Dialup to access email - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have been attempting to use a dialup connection on my 8125 to update my email. I have plenty of cell phone minutes and do not pay for AT&T's data plan. Usally I just connect with WiFi. I have searched the threads on this web site and most of the hits on modems are for connecting your laptop to the phone to access the internet through GPRS. When I did set up the dialup connection I kept getting the error that there was no modem at that number. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. I use the stock 8125 ROM.
Thanks

Hey- does anyone have any ideas or am I just not searching for the right thing on this site?

Using my T-Mobile SIM in my Dell Wireless 5520 to access GPRS/EDGE

I am using a Wizard with WM6 and internet sharing wizard to connect to the internet. It works alright. Sometimes though, it will take forever to access the any sort of internet resources. I'm wondering what the cause of this is. Is it just GPRS lag? I also have a Mobile Broadband card in my laptop, rather then just activate my cingular card I'd rather just pop my T-Mobile SIM in there and get the service. I know that I don't need to unlock this card because when I stick it in the slot and restart my computer, the utility I use to connect the card to the internet picks it up as if it was a T-Mo SIM and the T-Mo GPRS/EDGE networks. Although when I connect to it, it says I'm connected, but I can't access any web pages. The utility also says I'm sending data but not receiving any. Any ideas? The card is a Dell Wireless 5520 Cingular Mobile Broadband Card. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
try changing your server settings?
Maybe try changing the server from internet2.voicestream.com to internet3.voicestream.com or vice-versa.
Also, you may need to have the t-mobile internet plan for you to get full web page access. This is currently $30 per month I think. Maybe you already have this?
Good luck
methinks the problem lies in that you have a tmo sim but a cingular mobile broadband card.
Tired more things.
As far as trying APN's I have tried internet2.voicestream.com; internet3.voicestream.com; wap.voicestream.com
We have a full data plan that allows full access to the internet which is used to access our exchange server for emails and contacts. I have used the internet sharing wizard to play world of warcraft from my phone. I'm hoping that means that I have a full access plan. internet3.voicestream.com doesn't work on my phone for a network plan but the others do. I have also tired to use my T-Mo SIM in my wireless broadband card as a modem connection, I've found that if I connect using the call numbers that people are using for their phones modem tethering and no login credentials like you're supposed to do to initiate modem tethering. I don't get any response from the remote computer. But then I start to use some of the modem strings I get as far a Registering on the Network before my modem connection terminates! Thats the last step! do you think I could dial it as a modem connection if I had the correct int string?

I read somewhere that somewhere someone was able to do this but they didn't really go all in depth about it. They said to leave the login credentials empty and use the t-mobile apn. Just like you do when configuring the networks on your T-Mo phone. I also and another question. Is there a difference between using wap.voicestream.com vs. internet(2 or 3).voicestream.com? I read somewhere that there is a proxy on wap.voicestream.com, but when I looked for the forum I read that on I wasn't able to find it.
t-mobile internet (2or3).voicestream.com
I recently got the hotspots service (added for free) and in that process they told me that I had to change my apn to internet2.voicestream.com. It was internet3.voicestream.com.
Incidentally, you can add the hotspots at not extra charge if your already on the $29.99 internet plan. you just have to ask them to switch you to the mobile internet with the hotspots.

T-Mobile's Web n Walk on a laptop

Has anyone on TMobile managed to used web n walk on their laptop over bluetooth.?
If so can you tell me what you did to get it working?
I have paired the phone with my laptop
Do i have to setup a dialup Networking connection to the GPRS connection on the phone?
I have a WM6 rom installed on the phone

How do you use net sharing

OK....I attempted to search for an actual "how to" on the net sharing feature.
I got multiple pages of threads with "net sharing" within the topic...but no actual how to set up or use.
Not quite sure what I need for a connection...Do I need a dial up account to log into...or a data plan on my phone(which I have)?
I got a bluetooth card in my Dell laptop...and Im running Black Diamond 9.1
Any tips would be appreciated.
BTW, I would like to get internet access from work...where they have now restricted use to just the intranet.
I use my service provider with gprs over usb.
I believe you can use dialup if you have a dialup ISP like AOL or something, but I never tried it.
I can't get bluetooth phone/laptop connection going though because my external bluetooth adapter and software are both tempermental. Got it to activesync once out of I don't know howmanytimes I tried.

Need 8525 Internet Sharing Feedback ASAP

Hey guys,
My wifi router for my home office crapped out today, so for the first time I tried to do internet sharing on my 8525.
I could not get it to connect using the My ISP GPRS setting, but it does connect with Media Net.
However, per the AT&T site, and a post I read while trying to search this here, I think I'll get hit with add'l charges setting it up this way. Is that true?
And if so, how the heck can I connect via the recommended My ISP GPRS setting??
(By the way, I don't have a Media Net plan, I have the PDA data plan/Goodlink plan).
Please help!!! Thanks!

That's the page I was referring to in my original note since it states: "IMPORTANT: All tethering must be done over the My ISP GPRS profile or isp.cingular APN. Tethering using the default MEdia Net profile or wap.cingular APN could result in additional data charges"
I am only able to connect internet sharing when set to Media Net, which is the way it says not to do it (but no other way works).
I just want to make sure i don't get socked with some crazy extra fees for doing this this way. (I do have the pda unlimited plan/goodlink plan, so i hope I don't get any data fees)
the PDA data plan only allows you access to the media net connection, and you are not suppose to tether using the pda data plan.......which is why that warning in there. there are countless threads out there covering this........you *might* be able to find them.
AT&T 8525 Internet Sharing
Check #6 in the instructions. These instructions assume you have set up a second My ISP connection using isp.cingular instead of wap.cingular. Try searching the AT&T site, possibly for "Laptop Connect."
I have the PDA plan and have been able to use My ISP (wap.cingular) for email and My ISP (isp.cingular) for tethering with no problem.

Internet Explorer can't open any pages.

I'm a new user on this forum so don't be hard on me.
I have Att 8525 it has Faria-R32 WM 6.1 rom, HardSPL7, and 1.54 radio. Any time I'm connected to the wifi network and try to access any internet pages I'm getting same error:
"The page cannot be displayed or or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check th connection settings and try again later."
I'm not using gprs data connection since I have a second phone (BlackBerry) and it has unlimited BlackBerry data plan so I only need wifi access from 8525 sometimes. Also is there any way to connect 8525 to the BlackBerry so it can use Blackberry internet connection?
I tried it on different networks tried it with proxy and without.
Any Help would much appreciated. Thanks
is it just ie or all internet connections?
as in other browsers and messenger or stuff like that
I have no other browsers or messengers so it is Just internet explorer. Should I try to install different browser?
I managed to get my cell phone On-line by reflashing official Att rom, but it still can't save proxy settings and go online with proxy
not sure 100% what it is that you seek
you cant use a proxy server unless it's your isp's
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server
the modem connects to the isp over the network and get access to the internet that way
do you mean that you wish to get internet using wifi or general activesync
or do you really want to somehow get access to a proxy after you get out on the internet
from your isp's gateway`?
"The page cannot be displayed or or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check
