[QUE] can not find Initflashfiles.dat inside dump folder - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I dumped my rom that downloaded from Gigabyte official website using
Beta: WM5 ROM editing tool (mamaich tools)
Link to my rom:
Direct link
Everything should be ok! but I can not find Initflashfiles.dat inside my dumped folder. I want to remove some files from my rom to have some more space. According to posts in xda-developers after removing files I must edit some parts in Initflashfiles.dat.
Did any one face with this problem?
Is it possible to remove files and flash rom on my device without editing Initflashfiles.dat ? is it risky issue?
Thanks in advance

no one?

Did you uncheck "hide protected operating system files" for folder options in windows?

The initflashfiles.dat must be in there somewhere. Do a search on it and make sure you search for hidden files as well.

How do I integrate apps into the OS ROM for Wizard

I have been able to extract the EXT ROM and OS ROMs using the NB2NBF and IMGFS tools. I know that by using a custom ROM I can save on storage space by loading in my programs. I'd like to load Pocket Informat, Alarm Today, Phone Alarm , isilo and TCPMP into the OS ROM. How do I do this? I have all their cabs. I will keep reading the forums too.
I know that some like summiter have done this. Anyone able to help me get started or point me in the right direction?
J-Man5
the only device i ever heard supporting that is walaby
dont know if it's possible with other devices
i mean the os part of the rom is well you know full already
yes it is possibel.you need a tool called [typhoonnbfdecode_v5] look for this tool and how to use somehere in the ftp, and here in the wizard forums
you need to make a dump of the os from a nk.nbf image with the above tool
then you need to extract the files from de cabs you want plus the reg settings,
simply copy the extracted files from cab to your rom dump folder
make a cab file with the reg files from the cab files an also the shortcuts to the programs.
repack the rom with the typhoonnbfdecode_v5, convert the nba image with NB2NBF back to nbf and flash, after that install the cab with reg settings plus shortcuts,
you have a long jorney ahead.
i took me several weeks to make my own rom with netcf.2,adobe acrobat e several other programs integrated to the rom.

OK I have gotten the nk.nbf extracted and the EXT ROM opened using winimage and the OS ROM dumped via imgfs.
Where I am running into problems understanding is how to unpack the .cab install files for the programs I am planning on using and how to "move" them to the \Program Files\ directories that they need to be in. For example PocketInformant is loaded into the \Program Files\WebIS directory. Do I put all the files from the .cab file in the dump OS directory? Is there some sort of program that will extract the .cab file and let me look at what registry settings are being set by its installation?
What program is used to create registry settings into a .cab file?
Thanks

How to implement new *.provxml in new ROM

Hi,
unfortunately I am not able to implement a new *provxml to a new ROM.
I know http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398025
and some other threads, but all my entries (Mailaccounts, WiFi informations - which I got with rapiconfig) are not in my new ROM.
I am doing somewhere a mistake. It does not work:
I have done the following:
1. created an acconts.provxml
2. renamed to _setup.xml
3. Created an OEM package with Ervius Package Creator.
Have now 5 files in the OEM folder: _setup.xml, *.rgu, *.dsm (size 0k), option.xml and initflashfiles.txt
4. Moved option.xml out of the OEM folder
5. Drag and drop OEM folder over BuildDSM.exe. This creates a new *dsm (size 1k)
6. place back option.xml in OEM folder
7. copy OEM folder under \Packages - i have tested also the OEM folder
8. cooked and burned ROM
Does someone has a OEM package with a *.provxml (including email2 and wi-fi infos). All imported emai-addresses and wifi info van be deleted of course. ?
If I use "rapiconfig.exe /p _setup.xml" all my infos are ok.
Any help is welcome.

this is what works for me...
you have to name it:
mxipupdate_zz_oemoperators_100_PPC+All_filename.provxml
you can replace 'filename' with whatever you wish.
(there should be no space in provxml, this editor isn't working right for some reason)
let us know if this works for you...

Hello,
what do you really mean ?
I have renamed my _setup.xml to mxipupdate_zz_oemoperators_100_PPC+All_filename.provxml and put this file \OEM\OperatorPKG. After cooking and burning my Kaiser does not boot any longer - I have to reverted to my old ROM.

have you tried creating a cab file with your _setup.xml?
see if that works, maybe your xml has errors.
as far as creating a dsm, all I did was drop the file into another oem folder that already had some provxml files.
the fact that your phone won't boot now would indicate to me that after the filename change the file is indeed being processed, but the xml has errors.
download the 'tmobileforromcooks.zip' file in the following post and compare the provxml files with yours.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2237367&postcount=1
good luck

hint hint: Try adding these settings to an already existing prov.
as i read somwhere you cannot add any provxml file in a dumped rom! but u can change and add reg edits in an existing provxml file. and theres another thing i think you should know: provxml files are the last reg based files that will get written in the cooked rom SO they have the ability to change and overwrite rgu files that you created if they both have the same reg path but diff values.

Well, if you have the ROM already, it depends on what phone it comes from. Once you have the files out, you have to look at packages in the OEM and SYS folders, find the corresponding files, and look through the RGU's and HV files for needed registry keys. And of course, you also have to check the initflash.txt and iniflash.dat files.

NEW_visual multilang/multidevice/multibuild kitchen for last bepe rom-tools!!V.12.6.3

Hello everyone, put my old kitchen, a little 'restored.
IMPORTANT: To build a good rom, you 1st have to dump an original rom for your preferred device, to have all files needed to build it after (header.xml, splash.xml ecc...)
List of Features:
Check rom version for exchange for new payloads (tested on hd2 rom 3.14 and it worked!), some minor adjustments, the editor, RGU, app.ref etc ..., now always starts as an administrator.
to test it, dump an original rom and then have fun customizing!
New style, new tricks at runtime, new tools for dumping and building !!!!! (Libnb.dll!)
Fixed bugs on inclusion radio.nb and splash.nb !!!!!
Import into .\ext, old-style packages, OEMpack, EXTPack (and also from Cab files
in the context menu is also remodule package (from files to module!) and re-file package (from modules to files!); other bugs solved!
Rapi connection problem solved with device in activesync and remove ring tones, images by default!:
Feature on delete files (ringtones, images (wallpapers) and other images (avatars) from a folder in oem \ langdevice \ .....)
Features to all feedback packages, from kitchen and easily editable text file (packages_usefull_infos.txt) in the root of the kitchen.
Can also import "rebuild dumped roms", from DFT dumped, OSkitchen kitchens and RAW Dumped roms!
Support to run the cabs charged by hands at 1st boot after flash!
Save & restore all tweaks in all the tabs when save/load a rom!
Added info exchange Rom language and Rom on the first use of header.xml libnb.dll nbh file to create!
Added new feature to force the run provxmls in Rom
Now when a dump .NBH, the new build is imported, in your EVK in use!
.\TOOLS folder
Inside the folder .\tools, you will find a new folder: registry_tweaks. The .\registry_tweaks folder includes some sample files. Replace and/or add .REG and .PROVXML files, name the files properly and the .REG files will be added as registry entries, the .PROVXML will be renamed as ****. ZZZZ_ provxml, as files are added. provxml, precisely in the rom and run when you first start to customize the rom as you like
The kitche includes two context menus for adding new .REG or .PROVXML files, edit them or delete if unused one!
Also includes new versions of DSM_editor and implantxip (no fake virus info about, someone in previous version, not me, inserted automatic "admin execution" with a kind of utility, into my implantxip.exe!, and maybe that "trick", was detect as fake virus, now, with my original updated version of implantxip.exe, my kaspersky doesn't find anything!!!!!)
Note
DSM_editor and implantxip (no fake virus info about, someone in previous version, not me, inserted automatic "admin execution" with a kind of utility, into my implnatxip.exe!, and maybe that "trick", was detect as fake virus, now, with my original updated version of implantxip.exe, my kaspersky doesn't find anything!!!!!)

That might come in handy for some ppl.
For my part, I'm used to command line as my primary WS is linux based. As a matter of fact, i prefer it.
@Ervius: Do you have any experience in coding for unix/linux?
At some point, pof coded a htc-flasher kitchen, but it was mostly wrappers for the windows programs.
Most of the tools we use for ROM building have their source code available, so...
Anyways, I'm off.

GREAT!!
I'm testing it in my kitchen just today. I'm looks fantastic. Thanks!!.

In any case this is a great work!!.

On the other hand (I know this is not the best post to speak about), Your active sync killer is not working fine in 2.xx ROMs. Are you preparing a new one? Do you have a solution?. Thank a lot in advance.

you can adapt, but add other languages, near 0409\ and 0410 folders you can add 04xx\ or o8xx\ all you want, the kitchen at start recognizes how many into, and show all into combobox, you only have to choice in witch language want build the rom
for activesync killer, what you refer to, mine or the original by eliasweb???
bye!
I've detected this trouble in both. I've test them in several ROMS based on 'oficial' v.2.xx. I'm going to look for your post and follow this trouble there. Thanks.

visual kitchen version beta1 released at 1st post, and see all ROM\ structures.....
Hi ervius, thanks for your tool.
I was trying beta1.
I have a couple of questions:
i've tried to import a package (generated with package creator) , I browse to the folder containing it, but after the right-click-> import package, it doesn't appear in the list of the applications.
I see it has been copied to the EXT folder but nothing more.
Also importing a package resets all the choices I made on what packages to include/exclude
If you need more details just ask
Thanks

very nice, I will test this this week, and see if i notice anything. once again thank you

[ASK] How to port WM6.5 into my M490 WM6.1(T-Omnia)

Hi. Everyone.
At first, I'd like to appreciate all you guys. I've learned so many things from you.
Thank you so much.
This time I wanna ask you for giving me hands.(again~) And I hope someone would help me ^^
I'm trying to port WM6.5(0409) into my SCH-M490(0412, this is the Korean domestic version of the Samsung Omnia phone).
As far as I've searched for the way how to do it,
I found that I have to replace XIP, SYS and MUI with released WM6.5 ROM.
But I'm still confused what exactly I should do.
I'll describe here the process that I will go.
plz correct wrong one or add insufficient information.
# Preparation
1. Download SCH-M490's WM6.1 PDA.BIN Rom file and i900's WM6.5 ROM (PDA.BIN of course)
2. Download all tools I need (osbntools.exe, xipport.exe, dump.exe and so on.)
# XIP Porting (I think I already succeeded this)
1. Dump original WM6.1 ROM and extract XIP.BIN.
2. Dump i900's WM6.5 ROM and extract XIP.BIN, too.
3. With xipport.exe, dump them both and make packages.
4. Replace original XIP.BIN's MSXIPKernel package with new XIP.BIN's one.
(I know I have to do this for both FILES and MODULES folders)
5. Remove some module's which are known as unnecessary. (If I meet the alert saying "not enough space" when realloc. such as hd.dll, osaxst0.dll and so on)
6. Realloc P, write maps, check collisons, correct them (if any), build xip_out.bin.
7. insert new "xip_out.bin" into OS.NB by using osnbtool.exe.
# SYS replacement
1. Remove all files from original WM6.1 dump's sys folder, but .ROM and .VM folder.
2. Copy all files in the sys folder of WM6.5 ROM (except .ROM and .VM folder) to original dump's sys folder.
# MUI Translation
1. Find all files that have string "0412" for their file names (mostly, they will be in the OEM dump folder I guess).
2. Rename them (0412 -> 0409).
3. Open every mui file, which has .mui as their file extention, with reshacker.exe.
4. Translate resources as many as I can and Recompile them.
5. Find all *.rgu files in the OEM dump folder.
6. Open them all and find string "0412" and change them to "0409".
# Flashing
1. Build a rom.
2. Download the Rom to my M490 by using UMDL_GrandPrix_V1.8.1
So.. I wanna change
Language : 0412 -> 0409
OS : WM6.1 -> WM6.5
Are there something wrong? Are there something I missed? (I'm not talking about my grammar. lol)
I wish if someone would answer you!!!
I think in the SYS folder, you can replace the .ROM folder. But, you cannot replace the WinCENLS_WWE folder, I think.
Also, inside the SYS/Shell folder, you shouldn't replace shell32 and shellres.
That's what I've read. I'm pissed that I can't get this working either, though!!!
are you using that phone in the US?
If so which provider are you using and where can i buy one!?

You are correct about a few things here, but not everything.
You are right about the WINCENLS. This is usually device-specifc and should not be replaced when cooking. The .ROM can be replaced but not the .VM.
Now, as far as I understand rom cooking, the shell is changed from build to build. You may end up with weird, unstable results if you don't match it with the rom you are trying to cook.
@samuel281,
I think you pretty much nailed everything down. What exactly isn't working for you? It isn't flashing, booting, doesn't create the rom (error in the build process)?
One other thing, as far as the SYS, all you need to replace are the Files and Modules. You just need to make sure that you are using what you are supposed to (either Files or Modules).
