Any one out there know how to configure MMS for O2 on WM6?
I asked O2 for help and they said my phone was not compatible. I find that hard to believe as it's just a variant on XDA. I have seen several settings muted on various sites but it’s hard to piece it all together on WM6. Any help from some one who’s got it working would be well received
Neil
click on start > messages click on options, a new screen opens click on mms then click the server tab at the bottom. Click new and add the mms settings below, not sure if these are the same for all countries, but these are the uk settings. Once you have created the server press and hold the stylus on it ,in the server list window and click set as default and then delete the old one if there is one there.
Access point name: wap.o2.co.uk (contract customers) or payandgo.o2.co.uk (pay-as-you-go customers)
Username: o2wap (contract customers) or payandgo (pay-as-you-go customers)
Password: password
Authentication: Normal
Data bearer: GPRS
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 193.113.200.195
Session mode: Permanent
URL address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Thanks
Thanks,
I think those are the settings that I have. There is a slight complexity in that I can't enter all this under MMS settings. For some reason on my HTC there is an extra level of indirection.
So under MMS settings-> servers
I can enter
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 193.113.200.195
URL address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
I am also invited to enter a port number (for the gateway I think) that defaults to 8080
A Wap Version that defaults to wap 2.0
and "connect Via" which is a drop down.
In this drop down I choose "O2 active".
when I go hunting I can find ... hold your breath.....
start->settings->connections->connections->advanced->select networks
Then in the "programs that automatically connect to the network" drop down I find "o2 active"... and eventually under here I find the settings
Access point name: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Data bearer: GPRS
So it sort of hangs together
But alas when I send an MMS it connects to o2 active.... tries 3 times to send then gives up
If you have any ideas i would love to hear them
Neil
Got it sorted
On my second attempt at calling O2 they realised that they had not provisioned my account for MMS. If you have similiar problems make sure you are very insistent with O2. If they get hung up about sending you the settings over the air make it clear that you are happy to set it up manualy.
The setting in the previuos reply work well
These settings also work fine on my TyTN II: If anyone else has problems, remember to always select 'use server-assigned IP address' in the advanced settings, and to set your GPRS to PAP authentication! CHAP doesnt work!

ok ive just installed the new imate rom and finaly decided it was time to get my gprs settings set up but im haveing a bit of a problem.
this is what im doing, i am trying to use the o2 payg gprs data settings
im making a new connection
"enter a name for the connection"
o2 gprs
"select a modem"
cellular libe (gprs,3g)
clicked next
"access point name" 02 gprs
clicked next
"uaer name" payandgo
"password" password
now for domain ive been told on 3 calls to use payandgo.02.co.uk
this is where my problem is because the box only allowes me to type payandgo.02.co.
as for the advanced tab i was told to leave them as use server assigned ip address on both tabs
i havent gotten any further than this and if i leave it as payandgo.02.co. i cant get it to connect to the gprs network at all
o2 said they cant help me as its not there software all they will do is give me the settings .... bahhhh stupid customer support lol
well any help is apreciated guys ........ thyis board has been a life saver since i got the phone
your access point name doesn't look right. Most probably that's where payandgo.02.co.uk needs to go.
well according to
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
its this
Code:
O2 GPRS settings (Email/Web):
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
HTTP Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port number: 8080
Email servers (POP): mail.o2.co.uk
Email servers (SMTP): smtp.o2.co.uk
DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200 and 193.113.200.201
and that looks decidedly different to what you have been told. According to the site there is no difference between PAYG and Contact like there is on Vodafone
Ive used the settings from this page to setup my gprs so i dont doubt the info is correct, but cannot confirm the o2 settings, im on Voda
try them, worth a shot
ive tryed with those settings and it just says that it cant connect. is any body else useing o2 payg uk gprs on there phone wo could tell me what they have
chears guys
Try this :-
O2 GPRS settings (WAP):
Note: Different settings for contract and PAYG (Pay as you go)
Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk/
APN address (contract): wap.o2.co.uk
APN address (PAYG): payandgo.o2.co.uk
Gateway (IP) address : 193.113.200.195
Username : o2wap (contract) / payandgo (PAYG)
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
Port number: 9201
Its from : http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
You will also find MMS settings etc there as well.
Also do a search in this forum, somewhere there is a cab file to download that will set it all up for you correctly.
why did you install the imate rom BTW?
i updated to the imate rom as i had problems with the o2 rom,
still havent got it to work yet. i mite take it in to an o2 store and see if they can set it up for me ... the people on the o2 help desk are idiots lol
I have set my exec phone up to non o2 settings (by taking the battery out before it started to load the o2 settings after a hard reset)I have everything working mobile internet etc apart from mms, I have set up the mms settings as per the o2 website but when I take a picture and try to send it mms the phone freezes and I have to do a soft reset, I am not that bothered about mms but I was wondering does it not work because the o2 settings are not on the phone ??
any way around this , I do send the odd one if it cant be got to work id rather have a fast phone than a sluggish one....

I'm using payandgo on O2 as well so let me help you:
1. Setting up internet conection.
Go to Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks than choose programs that automatically connect to internet "New" enter name lets say "O2" might be anything you want, go to modem tab click "new" choose name for connection "O2 internet" or whatever select modem "Cellular line (GPRS, 3G)" click next access poin name: payandgo.o2.co.uk click next user name: payandgo password: password and click "finish" Now go to "Proxy Settings" tab. Tick "This network connect to the Internet" tick "this network uses a proxy..." Proxy server: 193.113.200.195 than click "Advanced" click on HTTP type and change port to 8080 than click few times "ok". You have your internet connection, you can check it if everything works by going to any page using MS Explorer. Everything should work ok.
2. Setting up MMS account
Go to MMS/Menu/Tools/Options tap on "*MMS" go to "Servers" tab tap "New" Server name: anything might be "O2 MMS", gateway: 192.113.200.195, port number: 8080, server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 , Connect via: O2 or how you named your internet connection than "ok" and "set as default" your new "O2 MMS" setup.
Everything should work now at least it works for me remember to enable your mms at O2 by text "PICON" to 21400, unless ofcourse you allready have it enabled.
Ahh it was the MMS bit that had me!!
Awesome its working now thanks for that!
Yeah had MMS activated, had the number since like 2000 and been through a few phones since then!
No problem, I'm glead I could help.
The Solution!!!
Hi,
I've been trying to sort this out with O2 for a while and simply got the response - we are sorry XDAs and smartphones only support O2 GPRS on contact! :s but I managed to get it sorted this morning by means of a little cab file . Just install it to the device and everything should work fine , if it doesn't then restart the mobile and thats it! Let me know how it gets along, it worked fine on my Tornado (WM6.1).
Thanks!

So here they are (mainly so i can find them again)

o2 ireland
i need thse settings for o2 ireland. does anyone have them?
Hi, just unlocked my HD and seems to be working with my O2 SIM, but all the settings for going online and sending MMS are not working, I get the message that it couldn't dial or get through with O2. The phone did an automatic set up for the O2 network, but it didn't set those to work properly.
I remember I had to enter manually all the server addresses and ports from O2 with another set I had a year ago.
Does anyone has a guide and settings that I have to enter to make it work?
Hey, I'm on O2 and my connection setup works fine, have you tried updating the connection setup database first?
The settings are as follows if you want to add them manually.....
3G (mobile web)
access point: mobile.o2.co.uk
user name: O2web
password: password
use server assigned IP/DNS
MMS (o2 active MMS)
server name: o2 active MMS
gateway: 193.113.200.195
port: 8080
server address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
connect via: o2 active/mobileweb (your choice)
send limit: 300k
wap version: wap 2.0
Hope these help, let me know if anything isnt clear!
Thanks, I had to do it manually that way yesterday, found it online. When I tried making the devices to update database automatically it wouldn't get the settings properly. I tried those settings you posted and also similar ones using a different port. 9201.
But it shows I am on Edge and G2 when I go online, and when it is on standby phone mode it shows full 3G.
