Are there any config files for entered connections ?
Where are those files located ?
Thx
i'd say that it's all in the registry

Hi All,
I am meddling with my ext rom. I am setting it to auto install s/w upon hard reset. it works fine. I found out that when i hard reset the pda and phone volume is set to half. How do i make it to full ? Also, i would like to know
how do i move some files to some other folders. eg: ringtones, etc.
One option is to use the CAB Wizard and create a Small CAB File with your settings for Registry - Cab wizard allows you to put files into specific folders etc and all this you can do without writing ONE SINGLE LINE OF Script.
Another option is to do it via script :
In the config.txt you can add the lines :
CPY1:\Extended_ROM\CabInstall.exe
CPY2:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\CabInstall.exe
Means the Cabinstall.exe will be copied from the extended_Rom to the Programs folder in Windows\Start Menu.
The Registry keys you can check out on the link :

If they are not there - PM me and I shall send them to you...

thanks! I downloaded the PHM Reg editor and followed the instructions under Microsoft Application Installer -> Changing the setting so that it asks you where to install a cab on the link above..
It worked.. my ipaq now ask me where to install the cab files!
brilliant... thanks again!
I personally got no success installing both Qtek and i-mate .CAB files, provided to setup my Operator settings (TMN in Portugal) into a Qtek9000!
So, need to repeat the manual procedure, everytime I reinstall the unit.
It runs well for the MMS client settings, but not for the 'internet GPRS', 'MMS GPRS' and 'WAP GPRS' settings, which do not get into effective configuration.
Examining the correspondent .CAB files, also realised that 'MMS Client settings' are installed through a .REG method, while remaining settings are defined into a .XM file (CM_Entries.xml), despite they seem to be registry tweaks as well.
- Anyone with similar experiences?
- What may be getting wrong with these .XML setups or .CAB files?
- How to install/load settings directly from a .XML file, without using it into a .CAB?
- Why the operator settings (and others?) are always set via .XML and not through regular .REG files? Not possible?
Can I use a .XML file to do the same as a .REG file, and vice-versa?
How to load the .XML settings, without of a .CAB file?
Why use .XML files?
What does .XML files do, that we can't do the same with a .REG file?
i've noticed that the autoconfig utility in most of our pda's (am using atom) add some registry keys to the registry using the xml documents stored in the extended rom (hidden storage on atom).. can anyone please tel me how this is done? thanx..

RAPI is a possbility of provisioning the xml from your desktop, or a simple way is to call DMProcessConfigXML , check out the article: http://teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4

I am trying to change the background on an HTC Polaris.
I found the file used in the background in the /windows folder, it is called HTC_Grey. How do I find the registry setting that corresponds to this? Does anyone know where this is called in the registry?
why don't you just go to:
Start menu / Settings / Today
and select the new background you wanna use? =)
Because I added a new file in the /windows folder and want to point the registry to that new file. Anyone know what the registry address is that points to this?
Aas you wish...
If you don't find the registry key that needs to be changed, why dont you just replace the "HTC_Grey" file by yours (using the same name) ^_^
Just a random though since i never tried to do since before =)

make sure you tick "Show Hidden File/Folder" and untick "Hide system/protected files/folder" in the folder option setting (in your PC).

The Windows folder on the X1 (or any PPC) is classed as a system folder. When viewed on your PC (and you have the folder options set to hide system files and folders), they won't show up.
Go to Control Panel/Folder options on your PC and select "Show hidden files and folders" and also de-select "Hide protected operating system files"
It is recommended to re-select the latter after you've finished doing what you need to do with your X1, to protect your files on your PC.
RE:
Cheers buddy, i knew of the show hidden files and folders, but wasn't aware of the protected files option. nice one, greatly appreciated.

Joel
