Hi all
I have bought a second hand O2 XDA mini s G3 & so far everything has been great, but there has been one thing nagging at me. When I go into "settings/phone" to change the ring tone the top line on the sceen says "Phone - 07924******".
The reason it nags me is that it is not my number , does anyone know how to change this.
I have put my info in the Owner Info but it made no difference.
TIA
Jon
now really confused
I flashed the rom to wm6 & it has displayed a slightly different number to the one above, are the numbers installed by the rom?
put my daughters virgin sim in & it displays no number, so has my O2 sim have the wrong number encoded into it?
any ideas anyone?

Hi every one ...1st time poster and short time reader
I have a Cingular 2125 and I love it ...but with the corporate discount I get I get 2 phone upgrades a year so as my 1st year was ending I decided to get the 8125.
So the question is
in the 2125 I was able to set the setting so that only people on my contact list could see my phone number .... I dont this option in the 8125, is it possible to download something that will add this feature ?
That sounds interesting.. Dont know if that exists.
I just block my caller id for everyone
it was like that on the mpx220 but not on the audiovox5600. which is werid cuz the 5600 is the old ver of the 2125, i got a mda and this option isnt avaiable. i wish i could also only allow calls that are in my contacts list like on my moto v360 ...miss this feature MUCH!
but to anwser ur question no there is no way to do it unless u edit ur contacts and put *67 to block or *82 to unblock
yeah my phone history is
Smt 5600
2125
8125
the 5600 and the 2125 have that feature ...but its does not in the 8125 which really sucks ...
Sorry if this may be inaproriate to ask
but I have seen post about people making custom/moded roms for the 8125 where you flash it and stuff ...was wondering if making one would allow this option ?
Any way to have this fetaure put in a future offical update ?
okay I am going to venture out in my quest ot get this feature and useing a registry tweak ap called total commander I am going to try to look at all the registry entries that deal with this ... I still got my 2125 so I got something to compare to ...so lets hope for the best ...if all else I think I may pay some one to wrote a script or find the setting for me

Even if there is a Registry setting the Dialer Application is the workhorse for this so just adding the setting does nothing unless you also replace the dialer app on your wizard with one (say from the 2125) that pays attention to that setting.
kyphur u bring up an intresting point ...and I am guessing that the 2125 dial application is not compatible with the 8125...humm maybe back to sqaure 1 ...i wonder if the next version of the wizard will have this featuer.

I doubt it would work simply because of the differences in the devices. I don't think the 2125 has a touch screen and the 8125 lacks a numeric keypad.
once again ur right ...humm I wonder if any of the other touch screens has this ... I might just sell my 8125 and get an unlocked SDA from tmobile since I was at the tmobile store today and found the setting on that ( but not hte MDA) its defenitly something HTC puts in the phone ...I wonder why they take out such great features in some phones and put them in other phones ...HTC if you read this post ...PUT this feature back in ! tehehe
caller id to contacts only
yea i have the feature on my htc p3450 (touch) but it doens't work. i was going to post something about this, but i caught this thread. i have the same experiance though my audiovox 5600 caller id to contacts only works, my torq n100 didn't and neither does my htc touch. so if anyone could add some input it would be appreciated.
just a couple of notes
audiovox 5600 originally an att phone unlocked and used with cingular and tmobile the caller id works fine.
torq n100 unlock device bought online, but the caller id feature does not
htc touch unlock device bought online, but the caller id feature does not
thanks
I've been playing this weekend, first downgrading the ROM with 1.04 bootloader, so I could upgrade to the latest HTC x.35 ROM. Having done that and upgraded the radio to the latest version as well, I find I still have one issue.
I've combed through all the registry hacks and have flipped the right bits and entered the appropriate keys/strings and yet I can't get this phone to display anything but "ROGERS" (302720) on the today screen. I was successful changing the operator name on my HTC Herald before sending it off to a friend, but this unit will not cooperate.
Anyone have some hints on where else (obscure if necessary) I can look to make this thing display what I want?
I've never been able to do this either on the Hermes
I kinda think I'm missing the point here...but I got rid of most of my Cingular logos simply by simply downloading all the stuff in my 8525's \windows directory to my pc, and finding all the gif's, png's and jpg files that were Cingular logos. Then I loaded those graphics into photoshop and made transparent images of the same size and properties, saved them back using the original names, and reloaded them to the original locations on the 8525. Restart, and voila, no more Cingular branding.
Maybe this will work in your case?

No actually, this has nothing to do with the files on the phone, except that the tweak to change the Operator Name given the right registry value (302720) should work, but doesn't.
OK ... never mind. But I'm confused by what you're asking. You actually have Rogers branding on your Today Screen? Where does it appear?
Maybe this is something Cingular didn't implement? (Thankfully?)
Sorry I couldn't help. (wish there was an icon for "embarrassed"),
No, not branding, it's just displaying "Rogers" on the homescreen when I'd prefer to dictate what it displays.
Cruisin1966 - Rogers name is part of SimCard, you wan't change it.
Same was here - non VoiceStream (or current T-Mobile US) cards said VoiceStream (T-Mobile US), VoiceStream (T-Mobile US) cards said VStream (T-Mobile).
It is part of SIMcard and if your's OTA operator can change name as they want.
Hope this help
No disrespect intended, but please re-read my original post. I successfully changed the name displayed on the homescreen with the HTC Herald, and my question was why can't I changed the name displayed on this 8525.
Cruisin1966 - Question: Does Rogers has 3G network so your phone could log in there?

3G isn't available anywhere but around Toronto, as far as I know. Definitely not in/near Calgary, that much I do know.
Cruisin1966 - hmmm I thought that it might be OpName over UMTS but now it might be just imposible to change SIM directive in this model. I have the same problem with Cingular or T-Mobile.
Lets wait for official aku 3.3 and then we can go back to this discussion.
Hi everyone, I've searched high and low for this answer and i haven't found it yet... is there anyway to increase the size of the caller id picture w/ dcd's most recent rom. somehow the contact pictures are smaller on the caller id w/ dcd's rom vs. the original sprint one....
Thanks in advance!
come on guys... i know someone has to know.....
Check out Photo Contacts http://www.pocketx.net/smartphone/photocontacts.html
actually all i am looking for is to get the caller id back to normal size like the original sprint rom... dcd's rom shrinks the caller id size... so does anyone have a hack to get it back to normal?
Actually I believe DCD's is using the "standard" caller ID tool. Sprint probably has a modified one for their rom.
My original rom from USCC looks just like DCD's.
BTC
well for some reason when i'm on dcd's rom the caller id picture is smaller than the official sprint rom... anyone have any clues as to why or how i can get it back to normal... reg hack?
Do you mean that the caller id when you dial or receive calls is on the left with the number and really small, instead of on the right in the square box where it is supposed to be. Thats what happens to me. Its happened b4 with dcd roms. If xda wasnt so slow right now I'd search some of the dcd rom release threads. I do know that I had the Qwest official update rom with the same dialer in a cab version and it displayed correctly.
What I found odd is when you get an MMS message the contact's picture is next to it on the screen display with the "new mms from...." alert, but not for SMS alerts.
check out s2u has a great caller id pic shows on whole screen
Hello all. I could really use some help. I am trying to change the displayed phone number under the phone settings. I am referring to the number in light grey displayed at start/settings/phone. I am using CE for my registry editor but can't seem to find the file location to edit that number. I know it has no affect on the phone operation but it is just annoying the hell out of me. I also know the number is loaded to the phone when it is activated by the first owner. T-mobile support said it can't be changed on their end. Any help would be appreciated guys. By the way, I love the board. It has come in great hand.
i live in hongkong and i've set my region to USA on the phone. everything work good except the phone number format as it displays like (123)456-78. but i actually expect it to display like 12345678; with no bracket & minus sign. problem is if i set my region to hongkong, some apps like opera will then display in chinese menu! pls help, what i want is to have everything display in english yet phone number will display as 12345678 (with no bracket & minus), is there any registry hack or sort out there?
If you want that kind of phone number format then set it to UK.
