Did you soft reset after you did the reg edit. Sometimes on some devices, after you do the reg edit, you have to wait a a few seconds up to a minute, then power off, restart and then reboot.
Also, in my case, I used the resco reg editor, but it didn't stick, but then I use the total commander it stuck. I know (it's weird, but it works).
Hope this helps

yes I did soft reset. I am going to try total commander, lets see if it works. Thanks.

Registry Keys for Soft Key Mappings?

I'm sure i saw a thread with this on, i cant find it for the life of me though..
Can anyone assist ?

Thanks guys
EDIT - however, when i make the change using PHM Regedit.. it changes the label of the soft key but not the functionality.
...and after a soft reboot it changes the label back too :S
Any ideas?
just tried it, it's great!
don't do a soft reset, switch the phone off with the power button.
some reg changes only work on a re-start.
also changed right key as well
thanks for sharing

Thats correct, but you can't point that to specific exe's though. There's only a list of apps to choose from.

Cleartype in landscape mode reg hack problem

I did the usual reg hack hklm/system/gdi/cleartypesettings/0 switched off phone to reset & it works for a few times but then it reverts back to normal on its own accord. Checked the reg setting & it shows 1 again. Any ideas, because its driving me mad having to change it again & again.
I use Orange SPV M3100 & PHM Regedit

same with me - when i change OffOnRotation setting to 0, reset device, then it works. but after another reset it reverts again.
Try Twkcl.exe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15688
Maybe the solution, it works for my Tytn:
Make the registery change as described for the wizard.
Go to landscape (keyboard slided out) en go to start, settings, system, Screen, General (must be landscape), ClearType, enable ClearType.
Then: make a softreset not using youre stylus but trough the On/Of button, or Softreset trough other possibilties.
After a couple of resets it still works till now! Just testing right now the stylus reset: result: [email protected], so that is really the problem. Using the stylus hole softreset (what's the name for it? Resetbutton for stylus?).
So again procedure as descriped above en never use the resetbutton for stylus anymore until somebody discoverd a solution for it!
Has someone did the trick allready?
I'm going to try such trick, thanks..
I think that's an HTC issue, because it happens also on Qtek 9090...
On Motorola MPx I changed reg value one time and it always worked across lots of soft resets.

i never use 'resetbutton', but always resetting device with on/off button. even with that, cleartype in landscape mode seems to be lost after couple of resets (or maybe, offs/ons).
Can anyone confirm whether or not Twkcl.exe works?

At least you did get it to work. I have no luck with this method at all.
As I mentioned before, Twkcl.exe works well for me. Maybe you wanna try that and forget about tweaking the registry.
I think I know ur problem, try closing the reg editor from memory running programs screen before you reset. That worked for me, but am going to try twkcl now to get it to stay.
that's odd... I followed the instructions for TwkCL but it makes no difference, the reg setting goes back to normal after the 2nd reset.
I physically copied TwkCL.exe to the extended_rom, then edited the config file, that's all I need to do right?
Nothing happened so I edited the registry as normal and it just went back as usual.
Hope someone can help,
Cheers.

No need such complication....simply copy Twkcl.exe into the \Windows\Startup folder will do.
I believe the instruction is for effecting automated configuration during hard-reset so that Twkcl.exe will be copied to your STARTUP folder after each hard-reset.
Marvellous.
Thanks!

Reg Edit to change default input method??

I am looking for a regedit to change the default input method. I am particularly fond of PCMKeyboard and use it religiously but every time I soft reset it always defaults back to the 20 button Touch Keyboard.
Thanks in advance, Dan.

Took me a while to figure this out, but you have to first completely disable the Touch keyboard. If you use the standard default sip settings Touch keyboard will always override it on a soft reset.
Reversible method:
Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{198D503A-EFFE-4afd-BC54-EED333C80E6D}\InprocServer32] change the default value from \windows\ezinput.dll to something else like \windows\del_ezinput.dll
Also change the default value at [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{198D503A-EFFE-4afd-BC54-EED333C80E6D}\IsSIPInputMethod] to 0
Do the same thing at [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{62B00599-25D2-4e09-8C48-03BF26DB8517}]
(Note: You can also completely delete these two keys rather than renaming the values.)
Then you can use the standard method of setting the default sip. Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip] change the defaultim key to the right value for PCMkeyboard (never used it so i'm not sure). Just search HKCR\CLSID for the keyboard you want and copy down it's CLSID with the brackets then put that in for the defaultim.
Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I'll explain it more thoroughly.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch man. Worked like a charm.
Or others that need to change the default SIP may use the attached .cab. Have fun ...
thank you so much, this was getting to be so annoying
I have tried sipchange however the standerd is still wrong after a soft reset. Sipchange hasn't really done anything or do I need to follow a certain order?
look for a program called IMSelector. It works on my Touch where SIPChange did not

I did that and and it killed my Touch. I had to reset then restore backup. Basically after I made the changes and rebooted it kept coming to black screen with no functionality. Has anyone had that problem? (Before that I had the SIP change installed. Could have been the problem?)
Thanks,

Has anyone been able to make the registry method work on the Touch?
I've tried it twice ad both times I get a dead reboot. So I had to hard reset and restore from backup.

I use this method on my touch immediately after a hard reset and it always works. I think the instructions are pretty clear.
Are you deleting the key or just renaming it.
Also could you try backing up your phone then hard resetting and following the directions before you reinstall/restore anything. You can use Mobile Registry Editor to make the changes through Activesync.

I renamed the first two and deleted the second two. Maybe b/c I didn't do it once after hard reset.
works fine for me... i prefer the standard keyboard as well.. anyone know if it's possible to enlarge the keys a little more by a registry setting? i'd like to keep the "Large" keys but also retain the number keys on top as well. if i switch to large keys the number pad disappears, possible to have numbers+larger buttons?
if this is in the registry, anyone know where i should look or is the standard keyboard size fixed?
IMSelector did not work for my vogue but SipChange did. No need to fool around with the registry which I'm scared to try.
Did you try to use SKTools? I use this app. and its woking on my HTC Diamond.
To cwzkevin,
I have also experienced deadlocks at the next boot. They seem to be related to using an wrong CLSID for the desired new input method. At least for each language this is different.
My changes, according to the original post from EliteXen, did work on a german Swisscom branded HTC Touch Pro, but provoked the black screen on reboot on a english Swisscom branded HTC Touch Diamond.
I did delete both keys, not changing them.
So, look up the CLSID first, before using it.

Disable New SMS Auto Wake Up and Turn On Screen?

Hi,
I've owned the Xperia for a week and it's a great WinMo device. However unlike Touch Pro or Diamond, there's no registry tweak available to turn off the auto wake up on new sms feature.
I found it really annoying. Everytime a new SMS arrived when the phone was in my pocket the screen automatically turned on, and as I was walking my jeans' pocket continuously "touched" on the phone screen and accidentally opened bunches of programs and scroll up and down until it hanged.
It will be perfect to just make sound + vibrate, but keep the screen off, as I could do on Touch Pro.
Anyone knows of such a solution please do help!
I need to bump on that...
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
aint advanced config 3.3 working for that?
I was having this problem too... the only thing I changed to attempt to fix this was instead of pressing the power button to sleep the phone before I put it into my pocket, I press and hold the end key so that it locks the phone and dims the screen. The screen eventually turns off and it requires you to unlock the phone when you power it back on. When you receive an SMS or Email, the screen still lights up, but you have to press unlock, then tap unlock to start using it.
Yes, I have the same problem too and hope we can have the option to turn it off so that the screen will not lighted up when there is new sms or call.
Can someone work on this?
The registry key used for the tweak that works on Touch Pro does not exist, which is HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL

That option is for Touch Diamond and Touch Pro only, and it does not show on Xperia when you use Advanced Config. It's obviously related to the registry key mentioned above.
I have found the solution, just need to use any registry editor like the Resco Registry Explorer or the SKTools to edit the registry.
Dont want the device to wake up on new SMS ?
It still notifies you with sound/vibrate/LEDs, but the screen will not turn ON
Just add in the below line into the registry location :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
Has anyone tried this out to see if it works...???

I have tried it myself and it works, I don't have to worry that I might press anything on the screen when there is incoming SMS.
Thanks for getting back to me...
I was having this problem... when in my pcoket and getting tx message and the opt pad going all over the screen... kinda funny...
Im assuming when updating this key will be deleted and have to be put in again???
Thanks

Not sure about yours but I do not have this key so I have to create a new one and it is working.
I need to create it...
Does it need to be where the
HKCR
HKCU
HKLM
are???
Cheers
Sorted now and working well...
Thanks again
Put it in HKLM.
However Resco registry give me an error and doesn't create this dword. Very very strange...

Using your Registry Explorer an go to the below location :
Location in Registry : HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
Select "New" D_Word and you will be asked to enter the details :
Top portion just enter : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
and bottom portion just enter the value : 1
Save it and you should find the details there :
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
For easier way, you can download the latest Xperia Tweak and it include the option to turn off the screen for any incoming sms.

I can confirm this solution works perfectly! I thought if the value does not exist means the device does not support it. Thanks chongbh!

How to lock also the Hardwarebuttons with the Default Sliderlock

Hello,
How to lock also the Hardwarebuttons with the Default Sliderlock.
I don't want to use a other Sreenlock Program.
I just like to lock the Buttons also when the Screen is loecked.
any Solutions?
Thanks
Are the buttons active at all? During screen lock, I guess only the endcall button is active, waking up your phone.
alex fung ,
you are wrong.
All hard ware buttons except vol buttons can walk the phone/ turn on the screen.
ah you are right. They wake up the screen, but the touch panel is still locked. Try TouchLockPro.
any simple solution please, touch lock pro is soo confusing...
and is there is some solution to lock phone on backlight off, i mean dim is activated not locking when the screen goes off
tnx in advance
Hope this helps
To lock the hardware buttons with the phone in lock mode try modifing the registry.( it is simple but do this at you own risk)
Install a free registry explorer like PHM RegitEdit im sure you will find here it on this site (regedit.Mrln_ARM.cab ) Donate if you like
When installed open and navigate to: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER",Then "ControlPanel",Then highlight "Keybd".
Change "DefaultKeyLock" value data to "1"
Aslo if you feel brave: HKEY_CURRENT_USER-ControlPanel-Backlight.
Change "AutoDeviceLockEnable" value data to "1"
This should activate the lock screen when the screen dims.
Good Luck
NB: You will need to soft reset for the settings to work!

...that part is not mworking on my HTC LEO withh updated offical ROM WWE.
I changed the registry , restarted and still the screen dims but noit locking ..after siome seconds screen goes off. my idea was to have screen locked on dim and stays like this for about 30-40 secs and then to go off.
any suggestion pls.
tnx in advance
HKCU->Control->Keyboard->DefaultKeyLock=1
and
HKCU->ControlPanel->Backlight->AutoDeviceLockEnable=1
is all i need.
It works like i would like to have it.
Thank you.
Touch lock pro is a realy nice program and i appreciate his work, but to me it has to many features.
I've been after this answer for a little while now, and was pleased to find this thread. But... when I looked at my registry settings they were already as you suggest, but all of the buttons along the bottom of the phone still wake it up. Is there another step that I don't know about? (I have tried soft-reset).
I'm running SPB Mobile Shell - perhaps that's getting in the way?
I'll keep looking for a solution and post here is I find anything.
Anyone else have any more ideas?
Thats a shame it wont work for you,It may be spb mobile shell, Rom related or an old locking program you had installed.
Shot in the dark but have you tried changing the values back, soft reseting and then changing them forward again and soft reseting?
registry not working on my HTC LEO too..
dang.. registry doesn't work on my Leo too..
any other way to solve this??
Try soft reseting.
only open your registry editor and make changes then ,wait for 2-3 minutes ( wont matter if your device goes off )
(If off wake device up)Then soft reset again.
otherwise use a different reg editor or flash another rom.
N.B or just use this, it is small and cool:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032
any recommended reg editor??
I never have a problem with PHM but resco is good.
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/
Remember you will need to wait some time before windows stores the new settings properly. Soft reseting straight away probabley wont work.
