This helps to install software in the pda without connecting it to a PC
after a hard reset (from storage card).
To do this:-
Run the desired software on the pc without connecting your pda to it through active syn . This will extract the cab files in the folder {{ C:\Program Files\Microsoft Active syn\ }} on your PC from where you can copy these files on your PDA's storage card.
Don't forget to mark the cab's read-only after copying or they will be gone after the first install.

I would be careful which files to erase from the \Windows folder. Some files that are embedded in ROM cannot be deleted no matter how hard you try and can't be unlocked either.
You can use a tool like Valksoft Space Reclaimer to clean up any files leftover from previous uninstallation of software.
You can move the help files of the software installed from the \windows folder as well as the .uninstall files to your SD-card. With the latter, you need to move the appropriate one back to the \windows folder should you need to uninstall that program. That should clear up some space for you.

Can I unlock files from Windows directory , for example: camera.exe and delete them. When I try to delete this file I receive an error. There are any programs for unlocking or I must edit ROM? And last question, if i delete this file, it will be more memory available?
I have HTC Charmer with WM5.
files located in the rom cant be deleted and if they could it would not add memory for applications or storage

I'm wondering if exists a method to extract the FileSystem image from the internal memory of a PDA/Smartphone.
I need it because I'm developing a forensic tool to extract all user's files and to try to recover deleted files as well.
All tools I tried till now (grab_it, dumprom, etc), seems to extract only operating system files (.dll, XIP and so on...).
Any help?

Usefull to get files from DFT installs
Usefull for extracting thoses backup .img files in your clockworkmod folder on sdcard
1.Unzip unyaffs.zip file to drive of your choice.
2. Copy system.img to same folder.
3. Double click Command Prompt.bat
4. type 1 press enter ( automaticly ) extracts any system.img
5. pressing 2 enter is for data.img ( copy data.imp file to folder and press d )
For ICS and other newer system.img's you may need to convert the image then unpack the converted img
