Hello,
I hate reading. What I would love is having VC reading some texts for me.
I don't know if anybody already had this idea, but I think this should not be too difficult to realize. Theoretically it already works, you just got to send all your texts via email to yourself. As this is very umfortable, I'd like to have a small tool which can open text files such as txt oder doc and then makes VC to read them.
VC can read any texts in the language in which it is installed (the messages and emails), so there must be a possibility to realize this dream.
Any ideas?
Would be great,
thanks,
MPW
If you go into the settings of Voice Commander you can change whether it reads High priority messages only-turn this off and it will read any new texts out. Works for me anyway
how do you make it read without saying "S M S"?
Flarestarwingz,
What build of VC are you using? I have tried several, including the cabs to fix various problems, and never managed to get it to read out text messages or appointments, no matter what settings I use.
Would be helpful if you could post up your settings as well, if that's not too much trouble.
Thanks
WB
Ah, it was on a Rom I had a few days ago, but i just re-cooked a Rom without it. Ill see if ive got the cab file and check it does work.
________________________EDIT:__________________
Ok it definitely works as i said I set the options to play messages on bluetooth when available (middle choice) and on Email options I set it to announce new email, unchecked high priority, and unchecked only in free time and it worked for me
I used a cab file i have for Voice Commander v1.60.4622.0
Flare,
Thanks for the info. I will seek out this build of VC and see how I get on. I must admit I am not hopeful; I have lost track of how many versions of VC (and cabs to fix problems) I have tried.
Thanks again for the info.
WB
Sorry, but you missunderstood my question.
Of course, I know how to make VC to read my appointments and it works perfectly for me.
But I want VC to read any texts (for example books!) for me.
I think that should be possible, because VC can read any email. So it should be possible to find out how to make it read any texts by just enterning the filename or writing a small tool...
Thanks,
MPW
You are talking about MS Voice Command - not Cyberon Voice Commander, right?
Yeah, we're talking about MS Voice Command. I'm aware of the fact that this software doesn't support this function. But I think it should be easy to realise it, because Voice Command can read any email text, so why shouldn't it be able to read any rext/book/what else?

I could not find a topic of this? if u do please place below.
My question is
Is there any software for the wizard, who counts the total sms that were sended.
I found one called calltime app, but it's in german.
i'd rather prefer english
someone?

Asked something very similar and didnt really get that far. Thought it would have been a very popular type of program to have. I even thought you would maybe be able to have a counter on your today screen of how many minitues and texts you had left for that month.
Would have been cool.
That's probably dktoday. It counts your sms's send, used minutes today & this (user adjustable month). Shows current act.operator & turns off screen when pressed, switches on BT on incoming call. Switches BT when BT icon is pressed. & it shows missed calls today.
Sounds good, so if anyone does come accross an english version Id like to know about it

Thats a bit harsh from the posts above it implied only a foriegn one was available.
& that's the prob. with writing in a foreign language. I couldn't find a emoticon expressing my tone. So no hard feelings pls.
Only the first post mentioned german, the rest English I guess. Hope you like dktoday I certainly do.
lol...no probs. Just put it on looks like just what i need and seems to work a treat!
EDIT : SMS counter doesnt seem to be working though.
I don't send a lot of sms's, but belief mine are counted on receiving the delivery notification & that's no good indeed. Maybe you can contact the developer about it.
I heard that the newest version of phonealarm is counting SMS. But there is one problem - it just counts the number of messages, not the number of SMS sent - in case you send messages longer 160 chars (which will be sent in multiple SMS) the counter won't be reliable... :?
does anyone know of a good missed call/sms/email program for the mda
theres a really good program that replies to missed calls with a text message, the contents of which you get to chose and it can append the next free slot from your calendar too, so people can see when you'll be free to call them back.
I'm trying to install it myself, but unfortunately I can't remember the name and the search function isn't turning up much!
Anyone any ideas??
Cheers.
I think its called SMS Notifier
Look no father than PhoneAlarm or PhoneAlarm Lite. This is really good stuff and totally skinnable--fun to make your own custom buttons.

Yes, it is called SMS Nitifier. Ironically my 7th search, which led me to this thread also got me the thread for SMS notifier, but further down the list. All installed now and working pretty well, only problems with it are that it sends every message twice (not really an issue on my flext tariff, just a bit annoying) and it DKNotify doesn't record the messages it sends in its message log, but you can't have everything can u!
Actually, after reading the whole fo that thread I realised I didn't have the latest version installed, all seems to work now.
Hi I was wondering if there was a piece of software that will read out my emails when driving and indeed let me reply via my voice.
I have seen a couple of suggestions that this is possible and as I spend most of my time on the road it would help greatly.
Is there such a piece of software.
Thanks in advance
I had been looking for exactly the same thing. Finally I installed it last week and tried it. I find it useful.
Fonix speech is probably the best I have come across. And does the job quite well.
Features:
1. Can assign a hardware button to start it.
2. Then it can read your outlook emails. You can also use voice instructiomns to start an applicvation (e.g. gps), dial a phone number, have the calendar appointements read to you, have the tasks read to you.
3. You can read emails, delete them or skip them (after it has read the header). The emails read to you are quite accurate (some pronounciations may be funny
4. You can reply to an emai, but it records your response in an attachment (.wav file) which iy them sends it by email. Not the best way to respond to your work emails (atleast not yet). So to restate, the replies are not converted to text.
Let me know if you need any help.

sounds good but when is it out.
been using various sms program. none have been able to annouce the incomming sms messages. I really do like to hear my text message being read. Is there any program that has sms feature but annouce it too?
i've used palm's sms and vito. the various sms software that i found else where that is not well discussed as the two mentioned.
if i can hack the registry to also store my texts in its default location while having palm's sms receive the text...i really like palm's sms, but it takes out my text inbox...i think voice command only reads text inbox.
other suggest downloading wm6.1, doesn't work with sms.
tested with samsung i760.
try the new ZoomSMS.. has a registry option to notify..

Yes, my wife uses the MS Voice command to read her SMS's out loud. As a joke, I send her crap when I know she is with other people. She doesn't see the humor in it like I do.
Hehe i did this when a friend of mine had software for outlout reading of s60 device content installed on his n70 while in pub it had czech support, but i never heard funnier voice read out crap and czech curse words
Lol, we live in units, and the outside plumbing for the sewerage system broke.
I was in a meeting when I got, at max volume"
"Giant crap just outside window, think I'm gonna puke, leaving"
Lol, I have never been so proud of my GF
i know that voice command 1.6 can annouce incoming text messages. some refers to have them be called sms. regardless of the case, it annouces incoming text (sms). when i installed palm's threaded sms, my incoming text is not pronoucing it. can you help to explain why?

Yes I can. It is because you have not searched the site for the already started topic to where a solution maybe found. So please search "voice command text message" or "voice command sms" or any other combination you may think of and see the hits it brings up.
i don't think installing sms can
george, i read thru a lot of palms' threaded sms with no luck. before i installed the palms', my incoming text annouces. after palms', i don't hear it anymore. I read thru a lot of palms' topic on this site and ppcgeeks. none has an answer for it.

I don't disagree with you that there may or may not be an answer. I am asking you kindly to post in the threads all ready started on this subject to keep continuity. That way when someone else comes along we can direct them and it be affective.
thanks.
chillax, dude.
The problems arent related.
The OP is asking a good question. Basically, VC is written by Microsoft and so is designed to operate with system commands as MS designed them.
When you are using the Palm messaging app, you're actually circumventing the MS messaging app that would normally handle the new SMS, and using the plam app instead as a replacement.
VC does not recognize the palm app and therefore doesn't know to announce anything.
The same is true of Media Players and other system alternatives- if you use mortplayer or htc music manager for your tunes, VC will still only know how to control Windows Media Player.
The threads George is referring to are talking about a different problem.
Hope that clears things up.
