GPS without GPS hardware

Anybody know of any products that will run without the hardware? just over WAP/GPRS?
RAC does a system called trackm8 but it costs about £500 to set up then £150 a year. It is so cheap to add a gps to your xda, I have seen TOMTOM3 with gps selling for just over £100.

Would be good if people learned that its not possible to measure performance just based on megahertz.
Dual processing , greater battery performance . Benchmarked already to perform better than the Magician . WM2005 helps out a lot here too , it's a design thing and the developers have listened . Battery technology is not moving as fast as chipset technology so enhance the processor and the operating system to compensate. Makes sence to me .
If your not convinced, then wait , I'm sure there will be loads of reviews coming up soon.
Shallax , I'm sure you've seen this but this what the wizard will be put on Ebay for.
HTC Hermes [Pocket PC phone]
- should be 1st half of 2006
- like HTC Wizard with slide QWERTY Keyboard
- Size also about the same
- video call camera on the top right corner of the screen.
- it s 3G (UMTS)
- Wi-Fi, IR & Bluetooth
- 2.1 Mpixels Camera (Behind)
P.S can't believe you haven't had a phone for amonth  Must be like giving up smoking
Yep, definitely sounds good... but I need a phone NOW! Maybe I'll upgrade later down the road ;p
And yes, being without a phone is pretty bad - having never smoked I can't really compare ;p
Hi everyone, since i not yet have any i-mate phone yet, i cannot be a member of the i-mate site, can anyone help me to login with i-mate 's support site and download the manual of the K-jam ? Thanks
Check this out from the i-mate site

I think that that means the Bluetooth 2.0 rumors were correct!! Yes!
Possibly - we'll see. Im not holding out too much hope for this.
*Edit* Woah, hangon: http://www.qtek.fi/qtek9100.htm - seems Qtek has revised this page "Bluetooth 2.0"!
I-Mate site
unfortunately the club I-Mate site won't let you download the manuals/view the faq unless you have a k-jam registered. So even the folks who have access to the site, but do not have a k-jam registered can't get to the information.

CoPilot for Ameo

I've now heard from 2 sources that T-Mobile will make available CoPilot for the Ameo (more info here).
Anyone else have any more details?

I have CoPilot for my HTC TyTN. I recently received my HTC Advantage/x7500/Athena and have been using TomTom. I like TomTom much better.

I was using Copilot version 5 for a while before the GPS problem came in to prevent me using it, but that's another story.
The question that I want to ask is, with version 6, were you able to see the addresses in your address book? With version 5 I was not able to do that. Instead of listing the names in address book like it used to under windows mobile 2003, it merely asks me to enter the state and city, but worst is that the keyboard is not there for me to make any entry (both copilot's own keyboared and WM5's keyboard were missing).

Keyboard worked perfectly for me and I was able to navigate to a contact's address. If I didn't answer your question let me know. I've since installed CoPilot on my girlfriends Universal and can check into things for you.
Has any one of you used copilot with either ozVGA or MvRTVGA? I found two problem:
a. It occupies only 1/4 of the screen.
b. when using the Option Menu, only the first tab can be edited. All the other tabs have gone missing.
Come across this problem? How do you fix them?
Thanks.

I'll double that bet and say get IGO as it's even more superior than tomtom6
I can confirm that T-Mobile now stock the Ameo with Co Pilot,
I've received it today. Yet to install it though, will do that later and tell you if I have the same problems regarding screen size and options. I have been told that this was a fault recognised which is why there was a delay in release and the box clease says "now compatible with T-Mobile Ameo" so perhaps a software update..?
Gives you a okay quality mount to put the item in the car, and a car charger also.
Plus I like some of the trace facilities that Co-Pilot has to offer over TomTom Buddies

Never used co-pilot, but iGo beats TomTom with a ****ty stick. It's just more polished, faster to load maps, re-calculates routes quicker.
If you want to try it to compare then it is available on torrent. Although I'm not condoning that type of activity mind you.

Yes, I hope they come out with US maps soon. I would love to give it a try. Just curious as to the accuracy of the product. Looking good is one thing, but getting you where you need to be is another alltogether.
I remember that CoPilot wasn't that accurate based on my experience. So far TomTom has been great.

I-go is much faster and smoother and the routing is far better (largely because you can customise it much more than TomTom). The only thing TomTom does better is traffic (which is not available for I-go)

But to use TMC you need an RDS TMC decoder, which the Ameo does not have. Also, note that TMC messages can be hacked:http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=54812

Does our Imagio have "Real Compass" hardware??

I have been searching for the best and most usefull apps and came across a real nice digital compass. Of course there is no reference to if it will work on an imagio or not. All the forums say "we need actual compass hardware" for them to work. Sorry I don't know the correct terms better. but does anyone know if we can get a real compass on this thing
this is the one I'm talking about :

Here are two...try both! I know Its not the same exact but these both have extra features.
on the HDspeedo you may need to click "ok" several times b4 it loads, other than that they work flawlessly!
so does the htc imagio have a digital compass, i saw these apps for the iphone on bbc click online call augmented reality AR apps, and was wonderin if the imagio would support them once they came out for the windows mobile 6.5, if you dont know what im talkin about go to acrossair.com , it would be awsome if AR apps worked with the htc imagio/wm6.5...

We can say the radio is the part of the rom that manages all the wireless connections (phone, bluetooth, wifi, gps...). The newer the version, the better it works (supposely)

No prob
HD mini has a rather high rate of defective units. HTC is usually willing to replace the unit immediately under the warranty period. So that's fine.
But without warranty, it's a big risk to buy HD mini. You cannot find out all the problems in one sitting. Not even in one whole day. You need at least a few days, say, one week, with intensive testing, to bring out the major problems if they exist.
syrian
u are really the expert thanks for helping me
