchronize just the PDA contacts maybe making another address book in the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 just for
the PDA contacts so when i connect the PDA to the PC trough the Actvesync and there is any difference there has to be a Synchronize
with the address book i made and not with the main one.
Hope i've explained my problem, and hope also there is somebody who can help me.
Enzo.

i think activesync only sync with outlook
but there are other sync programs which sync with
a great number of other mail programs and the likes
on the pc to edit the contacts.
what are these programs?
i think most mail programs have a kinda of contact
lotus notes, androa or what ever it's called
and windows have some program itself
it's just a matter of sync'ing between them and the pocketpc
try doing a search for them
or for intellisync or something like that
On my old phone (Nokia) i could sync my contacts into Windows address book on my laptop. Now I've got the Vario2 and vista on my laptop the sync will only let me download my contacts into microsoft outlook- which I don't have and do not want to pay loads more money. How do i back my contacts up or get outlook free
I recently found a program called "PIM Backup". It allows you to back the data up to a file which you can then copy off.
Try looking here or off a similar thread for the download link -

Hi.
Have a similar problem
Using Outlook Express for Email and instead of MS Office / Outlook we use Open Office [its free ]
Found a link to connect O.E. YET to try it, but it is ...
http://www.reunion.com/site-root/download_reunionforoutlook.jsp
Also if you know of a calendar plugin for O.E., please post it
i use Jeyo Mobile Companion, brilliant for backing up contacts, sending SMS via pc.
Its different to some others in the fact that you compile the sms as you would an email but it sends it via the phone, so no internet connection needed.
Its brill at work, save "un-cradling" then reply/send sms then cradle, its all done with a swift alt-tab. heh
Alternative to ActiveSync
I haven't (yet) tried it but there is a project called FinchSync (http://www.finchsync.com) which claims: "FinchSync is a tool for synchronizing contacts, appointments and tasks from Mozilla email and calendar products with a Pocket PC or SmartPhone."
If anyone has any hands on experience with this program I for one would be interested to hear about it...?
you could set up a mail2web account which is push email and has a outlook style web based interface allowing you to sync everything contacts, calendar and tasks Did i mention its FREE. www.mail2web.com

You're using Vista? The WMDC will let you Sync your phone with your Vista Contacts - no problem - infact you should now also be able to Sync your mail with Windows Mail and if memory serves your calendar with Windows calander - all things that with XP you had to have Outlook to do!
EDIT
Sorry - seem to have spoken to soon. The beta version of WMDC allowed for Syncing with those programs - I always use Outlook so I haven't even really looked at those settings since - it appears that it was something they supported in the Beta and dropped from the final edition which is quite unfortunate! (probably just trying to sell more copies of outlook). A free work around might be to use Microsoft Live Mail e-mail client (Not Windows Mail) and then install the windows live messenger and set it up to sync your contact details with Live Messenger and then the Live Mail client should then have a synced version of your contacts - just another idea - sorry bout that!
Hello, I am using Vista Windows Mail and I have imported all my contacts to it´s address book (Windows Contacts). The problem now is how to send those contacts to the Wizard. When I syncronize it doesn´t send any of the Windows Mail / Windows COntacts to the device! help please
Install Outlook, then ActiveSync/WMDC can sync your contacts to Wizard.
Man I have never seen a worst program than Outlook! I can´t understand how it handles data...
How I can make a copy of all the contacts I have in my phone (SIM,Windows Live, Exchange Server) and keep them syncing to (Windows Live, and the Exchange Server) automatically. I am trying to keep multiple copies of my contacts on Windows Live and the Exchange Server.
Also, does anyone knows how to Sync my online T-Mobile Address Book to my phone. I used to have Samsung T629 which has the feature. T-Mobile told me this feature wont work on the WING. Any tweaks ?
Thanks

anyone can help ?
unfortunately, I have no experience with exchange server ... so I can't help you there... nor do I use windows live or Tmobile address book.
If you're just trying to keep backups of your contacts, you can :
1-Sync to outlook
2-PIMBackup
3-HTC BACKUP
4-Copy your contacts to both SIM and Outlook, then disable Sim contacts from showing.
Does the tmobile address book give you the ability to export the address book into a file that MS Outlook can read? Maybe that could be a work around...
Thanks Duprade for the reply.
Can I sync the contacts to Outlook Express ?
I'm not sure .. but I don't think so... I think it only works with regular outlook.
Ok. I have access to my work email from home tru Microsoft Outlook Web Access. Can I use it to sync my phone contacts to Outlook ? Also, When I check the Phone List tru the Contacts button on the OWA, I dont see any contacts (Just my boss's info). At the same time, my phone is connected to my work exchange server email. Its just, I dont know how to sync all the contacts to it.
Any clues?
run real outlook and try to connect it to your work exchange server... you may be able to connect to it from home with outlook... that should (hopefully) give you full access to everything .
As we talked about earlier, installing outlook 07 would be my last resort options. There should be a way to sync the contacts directly from my phone to my exchange server account.
Thanks for your excellent work.
I use BB Connect to get email from company server and for calendar. I do not want to use BB Connect for managing my Contacts (not sure even if I can use it). So I would like to use activesync or similar solution to synchronize contacts with my PC and use for changes. However, once I connect phone to PC it wants to synchronize mail as well. Once I unselect Mail on synchr. options it says it will need to delete all email on my phone.... So I do not proceed further and as a result can not synchronise contacts...
Is there any solution to get my contact on the phone?
