You can change the values in registry. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\ and there you will have the entries for Dtmf0 to Dtmf9, Dtmf* and Dtmf#
You can also add vibrate action to keystrokes here.
In case you screw things up, here are the default values.
multumesc man! but I am not so advance in using key registry. so I will wait for the moment and enjoy this piece of art as it is.

Hello,
I have a question. Maybe someone knows on this forum???
Where can I find the keys which change the speaker icon in the taskbar? Next tot the phone signal there is a speaker icon. It changes to vibrate and silence when selected. Which keys in the registry do this? How is this icon changed?
I kow it is possible, because some apps support this, but I can't find how to do!
Thanx for anyones help!
No one knows? Anyone should......
Where is this one switched in the registry? Which value changes???
Hope some can help!
Phone Profiles from JGUI can do.... So someone should know about this...
Help would be really appreciated, then developing can go on!!! With I hope an excellent product for everyone!
what makes you think that those programs use the registry to change icons or what ever it is you are talking about

Sorry, don't get your point exactly! I try to let the icon (volume icon) get changed programmaticaly, like it changes when changing the volume to vibrate or off.
I suspect that it is done bu the registry! Any other ideas? Anyone knows how this is done? Someone should know....
Are you actually wanting to mute the volume aswell ?
Try looking in HKey_Current_user\Control Panel\Volume (don't have a PPC here atm, so can't check)
Otherwise, I would export your registry, change the setting to vibrate manually, then export again. Copy both these to your PC and compare them.. there are many programs that can do this for you to make life easy
well maybe it's a function in the api / sdk / framework of the pocketpc phone edition
whats make you think it's set in the registry?

Well, that was the first thing that came to me. I saw it in the application of JGUI I stated above and though that it should be a registry value. I couldn't think of any SDK / Framework / API, because that would make it almost impossible to implement it like this.
The volume can be muted as well, but for now the muting volume and vibration is done already, but I am still looking for how to change the picture of the volume icon.
Rudegar, do you have any idea then???

The key you gave me indeed changes when setting some different volume settings. But I didn't find any key yet in that place which changes the picture I mentioned. Anyone?
Why could no one tell me about this? No developer has ever tried to hack this picture? Any ideas are welcome!
may lightning strike me down for posting a microsoft link here
but maybe the today screen is what you need to be able to edit to get what you want.
I'm not 100% sure, but it may point you in the right direction.

the registry has nothing to do with what you want to do.

What is doing the trick then? Why can't I manage to change these icons until now? Anyone??
those icons are located in one of the OS dlls. I believe that it's in the mfce300.dll Maybe you can change it creating a .mui for that dll but I'm not sure.
Hi all,
It's freezing in London, UK! Anyways...
I hate the o2 phone skin I am stuck with, I noticed once before after a hard reset there was a much nicer skin - im guessing it was the default WM5 skin...I know it was blue... Well - I want it back ..
So today's question from me..
How do I change my phone skin.. WITHOUT HARD RESET..
Ta
lol..its bloody freezin!..
here u go...speeded up my exec..and actually prefer the simple default skin anyway..use resco or any other registry editor
To set or remove the operator phone skin
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin'
The 'Enabled' DWORD value can be set to '1' to show the operator skin or '0' to show the default skin
wow that is so much faster! Thanks!
Although - I was talking about a completely different skin? Unusual!
Ahh well this one is just what I need - a phone.
Ta!
The problem with method is that you lose the button for video calls. Is there a way around it?
Thanks

HI,
I tried the buttons and I cannot get video calls with the default phone skin (as explained above).
Thanks.
the most interesting about it actually is that it will give you 10 Megs of RAM...if you can live without the videocalling.
My videocalling button appears to work. :?

How exactly do you get that extra space?? Does it require a hard reset or can you delete the extra files? If the latter which are the correct files to delete?
faysel, over at the modaco forum has come up with this awesome cab that lets you get vibrating feedback everytime you press one of the number buttons in the phone. The vibration lasts as long (or as short!) as you press the button.
Great cab, very useful for knowing whether you have indeed pressed the key.
This is great, thank you. I used to use Redial with vibrating effect on my PDA2k (WM2003SE) but this is even better
don't expect a long battery life with that!

Are you kidding me? I mean what kind of a battery effect you think it will have? Its such a small vibe that I don't expect to have ANY noticable effect on battery life. First it vibes only when you dial phone numbers (how many a day? 5? 6? even 20? Its still nothing. Second, receiving a phone call, that is the vibration during it, probably uses more power than this addition will use in 20 calls...
I really disagree...
This is a great little program!
I don't like it because if you tap fast, it wont vibrate. In addition to this, there is a serious problem with the dialer after you uninstall it.
So I had to reinstall it and now i'm stuck with it
My rating : 0 (ZERO)
@Andrew_sh: use the attached cab to get the keytones back, then uncheck from the sounds and notifications settings to get a working silent dialer back.
@Koksie
Thanks for trying but unfortunately it won't fix it.
When I press the button , the tone will sound but if I press it again shortly after, it lags and makes a higher pitched tone.
Sorry to hear it didn't work Andrew, I have no idea how to fix this. I use the vibrate and am happy with it, on my Magician going back with this cab worked fine, I have no idea what is causing this in your Prophet. I hope you can figure it out and correct it, good luck with that.

Try this, it's a saved registry string of the original keys that the .cab modified. Hopefully i'll work for you without messing up anything else.
I had to rename the file vibrate off.reg.exe to ba able to attach it. Just delete the .exe part ie. vibrate off.reg
this is a technical forum
can someone paste here the registry keys which are being modified by this vibrate utility?
thanks
Using a registry editor navigate to the following keys and follow the directions. Do this for each of the listed registy keys
1. Rename Standard DWORD parameter "Sound" to "Sound1"
2. Create new String Parameter "Sound"
3. Assign value *vibrate* to this new parameter.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf#
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf*
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf0
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf2
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf3
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf4
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf5
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf6
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf7
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf8
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Dtmf9
this mod doesn't work fine for me, I noticed the vibrate a few time but it's not working everytime I tap on the Keypad...
Strange :?
Although the mod works fine, I had big troubles removing it again.
After removing the mod with the supplied cab file any keys pressed in the dialer would lag and emmit a short beep.
i finally succeeded in removing it manually:
First reinstall the vibrate mod again so that the keys vibrated again when pressed.
Then go into the registery keys posted above, deleted the parameter "Sound" and then rename the parameter "Sound1" back to "Sound".
Do this for all Dtmf keys.
Thats all
its true if you tap fast it wont vibrate at all.. very annoying. is there a way to make it vibrate for a set lenght.. much like the dtmf tones used to be.. no matter how long or short i press..
that would be very useful.
regards,
tom

I used this mod until I found out that I couldn't turn off vibrate on incoming calls anymore. I can't be sure that they are related, but the timing was right. The next time I did a ROM upgrade I didn't install it again. I use speed dial with Photo Contacts Pro anyway.

Never mind - problem fixed
Not installing on Tytn / Black2.5
"Installation unsuccesfull, Not meant for this device"
Did anybody have more luck? How?
I don't like this
...the vibrate just doesn't trigger some of the time, which means you can't rely on tactile feedback on dialling, which makes it fairly useless. Sorry...
buhahahaha
*buzz* *buzz* *buzz*
works fine on my Jamin. Great app
Hi all,
I've tried to search for this information, but got overwhelmed with too much unrelated results, so I'll risk being called 'dumb' and ask.
Is there a registry key where I can get/set the sound settings of the phone? In particular, I am aware of the HKCU/ControlPanel/Volume key, but could not find anything about the vibration settings.
Ciao,

Check out Treo vibe, I think it's just what you guys are looking for.
Additional information
I'll try to be more clear.
I want to develop a rltoday/batteryStatus theme, and would like to replace the top bar. I would like to show the sound state of the phone, and already found the registry setting to read if the sound is on.
I need to also retrieve the vibration status: any registry key address to spare?
Ciao,
GioVAX
Do you mean the vibration setting for the ring tone?
The only one I know of is HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0 it will have a string like av2pwr or something like that, the v standing for vibrate.
I am not sure what device you are looking for, but here is the registry for hermes vib button reg.
HKLM\Software\OEM\Button\PhoneVibrateButton,0x00010001,1
Sorry for stupid Q., but I didn't found A. for it in WIKI and Tips.
Im very unhappy for DTMF zzzzound when I pressed numerical keys in telephone mode. How I can disable it? Regedit or something?
No regedit needed, go to settings, menu-all settings-personal-phone and put keypad to 'off'
First thing I do personally after a hard reset! I hate the tones too, and they slow down dialling even on the Leo.
