Just got the the Motorola T 605 Automotive Music and Hands-free System installed into my car. Works great with the Kaiser (I have the TILT) for both Hands-free and Wireless Stereo BT profiles. When connected with a vehicle specific adapter harness, the stereo is automatically muted for incoming calls, and conversation is played from front speakers only. A long press on the talk button even launches Cyberon Voice Speed Dial (which is provided with the TILT). When using Wireless Stereo and WMP, all skip/ forward/ back/ pause/ play functions work flawlessly. Provided BT is enabled on the kaiser before the ignition is turned on, the connection for both profiles is automatic. Very nice adition for those of us who own a car that did not come with factory BT.
Wiring Harness
Hi, Where did you find the vehicle specific wiring harness?

Hi,
I happen to have the same car kit and my Kaiser doesn't find it!
My T605 is discovered and works flawlessly with my SonyEricsson K800i phone (both for call and streaming music) as well as my old HP IPAQ 5555 (obviously, only for music with this one).
On the other hand, my Kaiser works flawlessly with both Plantronics 590A and Jabra BT8010 in both modes.
So, what could be wrong? I have the latest Shap's ROM (4.31) on my Kaiser, didn't try it with the stock one.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks!

That's a tough one. Mine connected first time to both BT profiles with the 605. I do recall a limitation on the 605 regarding how many partnerships the T605 supports. Although it's a pain, I'd suggest clearing all partnerships from the T605, and the Kaiser, and then try and connect again. I'm using a TILT, but had no issues with either ROM in my sig.
Which is better? The T605 or the T505?

I think 605 requires professional install, but 505 doesn't
So I'm going to help my buddy install the T605 into his saturn Ion (04). The demo on the motorola website says you can buy a harness to make the phone call go through the oem speakers and not have to use the 5W powered speaker. Is this harness necessary or will this happen for you when you follow the install instruction?
Also, If this is not controlled by the aux port on the HU how will the music (A2DP) play through the system? There must be relays in the HF unit to do this? Or will I need to go through the aux port on the HU?
I have the IHF1000 in my car and that was a very easy install......Other than tapping into the OEM wires this should be pretty cut and dry? As long as you know what OEM wires to use?
Motorola has been completely useless as far as tech support goes.
For Motorola T605 and IHF1000 vehicle-specific adapter harnesses, try the selection from www.peripheralelectronics.com (their CelFi harnesses), or the drive&talk harnesses at www.nicestuffonline.com . A solution should be there somwhere between them for the ION.
As for the integration, connect the RCA L/R output from the T605 to an available MP3 or aux. input, or find an aux. input adapter for your vehicle (examples are from Blitzsafe, Periperhal Electronic's Aux2Car and others). If there is no specific adapter available for your vehicle, you could always use Scosche's FM-MOD01 FM modulator to bring the audio in DIRECTLY through the FM antenna port (vehicle-specific antenna adapters may be required). The in-line modulator works without static, unlike that of many FM broadcast/transmitter solutions.

As mentioned above, the easiest thing to do is start by sourcing the vehicle specific adapter from one of those companies in the previous post and go from there. I did that, and installed the t605 in my car in NO time. You just plug the adapter into the back of your stereo, plug the harness from the t605 to that, and then run the lines out for the mic and for the controls, then run RCA from the t605 to your AUX connection (either 3rd party aux interface or factory opening if you have it). It's freaking great. You're done in NO time. The handsfree is GREAT, and even better is that you can stream whatever you want from your phone... I'll take shoutcast and internet radio over paying for XM/Sirius any day of the week.

If you were able to run another moto unit you'll have no trouble with this... it just adds one connection for the audio.
I'm sure the answer is probably yes, but it helps clear things up for me to speak them out loud.
Here is what I want to have happen. I want to be able to put my Tilt in my car and have my car to play music from the Tilt through the car's speakers. I don't care whether it is through a wired connection or a wireless connection via Bluetooth or an FM transmitter. Will this do this fine?
Like I said, I think the answer is yes, but I would like someone else to confirm it. And I was going to get a separate Bluetooth headset to use in the car and just walking around. I'll still get that, but I think this should be fine when I'm driving in the car and I must take a call.
Final question. How is the sound quality coming through the speakers and how is the reception on the other end? Can they hear you fine?

It will work, but I think it's a bit overkill if you're looking to go that simple. If you're not hung up on BT why not just buy a basic AUX interface for your car with a 3.5mm jack on it, then grab the adapter to plug it into the bottom to the tilt? It's not as "cool" or "elegant" but heck, if you jsut want to play audio but don't want to stream it why make things hard?

For audio or phone calls?
It's great for audio.
Phone calls are good. Nobody every says they can't hear me, but sometimes if I'm at WOT or have the windows down I can't hear them because the volume output is a tad low. I have a loud car though, so that's more my fault than motorolas.

Wiring Harness
Hi...I have a 2007 Mazda6 with the factory Bose stereo system. I am looking for a 3rd party wiring harness so I can connect the Motorola T605 to the stereo. I have looked at the places mentioned in previous posts to find the harness, but have not been successful...this may be because I am not sure what I am looking for. If someone has any information I would be greatly appreciative...
Thanks!

Here's the deal...I bought a car mount when I bought my XV6800, so I can use it in the car with GPS, however, the audio also come sout of the GPS port, so if I want to listen to music thru my car stero (that has an aux input), I have to use this adapter - LINK...
...of course, then I cannot be charging it while using that adaptor, plus the PDA cannot mount with the audio cable coming out the bottom. so, that is my problem...
Is there a car mount that has a USB extension maybe so that I can have it mounted and charging with ALSO able to run my audio to the aux heaphone (1/8th inch) jack?.
THANKS!
-connor
your 6800 should have come with the USB splitter...

you can get one under the accessories section of the verizon site, though, at $20, you are probably better off looking somewhere else.
what type of car mount did you get? do you have a link for it?
The Seidio G4700X has audio out jack... You can read the specs here....

Holy Cow! 80 dollars for a mount?? my xv6800 was only 110, lol. my current power-only mount was only 10 dollars...jeez
thanks for the site though. they seem to have lots of accesories.

Ghetto Fabulous
Here is what I concocted that works well for me and I spent very little. Some of you may already have most of this.
Features: Charging station, hands-free, mp3 and call output to car stereo, very convenient position for thumb use in portrait or typing in landscape while driving (watch out), horizontal circumferential adjustment as well as vertical adjustment for bad lighting (good for passenger to watch alone).
Drawbacks: phone's mic doesn't work with 3in1 connected; you need to use headset mic (but could be spliced, extended and mounted in side column in car panel), wires can be cumbersome, extends a bit of tension on some connections if you change plugs alot.
I purchased six things:
1. ($15) HTC 3in1 11pin to 10 pin charger/11 pin headset/3.5mm adapter... which you can buy here:
http://store.wmexperts.com/htc-3-in...m=shopping_engine&utm_campaign=GoogleProducts
2. ($7) Retractable 10 pin miniusb to USB2 adapter, something like this:
http://www.provantage.com/belkin-f3u138v03-rtc~7BELC16A.htm
3. ($6) Monster audio cassette adapter:
http://www.thebestsupply.com/MONSTER_3_5mm_iPod_Cassette_Tape_Adapter_p/pcs-ipodcassette.htm
4. ($8) USB2 to cigarette adapter:
http://www.digitlook.com/ILUV-I109BLK-DC-CIGARETTE-LIGHTER-ADAPTER-WITH-USB-OUTPUT_p_2701-22035.html
5. ($6) HTC Mogul/XV6800 Snap-on case with swivel belt clip:
http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-SNAP-ON-C...ryZ20336QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
6. ($3) Vent mounted cup holder from Autozone. Mine is mesh and a little better than others I have seen, but nothing elegant by far.
Total of $45 total and you can use much of these things for many other things, especially the retractable and the headset.
Take the cupholder and put it in the vent nearest your right side of the steering wheel. Clip on the back of the Titan hard case with the belt clip on the side of the cupholder. Your phone will be snug to fit so you may want to sand down some of the little tips but only a hair so you can slide the phone out but not so much it falls out.
The retractable usbmini goes to cigarette lighter, 3.5 mm goes out to the monster tape, and the headset goes in the 10 pin spot on the 3in1. All of that plugs into the Titan. Then put the phone in the cradle and it can swivel 90 degrees either way and stay in that position. You can swivel around the circumference of the cup holder, tilt it up and down with the prop style adjuster, and best of all you can rock it 90 degrees and open it up to type in landscape while still connected to the tether. I speak into the headset mic and voila. You could splice the mic wire and run it through your car colums and set it in the post to the left of the driver pretty easily but this is no high end fix like the Seido.
I will post some better pictures when I have access to a camera tomorrow, this was taken on the Titan.

BTW - when you're able to get a mint condition 6800 for $80 shipped, it doesn't come with anything, lol.
I have had them both. If you want to use bluetooth at all, either for a2dp or earbud, you have to use the 4300x. Since the 4700x has audio out, the phone detects it as if a wired headset is connected, and disables bluetooth. If I understand correctly, the 4300x lacks the circuitry for audio out, so the phone just thinks it has a charger attached, and bluetooth works fine. I use the 4300 with a dual xhd6425 bt enabled car stereo. Sounds pretty good, although there are some reg tweaks you need to do. My 4700 is at seidio now being repaired because it wouldn't output in stereo for some reason. When I get it back, it will go on ebay. Why did I have two in the first place? Long story, mostly involving learning the hard way about the bluetooth issue. PLus the 4700 was part of a package of things I bought from somebody who got rid of their mogul.
This is my third seidio mount (6600, 6700, 6800), I have been very happy with them. Support has been great. They are pricy, but anything else involves cables laying all over the car, and you can always recover most of the cost on ebay if you are a frequent phone upgrader.
I will comment on the cassette adapter, which I used up until the bluetooth setup. I had it attached to a GM factory stereo, and never sounded all that great, plus I always had to crank the volume down one notch on the phone (all 3 of them), or I got horrible static. A2dp is not perfect, there is still a bit of background noise, but it is definitely crisper than the cassette adapter ever was. A lot of variables there though, maybe my stereo just sucked.
i have an AUX input (1/8th inch jack) on the front of my car CD player. I wasnt going to use it for music from my 6800 since my car CD player already can play MP#/WMA CDs, so I was just going to use it for tomtom volume, system volume, etc...
thanks anyway
I have to second the issue on having to crank the volume when hooked to stero with aux jack...basically have to max out the volume on deck to get it cranking...but didnt really hear a quality difference...audiopara helped a little with the sound level though
i have a friend who has the nokia 97 and he showed me an app where he can use the phone as an FM transmitter, kind of like an ipod. Is it possible for the TP2 to do that? im thinking not because he antenna for the radio is in the headphones and not the phone itself like the nokia, but could we develop an app that can make the TP2 have an FM transmitter with the headphones plugged in to access radio?
I think it could make for a great and useful app.

The hardware needed to make it an Fm transmitter is not in the Tp2 and so this is not possible. Ive seen plug in devices that transmit whatever comes out of the headphone socket so this would be your only option i think.
i already use such a transmitter for my TP2.
but it isn't useful.
the transmitter need his own power supply and the TP2 will not be charge while the transmitter is pluged in....
Mic is crap, for talking inside the car very bad.

Im using the exact same thing for my car
Good enough for listening to music on my phone...maybe that's all you want
try a bluetooth a2Dp carkit fm transmitter... wow thats a mouthfull..
Anyway.. search for one of those on ebay. I've used them for years. The unit itself plugs in directly to a power outlet in your car. You use the bluetooth on your phone to transmit stereo audio to the unit which in turn broadcasts the audio to the car stereo. I like this cause.... well no wires. The units also have a "carkit" function so when a call comes in it routes the audio over the stereo too and uses a mic built in that you speak through. Pretty clear I have to say.
They range anywhere from 15 dollars to 60 dollars on ebay. I went with a lower end one and once this breaks (though I've had it for about 3 or so years now) I'll be going with a more expensive one. I've found, at least with the one I have, that when there is no audio actually being transmitted to the device the sound that is played through the stereo in the car is similar to that of an old fax machine, all be it a lot less annoying and loud. When I first started using it I used to just run a loop of white noise from my phone in windows media player and then use the built in audio player in manilla to play actual music... also really handy when driving and using tomtom or something on the phone. ALSO really handy when listening to pandora or slacker radio
Long story short.. look up A2Dp fm transmitter and you guys will be set!
For just listening to music in the car nothing beats the direct wire connection of a 3.5 mm connection, IMHO. But, if you would like a full featured alternative I'd go with an Alpine X10. It has BT for streaming music and phone calls. Also has a direct Ipod connection, which is it's main use.
I've heard nothing but good reviews from the Motorola T505
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/t505/
Yeah I use a T505. It works well but is let down by the TP2s bluetooth stack. However music works fine
I've bought several FM Transmitters, not for my Tilt2 but for different cars without AUX input....do yourselves a favor and just get 3.5MM Stereo AUX Inputs if that is the sole purpose of your phone is to listen to music in your cars.... You can get a new radio with aux as cheap as $100-150 installed...
I sold all the FM transmitters i've bought, the only nice ones cost just as much as a radio installed, and you're not getting full sound quality, plus driving out of town sucks when you hit the biggest radio station of that town, just so happens to be the frequency you selected.
If it's for another purpose, my apologies..
p.s., you can mod them up to sound better on some, you can add antenna (just buy small gauge wire or an actual antenna) - search for your unit to see if it can be modded to cover more range.. I ran 12 feet of wiring all around my Honda Civic when I was in the FM Transmitter phase..
Goodluck
I noticed that when I'm connected to the cars bluetooth I can hear audio from my phone... Sadly the quality is terrible...
Is there anyway to send music to my car while still retaining good music quality?
the aux cable is proving to be a hassle.
Heard about a black berry bluetooth device they ppl on the mbforums use...
that must be your car that is crappy, because i stream BT audio from the phone to the car every time i drive, as it is easier to update my phone with the latest music i want to hear.
quality is perfect, car deck is a CZ509 10" sub, and yes the sound comes out loud and clear on all 6 speakers including the most beloved bass and sub boom bomm boom
if the car got no boom, it is boring to ride.
SGS is my #1 DJ phone, it rulez, yeah baby!
oh! oh! the best thing is, i luv that sweet voice of it, when it tells me the time of the alarm in the car, and if some one calls me, emails me, text me, it reads me all with that sweet lady voice of its
and it will automatically switch between music to hands free phone conversation, and back to audio when the call has ended.
my wife is actually jealous of my SGS as i seem to be spending more time in bed with the phone than with her.

comes with SGS? or you have other application to make that happen?
there are many apps for that, the build in one is vlingo (in samsung apps), and you can install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8461187&postcount=102
and there are even more apps to customize to talk back to the phone to write your SMS, and or dictate an emails for you like vlingo
the only trick is that most of these apps requires some voice training and customization to use them to its max potential.
try it, it's free
wtf really...
benz usually do slack on the entertainment aspect of their cars...
i mean damn that is weird... i have the phone paired with the car, conversations work fine... but as for audio... hmm
ill check out those programs though... maybe i was doing something wrong... :\
and yes loud clear music is great... nothing less than 192 for sure... the 8' stock harman kardon sub is ok... but i wish i had a 10 or 12 in there.
thanks still.
edit: any external bluetooth receivers that might work through a aux cable jack?
ignore the apps mentioned above, those are only for voice commands, and voice features.
back to the Audio Quality part of the conversation, check to see what features does your in car bluetooth supports, and see if it's BT 2.0 or something else
see if it supports the AVRP features, and A2DP
try different music, some music plays and sound better than others
the phone comes with BT 3.0 and it's compatible with older BT 2.0 and 1.0
you should get good audio quality if all things are paired up properly with the better BT compatibility.
check what other audio features does the car support in regards to mp3, enable those as well
stream play high quality mp3 on the phone to the car at least 160 and up
128 some times have hisses
the source of the mp3 must be pure like from CD, DVD or BD
cheaply recorded or ripped audio from radio, or internet streams sounds horrible in the car
I have a Parrot MKi9000 installed in my 2008 Passat (standard Highline Gala sound system & speakers) and the music streams beautifully over Bluetooth from the SGS. It's not an audiophile's dream, but the convenience beats everything. I'm more than satisfied with the quality.
Bluetooth audio works great in my Mondeo, superb call quality. However, it only works for voice, not music. Shame...
Beginning with Froyo, there is a new method startBluetoothSco (), which can be used to send and received audio to/from a bluetooth SCO headset while the phone is not in call. Of course, it's only for mono low quality sounds (16kHz or 8kHz) but it should allow user interaction via the car kit (reading sms, guidance or voice command, for example).
If your bluetooth car kit allows A2DP, the quality can be better, but you should not have problem to output sounds on the car audio
just found the blackberry device i was talking about
here is the link for anyone who is interested in streaming media to the car over bluetooth.

I think you are missing the point, the suggestion is well taken for whom ever though of using a mono headset to fake a stereo BT stream
but you do know we are talking about Streaming BT Stereo to a CAR audio system
streaming MONO will defeat the whole purpose of Streaming STEREO to the car audio system
right?
Hi,
So I have a bluetooth headset and all is well with that. What I was hoping to do is pick up a bluetooth FM transmitter like this one:
http://www.banggood.com/Wireless-Bl..._campaign=newsletter-emarsys&utm_content=vera
So is it possible to have a phone call to my ear and music via the FM transmitter at the same time? Bluetooth phone + 3.5mm music doesn't seem to work, so maybe BT+BT will. I have done all sorts of magyver audio setups in the car over the years and I am at the point where I want only a single device and no wires (other than charger); as of now I have been unable to find a way to be on the phone and have music going at the same time on one device. I have an ipod but it's interface is really janky and dangerous to operate behind the wheel. Plus my phone can download music on the fly.
Anyway, the internet yielded poor results, so here I am asking.
So I found a roadblock
So I tried using the bluetooth from a car that I occasionally drive. I managed to pair everything up and had both my Jawbone headset connected as well as the car. I had the music playing through the car's stereo. All good. I tried making a test call, and the music audio was routed to the earpiece as well as the call. Not sure what's wrong here. I have in the profiles the Jawbone set to call only and the car set to media only. Not sure if it's a glitch or just pilot error.
I don't drive this car often, the one I drive like 50+ hrs a week has no bluetooth, hence why I want to buy the adapter. Not sure if there will be any point if this is going to be the result. This is exactly what happens when I try to use BT + 3.5 mm as an audio solution. Maybe multiple sound destinations is too much to ask?
I think what you will need to do is find a device that does both rather than trying to juggle two devices.
Car bluetooth will play audio then pause for calls, etc, but I do not know how different devices would interact with each other to have them pause while the other is at work...
My experience with FM transmitters has been poor. The sound quality is greatly diminished, and you get interference.
I would just go to crutchfield and get a new stereo for the car you spend most of your time in.

When your paired and connected have you tried going into Bluetooth settings and clicking the device.. I know there's usually and option for audio and one for phone audio.. Turn off phone audio for the car radio so it should only play music.. And turn off audio for the jawbone and just leave phone audio checked..
I haven't messed with it yet.. I did do on my atrix hd on a trip so we had music and nobody had to listen to my phone calls.. Not sure if the option is definitely there since I haven't done it on this phone but I would think it is
Edit: screenshot was taken on my s4 so if you set it up the way I described earlier you should have music from your radio/transmitter and phone calls only to your headset

I have played exactly with these settings and I have the earpiece to phone only and car set to media only but when the call comes in, the car stops playing music and the music goes to the earpiece with the call which is annoying. I would like to be able to be on the phone and have the music keep playing, as if the car was playing from a cd. I am thinking maybe it is not possible to have two outputs active simultaneously.

I drive a taxi so i want to keep my calls off the radio. I mute myself and interact with my customers, play them music, etc. When the customer leaves i turn the music down and return to the call. Again, I think these phones might not be capable of making sound in different ways at the same time. BT + 3.5 jack yields the same issue with the music routing to the headset on a call...

Hmm.. I know I had my other phone do what I described.. It did however stop playing music on the radio while I was on a call.. Then resumed when I hung up.. I'll have to try it tonight when I leave work and see.. But you definitely may be right..

That would be appreciated. Pausing playback would be preferable to having the music drown out the convo in the earpiece. If I were rich I'd keep my old phone for music, but such is life. I use poweramp so maybe that has something to do with it. I also tried an app called soundabout but it doesn't seem to do what I want. I posted on their forum but no response yet.
Hi guys, I recently got a dasaita px5 head unit and would like to make my install a bit cleaner and perhaps the audio during phone calls a bit nicer.
Now, my car is a Hyundai Solaris (Accent, but for the Russian market) and here's the pinout for the connectors
http://www.tehnomagazin.com/images/...o wiring diagram harness pinout connector.gif
Now, the external microphone that comes with the unit uses a two-pole connector like this:

So, should i take mic+ to be the 1 channel and mic- to be the ground bit from a mono connector? Or is my stock microphone a stereo (noise cancelling?) mic?
This would be easier to hook up... Going to order this since it can be recharged via USB.

Would it definitely require an amplifier? How can I check?

How would you use this for the OPs original question, as this is a line in to headphone amp, the levels are much different.
OP - do you have details such as wiring diagrams for the factory mic? My toyota has an internal mic which requires 5v to power its preamp.

Yes, connect the shield/braid to mic (-) and centre to mic (+).

Weird, my original post did not show... let me start over.
So I wanted to do the same in my car (2015 Audi A3), use the stock microphone but still have it available for the built in OEM phone and voice activation features.. Basically you will have to solder or tap into the lead wires from the OEM microphone, and then use a new 3.5mm or 2.5mm mono/stereo male jack lead that goes into your android unit. So the original wires goes to the OEM system, and the new wires goes into the Android - like a Y split.
Because the microphone is not powered or an Electrec mic, you will have horrible pick up when your car is actually moving - defeating any of the google voice features while driving. You will need an amplifier to increase the sound going into the Android Unit. Your stock unit most likely already has this built in. HTH
I don't have wiring details for the microphone unfortunately. I'll just try wiring it up with no preamp and see what happens. Honestly the built-in mic is good enough for me right now but it just seemed a waste to not use one already in the headliner
I did try this on my Saab 93. I wired the stock microphone to my Newsmy Carpad3. Mic did not function. Disassembled the stock microphone and found it was active. Took out the active part and connected just the stock microphone element. Now it worked but I had to yell to get sound recorder to just pick up my voice. So I disassembled the radio mic and put the mic element into the stock housing; this allowed me to still use the stock location for a stealth install. Used a Saab connector to connect it as I had bought that to try the stock microphone connected to the radio.
Okay, so I finally got around to doing it with my dasaita px5 unit. It works flawlessly, no amplifier, nothing. People seem to hear me clearly on the other side.

Marchnz, do you have any guidance for connecting the Toyota OEM microphone to a MTCE head unit? Would it likely make a difference in sound quality during calls? Thank you.

I am interjecting here having personal experience with the Toyota OEM mic on an MTCE. It works however I have variable attenuation between the mic and the HU. Sound quality is not so good on a noisy highway. I often switch to a headset during phone calls. Nonetheless it is quite useful.

Can I just tap into mic+ and mic- and connect to a 3.5mm male connector, then to the external 3.5 mm female port? Do I need to do anything with the pre-amp wire?
Are your problems even with the factory mic the result of the BT chip?
I did not do careful tests of the call quality with the OE Nav unit, so my basis for quality comparison with the head unit is highly subjective, but my current call quality with the external mic is borderline unusable. I have a BT headset while I work out the problems. This is my first head unit install.

I find the oem mic pretty much usable. Speech recognition seems a little more forgiving than the BT chip. On the noisiest roads people have a hard time hearing me. Most of the time I can communicate OK with it.
It is necessary to supply voltage on the red wire to the mic. +5 or +3 volts. And in my opinion the signal needs to be attenuated to reduce overload distortion. This may vary depending on the specific HU. You can probably find a 10db attenuation plug, that should be about right. I use the "mic tester" app to display a waveform and see how well it's working.
I know the OE Nav unit had settings to tweak the mic. I don't know for sure if that occurred in the hu or the mic.

Can I not let the vehicle continue to supply power to the mic and simply tap the signal wires to the head unit's external or internal mic connectors?

Without the oem nav unit, power is not supplied to the mic. Amazon has a nice 12v/5v converter:

Hi,
How did you manage to do this? I'd like to do the same with my 2011 Audi A3 and PX30 Android Head Unit.
Thanks.

Have you found any more information about getting the microphone on px5's to work better?
me too I'm interested for my ford focus st. I've made a cable with the 2 pins (+ & -) and the 3,5 jack but it's a stereo one. then I've connected like this:

How Can I Upgrade My Stock Scion 4 Wire Mic + Preamp circuit?
Hello, I have a stock 4 wire mic and preamp board that my 2013 scion uses. The sound is pretty crappy and I want to upgrade to an aftermarket one but I am having trouble.
I'm trying to figure out which wires are what on the mic, there are 4 going into the mini circuit board and 2 from the circuit board to the actual mic.
I have continuity from one pin of circuit board to one pin of the mic, maybe this is the ground?
Do you think I could use a normal mic if I found the correct 2 wires and just left the preamp out? Or maybe I need some type of preamp device like this:

thanks so much for any help!

i have a 2012 Toyota Camry and wish to keep my oem mic too but cant make sense of how to do it.
I don't really want to cut any wires
anyone able to explain in detail how to go about it?
