Hey Guys,
Ive been using a trial of voice control for a few days now, and wondered wether i have to press my mapped button everytime i want to tell my xda what to do.
As far as i can make out, if i have to press a button each time, it looses its appeal quickly
I use the hands free xda headphones to command it, so while im on my bike it would be nice to tell media player what to do without pressing a button in my pocket each time.
Please help,
Adam
There is no "Microsoft Voice Control", neither there is a "Microsoft Voice Command Trial"...

I apologise, using the word "control" rather than "Microsoft Voice Command", and there is a trial of this software, im using it right now and I downloaded it from http://www.handango.co.uk/PlatformP...2&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=151270
So does anyone have an answer to my question above, do I have to press the button to start "Microsoft Voice Command" everytime I want to do somthing.
Thanks
i suspect that it does it like that because of cause if it would just catch the commands when ever spoken it would have to be turned on all the time
and if it were running like that it would be trying to recognize background noise and voices as commands all the time and use even more power and possible recognize some of the stuff as something and do odd things
I thought that might happen too, then i realised i have the 2 call buttons on the handsfree earphones that are easy to access (ref and green caller buttons) however i cant map these to voice control, does anyone know how to hack the button mapping ? like the volume sliders
You can only map buttons 1,2,3,and 4
Thanks everyone for your inputs, i have now managed to map the green or red buttons to anything i like, so now i can use my xda earphones green button to tell voice control what to do, works a treat, if anyone wants to know how, just ask.

pls go ahead and post how u did it..
Go to http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus_t.html and install this simply utility onto your XDA (found searching on the forums earlier)
Once this is done, you can choose to unmap hardware buttons (red and green call buttons) as well as the volume slider etc etc
Then, like voice control requires, you go to control panel > buttons.
You will notice the usual "Button 1, Button 2" etc, however now you have the option to map "Green btn" or "Red Btn" (or any button you unmapped)
Link voice control to either of your choice, I used green for this test. Once you have done this, plug in your xda official headphones. You can then press the green button on the earphones to activate voice control, and therefore instruct it to do the usual things.
Tonight this was especially usefull on my bike to work, allowing me to change songs without having to stop and take my xda out my bag each time.
This obviously means you loose the use of the green button for accepting or making calls without remapping each time, the onlt workaround for this is having "Phone" on the start menu and just using the touch buttons on the dialer for calling etc.
Hope this is of use to some people out there, its certainly prompted me to buy the full voice control later today.
You can still use the green button to make calls!
Press the button and say 'CALL whoever'
although it isn't a good idea to make calles while on a bike anyway
Green Phone button mapping
@adam_beasley:
rather than place the phone icon (shortcut) in the start menu, why not map the phone to let's say contacts or calendar buttons?
you can also map 3 programs to a single button & access the programs by the number of press(es). program 1 = single press, program 2 = double press, and so on....
also, you may try to map the phone function as program 2 in the green button so that when you double press it will function as the usual phone button.
unluckily, I can't test & confirm to you since I haven't reinstalled it yet after the upgrade to WM2k5 V1.60a.
Cheers.
The problem i have from all of this, is that during playback on media player i toggle the screen off to save power, when i do this, my red or green buttons do nothing, even with button lock off.
So even tho this system works well, its flawed bigtime for me over this one problem, anyone have some ideas ?
Why don't you try turning the backlight down to 0%, but leaving the screen on? It's the backlight that is responsible for most of the battery drain.
You could make a profile in PocketZenPhone with all the settings for your audio playback (backlight, volume etc). I seem to remember there is a way to make PocketZenPhone change profile from a button press - you could map a double click of 'hang up' button to change profiles.
I also switch the screen off whilst listening to MP3s and have mapped the Action (joystick click) button to 'toggle' the screen display. In this mode pressing any other button does toggle the screen back on. I do not have the ButtonLock on as you can't then wake the machine up to accept a Voice Command. I have Voice Command currently mapped to the Record button on the side of the device but would like to map to the Green button. I would prefer single press - to answer the phone, double press - to activate Voice Command. I have e-mailed a few questions to the author of the AE Button Plus utility to confirm this can be done.
anybody want voicecommand
Email me i will attach to you.
If only we could map the BT headset to the green button....
Is there a way to get the BT headset into the option list for the green button. Is there some other BT program that facilitates the recognition of the main button of the BT headset?
AE Button Plus has inactivated several buttons in my Blue A
Well, it seems i should read with more attention, but now that the damage is done I hope someone can help.
I installed AE Button Plus in my Blue Angel, and as a result the ok and explorer buttons do not respond to anything anymore. I then unistalled the program, did a a full back up, a hard reset followed be restoration. Nothing has changed, these two buttons are still dead. The don't even show on the list of buttons anymore. Argggghhhh!!
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
Hi, this is slightly off-topic, but I tried the PC version of Voice Command a long time ago (I don't think M$ still has it out on the streets), and it used to listen to every command, but won't do anything unless I begin the command with the word "Computer"... e.g. "Computer, what time is it?"
Wonder if there is such a switch for the O2... O2, what's my battery status

This happened to me at first, but i think your biggest fault was backing up while having this error, now any restoration is going to have this fault.
Rather than uninstall, just try installing it again, however when then screen appears with buttons to handle (about 7 drop down boxes), just choose "Do Not Handle" on each button then soft reset, worked on mine, then I uninstalled it.
How to upload the files to ftp, i have voicecommand 1.5, it working fine with me.
I own an O2 Mini & Eten M500.
Is there any possibility of remapping the power on/off button to another hardware key since my actual button is acting funny with me.(it works most of the time, but certain times even if I sit on it it wont power on the device. Power off is not a problem since I programmed it to sleep after xx secs.)
Any developer gurus out there who can develop a prog. for me
Thanks in advance for the help.
I dropped my HTC Hermes device and now the power button is stuck in.
Is there anyway to remap the power on/off function to another hardware button? Specifically the comms button.
well, i would like to delete my message, but dont know how?
i can edit it but i cant delete it, right?
You can use "AE Button Plus" to map all the other keys to other various functions, "power off the device" is among them...
you can even specify actions for single press, double press, triple press or long press for each button.. good luck
ae button or pqzII is okay

Thats quite strange and I've never heard that one before. I'm guessing there could be some oxidation on the contacts of the power button.
As a test to be 100% sure its the button which is the problem, have you tried calling the device to wake it up when the power button refuses to work? Reason being, is that I suspect its actually the device freezing and not waking up rather than just the power button malfunctioning. If the power button refuses to work and you can successfully wake up the device by other means (eg, a phone call) then you can explore other alternatives
how do i map leftsoftkey as the redkey(Red Phone Button) and the redkey as leftsoftkey?
current hardware keymap:
leftsoftkey controller rightsoftkey
greenkey controller redkey
what i want:
redkey controller rightsoftkey
greenkey controller leftsoftkey
reason for tiz is i cant seem to get morphgear to use the redkey or the greenkey even after mapping in the game. by mapping leftsoftkey to the redkey, i can then play the game with "A" "B" buttons using my right hand. so "A" will be mapped to rightsoftkey and "B" mapped to "leftsoftkey"(physically redkey).
i hv tried ae button plus.. tried unbinding redkey still no use. tried binding single press to virtual key too but to no avail.
It could help

Rigging screen off (like PWMP)
I would like help on this too. Is there any way to rig the device so the power button only ever turns on/off the screen (like windows media player does) or at least is there a program or cab someone can design to do this????
Thanks in advance.
I've figured out how to do the above, if anyone wants to know pm me.
hello everyone, i have the cingular 8525 and i noticed that when i press the green button with the phone logo to open the "phone" application (or to makes calls), it does not work...i dont think its the button itself but an issue with the software. i figured this out because I went to settings and and tried the "buttons" application to try to remap the button to the "phone" application however, i can only (re)configure button 1 (which is messaging) button 2 (which is internet explorer) button 3 (which is comm manager) and button 4 (which is the camera).....and there are no more buttons to reconfigure after that....i know i am suppose to have button 5 and 6 but they dont show anymore... any help would be deeply appreciated...thank you
I have the same prob, but my keyboard have a Italian setting. I think that this prob it's very annoying! Anyone could help us?
ive had that problem
Ive had the same problem, and my front buttons doesnt work, and it was hardware problem, send it to warranty.
hope usefull.
I have HTC TyTN and the same problem with call(green Button) it doesnt work at all.
When I want to enter the phone I press video call button , but could not make cals with green talk button , I should use talk button on screen.
Is there any help with this prob ?
Just fixed that problem.
The button didnt respond to normal presure , pushed it hard and it worked.
Pushed it hard 50 times or more and now it is working.
Probably the button needed some action to start working.
So what happened to "i know i am suppose to have button 5 and 6 but they dont show anymore" ? Oh, you just realized there was NEVER an option to change those buttons ? Ah, okay.
Recently I am having problems with my phone, and am wondering if it is a software or hardware problem.
I have tried loading the TNT4 rom & WS5SE roms (this is a g4), and there is no change (im on the Tnt4 one now).
The touchscreen works okay, but the soft key buttons do not. The right bottom one is okay, the left one triggers the right one, the send button show the letters "uytga" on the phone screen when i press them, the end button shows "mn" or something, the camera button works perfect, the comm manager button is the same as the voice button (even when i map it with a program it says "button 4").
It even happens on the soft keys on the keyboard when i slide it out.
Also I used Start-sSPL to put the roms on. Is there a way I can get the OEM one back on or fix the button problem?
Any help will be appreciated.
In the button mapping settings for my touch/vogue/xv6900/whateveryouwanttocallit, I have an entry for "Button 5". I tried mapping it to something and tried pushing every button on the phone and the button on my bluetooth headset for short and long times, and nothing seemed to activate that mapping. Can anyone help me with what that button 5 is connected to? Is its presence in the settings just a mistake?
The only other buttons available to map are button 1 for short and long presses, and that is quite clearly the camera button on the bottom right.
Did you flash a hacked rom. This button does not exist on the vogue, so it might be a button entry from another phone. This button does not exist
No hacked rom, this thing is stock from verizon. The only "interesting" things I installed was microsoft voice command and the htc home customizer. I do remember the available buttons seeming to change when I turned the voice speed dial (the built in thing) on and off, but doing that again doesn't produce a change, and I can't remember what the change was.
I think the VC cab added that button. You can delete it from the registry, as it doesnt exist in hardware
my vx6900 had it on there as well, no flashes or anything. I think it's a Verizon glitch.
