Htc Weather Plug

Hi,
I've just bought an Htc Cruise, and wanted to add Luxemburg to the Weather plugin, but without success.
I changed the HH_409_WeatherCities.xml buy adding Luxemburg.

First I disabled the htc Home in the Settings.
Softreset.
I changed the hh_409_WeatherCities.xml.
Moved The hh_409_Weathercities.xml to Windows Folder.
I receive the message "Unable to retrieve data for selected city."

Are you sure your internet connection is on Of course just at that moment accuweather.com may be unreachable. Try againt in 30 min and make sure you have correctly confured internet on the phone

The Internet connection is working.
When i'm selecting another city it works.
But with cities i added in the xml file it doesn't work.

As I understand it, the HTC weather plugin actually routes it's requests through HTC themselves, and they only serve certain (ie: the default) cities. Have a look at this thread where the author claims to have found a solution:

Excuse me for my bad English ...
The file HH_409_WeatherCities.xml may be "read-only", "System" or "in ROM" and can not be rewritten?

First you have to patch the HTCHome.dll, then you can change the xml-file.

I had the same problem myself, but i found that Resco Explorer can overwrite the file
Btw...the patching of the dll really works, and made the weather plugin work for me!

problems editing the file too
I am having problems editing the file to support my local weather. I have found by reading various post that its a very simple process. But my new WM6.1 ROM on my AT&T Tilt has set the file permissions to "ROM". I have already edited a new copy of the file only to find out its "in ROM" status keeps me from deleting or modifying the file.
I would love to know if I can edit a "in ROM" file.

I had the same problem, but it was solved patching the DLL after disabling the plug-in and copying the the XML file with the Resco. After that, all runs fine

Maybe I am wrong but you spell Luxemburg, but the link is LUXEMBOURG (OU) not (U). In brief you're missing a letter to the word Luxembourg

Just search for HTC Home Customizer - it'll do what you want.

HTC Home Weather Plug-in

Firstly, unfortunately HTC home customiser cannot alter the original HTC home plugin (or i never got it to work ), you have to unistall the original and use the one downloaded by HHC, which has bugs (mail icon does not open mail but messaging etc etc)
I downloaded the fixed version of HTC home from here, which allows you to input user city via registry or using advanced config. Works for me and you can manually configure to how you wish it to look. Ive attached the diamond style clocks/icons should you wish to use them, thanks to varanusvincent

Verizon VX6900

So, i got a 6900, and all is well, but i havent the foggiest idea how to edit the city i live in. I live in a the country and it wont find my city. Even when i add it to the XML file, it doesnt find anything. This may not be the right place to post, but i have been using the 6800 (and cooking alot) so, i'm a charp guy with these things.
and yes, i did a search but didnt find anything
EDIT : CANCEL THAT....it was on the 3rd page... ugh! curses!!

Well I installed the HHC Customizer version 1.0 from pocketemu without any issues onto device memory and when I ran the program I got the following error:
An unexpected error has occurred in homcust.exe.
Select Quit and then restart this program, or select Details for more information.
The system cannot find the file specified.
homecust.exe
FileNotFoundException
at
OpenNETCF Drawing, Imaging, ImagingFactory, CreateImageFromFile().....etc...
So, I thought...maybe I need something else...well I got the cab from the same site for NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab and it doesn't install. I get a message that a newer version is already installed.
Any help will be appreciated. This is a brand new vx6900 from verizon with nothing else installed except what I tried above.
**** UPDATE ****
I fixed this issue by re-doing the whole installation again. Here is how I did it:
1 - I installed HTC Home Plugin v2.1 (hermes version) from pocketemu.com <downloads section>
2 - reset
3 - I installed HHC (Home Customizer v1.0 (Final version) from pocketemu.com <downloads section>
4 - reset
All good!!!

How to add my own city to HTC Home

I recently got myself a Polaris (original danish ROM), and would very much have my own city in the HTC Home Weather tab. I've tried to edit the Windows\HH_0406_Weather.xml. Couldn't edit it with Total Commander so I edited it on my pc and uploaded it to my device. This doesn't work, all I get is an error saing that it can't retrieve information at the time and i should retry. I also tried Shap's Advanced Configuration Tool, and added my city there, but that doesn't work either.
How can I add my city to HTC Home Weather tab?
Ps. My Accuweather code is: EUR|DK|DA009|STRUER

thats a bit tricky you have to patch your HTCHome.dll with a new URL which does not limit the Cities. I've done that i can upload this dll if you want.
If you've got an originial ROM then HTCHome Plugin is found in the programs folder otherwise most likely in the windows folder.
if you will use the patched DLL you have to switch off these things with singed drivers or software. otherwise execution will be prevented by windows.

HTC LIVE HOME - I removed for error! how to install again?

Please how to installa gain the HTC LIVE HOME in my touch cruise?
i removed for error the program and I lost everything in the home screen, no clock/alarm, no accuweather, etc etc
what to do? should I find the original ROM and install it again or what?

Get this file
HTC Home 2.1 for all other devices (Schen cab, WM6 only)
This will install the 6 tab home plug in on that you can change the city to any city you want. This modify it to go to a differt site to get the weather data. Just read the directions and it will tell you how to modify the weather file to add cities.

Titanium Weather problem

Well, the problem is that I can't see the temperature and I only see red crosses. I live in Holland, so my location (I looked it up) gave me
EUR|NL|NL002|LELYSTAD
But I can't get ANY information about the weather at all. I even tried to set the location to Amsterdam, but without any result.
Can someone help me out?

You may need to install a Patch for Weather to work properly.
Download the patch from that page, install it, soft reset, update Weather.
It worked for me.

I need help guys, I just updated my rom and i am using the wm 7 homescreen and icant get the weather to work correctly. i installed the patch from the wingster. it did nothing, so i uninstalled and reinstalled and soft reset. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Won't even appear on home screen for me :-(
I have Windows Mobile 6.5 on a Palm Treo 750 (QVGA).
I followed all steps to install QVGA version.
Everything appears to go ok.
I have the TitaniumWeather Icon on the Start Menu/Utilities.
I can run it and configure it and the update appears to go ok
(it connects to internet and I don't get any errors)
But the Weather NEVER shows up on my home screen.
I looked in the CHome Editor and it shows the TitaniumWeather is there and enabled.
Why won't it show up??
