Is there anyway to change the frequency that HTC Home weather tab updates itself?
The same problem....
any solusions?
go to menu, weather options, and change from there
No, I know how to get it to update automatically!
I am asking how to change the frequency of how many times it will automatically check the server itself!! Is there a registry setting,s as I can't find one?
did we ever get anymore information on this? does anyone know what the frequency is set to default?
the default update seems to be just over 2 hours for me...
According to the Touch's user manual "weather information will automatically be downloaded from the AccuWeather Web Site whenever you select the Weather tab, if the data has not been updated within the last three hours. Weather data will also be downloaded every time an ActiveSync connection occurs..."
I have looked for a registry value that would control this frequency, but so far have not found it.

I am wordering if anyone had any issues with timing? Basically i have tried most of the ROMz here, the time for New Zealand is gone funny, the mins should be the same as rest of countries but it does not
does anyone have the same issues? or anyone can help here? many thanks.
I am having a similar problem with the time, everytime I sync my phone the time moves and the date, hour and minutes are completely different. How can this stop?
Im not sure if this is the same problem as you guys, but the TFL3D world clock does not seem to recognize DST so it is off 1 hour from the windows clock. Everytime you open world clock it changes the time by 1 hour and resets your appointments. This also sometimes happens when you sync.
My work around is to set the TFL3D world clock to local city and manually change time to be correct, than go to the windows clock via settings and set it to the correct timezone. Each time you sync now you need to unclick TFL3D in "settings", "Today" before you sync. Also, do not open the world clock application or you will have to reset all the time settings again.
I've looked for a better solution but have not been able to find on yet.
Hi
I was wonderig if anyone has had problems with the Daylight savings time? I've tried downloading and installing the WMDST2008-1.cab file from microsoft and this hasnt seemed to help.
Everytime I sync the phone with my computer the time goes back an hour to what it was prior to dst. The calender seems to be out of sync too. I'm aware you can set it to not sync the date and time, but this isnt the best solution.
Im usign Duttys 2.4 xtreme ROM...Could this effect it too?
Cheers for any help.
P.S im in the UK if that makes a difference.
Interested in this as have exactly the same issue at the moment. Changed it last night, came into work today and it changes back an hour.
Any help will be gratefully received
I have found that the problem arises, when you select your home city through Manila, by clicking on the clock and then choosing a city.
Manila assigns the wrong timezone. I live in the GMT+1: Berlin, Rome timezone, but when I select my home city (Aachen) and then go to Settings -> System -> Clock&Alarms I can see, that Manila has chosen West Central Africa as my timezone, which is also GMT+1 and just below my timezone in the list, but obviously doesn't have daylight savings time.
Look for yourself, if you have that problem, you can correct it by selecting the correct timezone throught Settings -> System -> Clock&Alarms.
Manila will still have your previously selected city as your home city.

Hi I have the same problem and it has just when I sync it through Active Sync on to my PC.
It goes back by one hour.
And setting the time without Manilla doesn't work.

Ah, this seems to have worked. I went into the settings you mentioned and adjusted the clock. The timezone was correct, but i reselected it anyway and have just synced my phone and my time hasn't readjutsed...success...for now! Thanks.
Althought my calender is still out of sync. In outlook I have an event booked all day on the 29th April, however on my phone it's showing up as all day on the 28th!! Any ideas?
Had the same problem today, readujsted settings plus manila, then sync the phone and time was again set 1 hour back.
I finally did it the other way round (manila then settings) and it seems to hold after a few syncs
Same problem here in Australia. As soon as you touch anything in Manila time & date or alarms, you have to go back into settings and reset the Timezone.
It has gotten better - it used to change Sydney to Guam now it only changes Sydney to Brisbane...
You might want to check this setting also.
I found this would knock my Cal out by 1 hour :
Start > Settings > Phone > Time Zones Tab : Untick "Automatic change time zone and clock"
had it too
I had the same thing - or similar, the clock said the correct time but all the appointments shifted an hour and the alarm was going off an hour later - really bizarre, i un-ticked the box as recommended by the last person (settings, phone, automatic update). Hmm spoke to soon - thought it had worked but same problem as before! Year on year the same story, how frustrating!
The solution is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3555237&postcount=11
Dupe thread, please post comments on the fix in the other thread.

**This might work for you**
Tried it several times and it worked
All Hero roms I've installed have had the -4hr timestamp issue. I initially thought it was a time zone issue but it wasnt so here's what I did...
1) Click the clock and manually add your city (if you haven't done so already) and delete all other cities
2) Go under settings --> date & time --> (uncheck) automatic --> Select time zone and select Azores (GMT +00)
3) Set the time to your current time and exit to the home screen
4) Click and hold to discard the clock
5) Re-install the clock widget and choose current city and voila!!
Let me know how it works for you
yea i've been doing this since the good old WM5 days. Works for me.
but yea this is a temp fix as your MMS will be off along. You can also mess up the calendar times.
Haven't experienced any calendar or MMS issues, will update if I do
Been testing this trick out with all hero roms I've installed thus far and its worked with all of them. 200 views and 1 feedback?
just tried it.. so far so good.. im in Brantford just south of you.. im using JacHeroski 2.7.4r2 and it work fine with it on my rogers magic
this fix works fine as long as your not using google calendar, if you are, you need to log into your calendar and change the timezone to match the timezone on your phone. then you need to adjust all of your appointments by 4 hours.

+1 Good call, was using my device calendar and hadn't tested with any sync source.
Hi all,
Having the same issue. Am in Pakistan but got my hands on a Orange Hero running the Orange stock ROM. Time stamp issue really fracked up the SMS! Just changed ALL timezones on Google apps, desktop and the Hero itself. lets see if this works.
cheers,
Z
I would like to know how the accuweather tab in touchflo3D updates the weather. Is it a link that can also manually be started?
The thing is that I only use wifi. I use a schedule to turn on wifi every morning to sync my work mail. I would also like to update my weather in this timeslot if possible.
So is there a .exe or .lnk file that I can use?
I've had several problems with my new HD2.
The most recent and most worrying was it not coming out of sleep, pressing or holding the power button did not wake the device, nor did any other button or screen presses for that matter. I had to remove the battery in the end. It had happened overnight when I woke up this morning it wasn't working and then 20 minutes later when I got to work the same problem, charge is at about 71%
I read on another forum that there was a firmware fix for this on these forums but couldn't find anything...
The others are configuration problems im sure, I'm with T-Mobile (UK) and just selected TMobile during the setup wizard, all the basic stuff works like phone/sms/email (google and exchange) and browsing, but I've noticed twitter won't log in with any account...nor does MSN messenger, I've read somewhere that it's because some services expect the connection called "Internet" but with T-Mobile settings it gets renamed to "The Internet"...Still I changed the name of the service and it caused more problems than it fixed...is there a way to change what network that messenger and twitter use?
Other than these problems it's a really nice device, very pleased with it! Oh and great forums by the way, very helpful, the tips thread is fantastic.
*edit*
I should also add that I noticed sub folders in outlook don't sync, for example the inbox syncs fine with exchange 2003 but all my subfolders inside the inbox are all empty.
For the power problem see This thread . The problem may well be with the 'notification queue' and installing some software to manage this has helped a lot of people with the same problem
Your connection problems may be related to T-Mobile's connection settings, though I'm not certain as I don't use T-Mobile. It used to be that by default, T-Mobile add a Proxy Server entry in their connection settings. This is OK for standard email and surfing, but may not allow access to other services. The old trick was to simply remove the tick from the 'Proxy Server' tab in Settings/Connections/Connections (accessed from the Sense Settings tab, then Menu/Show all Settings.
For the Outlook sub folders, you need to go into your Messaging program, then hit 'Menu' then scroll the window up to see a 'Tools' submenu. From here you can access the 'Manage Folders' list where Inbox should have a '+' to allow it to expand.

I used to have the exact same problem with "waking up" the device, until I removed some program links from the StartUp folder.
It seems to me that for some weird reason that folder is processed each time the device comes back from suspend mode and some of the apps in there just didn't play right with my HD2.
Or maybe the apps started in there just don't like the suspend mode in general.
So after I had reduced the number of apps started upon boot-up to an absolute minimum, I no longer have any issues with waking my HD2 up.
Also, you should implement the GPRS reg hack to reduce battery consumption.
I found that auto-disabling the GPRS data connection after 5 minutes inactivity made all the difference on my HD2 for preserving battery power.
Finally, disable that brain damaged "two step" unlock procedure of the HTC stock ROM either via a Registry Hack or by flashing Tom's or Leo's ROM from XDA (requires SPBL to be installed first).
For most of these tweaks you can also try the "BsB Tweaks" program (also to be found on XDA), w/o the need to flash or hack anything.
Sorry, but I don't use T-Mobile, so I can't help you there.
Thank you both, I've fixed my outlook now and looking through the other fixes. Much appreciated!

WM is still troubled with the notification queue problem? I used to have problems with that on my first WM phone, when my alarms wouldn't go off in the morning. I gave up in the end, and so never used my device as an alarm clock. And having come from Psions that had (and still do) the best alarm clock and calendar feature, I found it really disappointing.
I'll have to have a look at that thread. Thanks.

Agreed- it is a lot better than it used to be (till now!) but I resolutely refuse to use the built in Alarms due to their unreliability, and have been using Chronos for the last 2 years (much better than Spb Time, if less graphically pleasing!)
I dont have alarms set only for ones generated at work through calendar items, so I disabled calendar item sync
Yup...unticking proxy server lets MSN connect, again big thanks for this!
Anyone know the implications of this, will it stop other services from working or end up charging me more or something (on an unlimited data tarrif from tmob)

It shouldn't make any difference- T-Mobile just use it to limit the connectivity to their own servers, but there's no penalty for not using the 'feature'.

Yes it is a bit flaky around here! That is why I now have a Vodafone Access Gateway femtocell at home, so I now have 5 bars of 3G signal!
