T-mobile Customizations - Wing, P4350 General

What will I be missing If I stop the T-Mobile Customization from going through? What will I gain? I feel there are things missing or Hidden after the customization. Also, how do I do this sucessfully?

well im a newbie here but i can tell you that you gain an icon on your home screen that loks like a pda, and when you tap it your screen goes in to landscape mode, tap it again and it stays in landscape but changes orientation, tap it again and it goes back to normal. i personally like this feature alot it's very useful when you're playing a game or browsing the internet because you no longer have to slide the keyboard open. aside from that i don't think i don't really see any changes, but someone on this forum probably knows better than i. they way i did it was i pulled the battery right after you finish calibrating the screen and it asks you to tap again to continue.

You're not goin to miss much, but you'll gain alot like a boost in storage memory and a little boost in RAM. You won't have E-Mail Wizard, Oz IM, WinWap, T-Mobile Hotspot Login, and another program but you can move them to storage card and run them from there before you do the trick anyways. As for the trick itself all you have to do is a hard reset, then after you configured the screen and created (or not) a passcode, a screen comes up to Tap Screen to finish. Have you're stylus ready to soft reset at this point. Tap the screen and the default WM6 screen loads up along with a popup saying that it will finish customizing in 3 seconds. Soft reset before the 3 seconds are up and you my friend have a friendlier, healthier T-Mobile Wing. Just don't forget to feed it some healthy .cabs and if you're daring enough some registry tweaks. Enjoy!

i think the only thing i am afraid of losing is Voice Command and transcribe (yes I am the one who uses it. I never have a pen or paper handy). also really really want to try the Wing rom with touch.. wondering just how daring I really am.

Don't worry, you won't lose either of them as they're both WM6 apps. All you lose is a bunch of T-Mo junk, that's all.

I just hard reset last night and rebooted before the TMO customizations. One thing I noticed missing on the Today screen is an option for TMO ONS which displays Bluetooth & WiFi status. I was unable to get it added, but I assume it's either a registry change or a simple install.

Just to clear something up
If I do this trick I wont have access to the email program and IM? I have to save it onto the card?

if the wing functions like the mda, you just need total commander...run the program and change the directory to \extended_rom ...you need to type it in...and from there, just copy the cab files for the oz messenger over to your storage card. (or you can just do the whole soft reset thing and you should be able to run the cab from the extended rom).

XDA exec desktop messed up

I just messed up my desktop somehow, the regular desktop has been replaced by a desktop which is different and has a bunch of tabs at the bottom stating home, customs, settings, help
When I reset the device and start it, the old desktop comes up and it gets replaced by this new desktop, I think I pressed the o2 active button and this is what happened. Prior to that the pda behaved funny and said that I did not have enough power to start the wireless, and then I tried to check the power and could not get into the screen where it gives a breakdown of the battery.
when I click the screen icon to rotate the screen into portrait mode and then back to landscape(upside down) and then back to landscape(it skips portrait), the desktop is back to normal, however there is a black band on the right hand side with the regular thin lines running across the band. The band is about 2-3 cm wide and runs from 1 cm from the top to 1 cm from the bottom. it is functional because the icon of the screen does appear on it in addition to the wireless manager icon(circle with the black dot)
Is there any way I can get back my old desktop
O2 Active dosn't have tabs across the bottom, but that sounds familiar. Possible spb pocket plus? Can't remember but deffinately sounds like a piece of software I've played with in the past.
What have you got installed on the Exec?

thanks for the replies
in addition to the usual stuff from o2, i have got tcpmp, a zip progra and a cab installer
i guess o2active is the desktop? it is o2active, now the funny thing is, that i get the o2active desktop in the fourth orientation(the original orientation when you open the xda in clamshell mode) it seems to be the original desktop but with the black band on the right hand side.
an update on my dektop
The black side of the desktop has increased in size
and i got a message which saidSomething about a usb device which could not be authenticated and it said that tere was not enough power to connect to the usb or sd device and
then I could not open any file since the device(exec) was stating that it could not authenticate me, then reset it and i am back with a lrger black portion of the screen, please help

My bad, I just remembered the menu popping out from the left.
To xda_guy when you say you reset it, do you mean a soft reset only or have you hard reset it too?
i have soft resetted it
i dont want to hard reset it
Don't be scared of a hard reset.
Sync it, and your important stuff is saved.
The rest of your programs disappearing gives you a chance to install the latest versions, use the UPX program to compress them and make sure you have the latest ROM/radio in your device.
You don't need to do a hard reset,
Go to
Start> Programs> Install Type> Basic OK
The screen may look a bit screwed, change the Theme to something of your liking and do a soft reset. As you will have de-activated the O2 Active everytime you soft reset you will get a message telling you so but it's no big deal
thanks for the replies
when i sync my device, what info is tsored onto my pc?
how will i restore this info back to my xda?
is this the UPX website
http://upx.sourceforge.net/
which program should i use on this site?
steladel i followed your advice, and got back my good old screen, cool, cool, cool
what is the active o2 used for anyway?
when should one use a hard reset?

My first Pocket PC, and its a touch Dual :-D Lotsa questions

Some questions for the Gurus
1.) Is it possible to add a "New Message" shortcut on the desktop of the touch dual? It has the built in home screen and I can add shortcuts there, but when I do, it just gives a list of aps to add. or maybe instead of the "notification" shortcut on the lower left corner of the home screen, I can change that to "new message"
2.) When syncing with the PC using active sync. do you always have to configure it to update either way? (eg: if conflict is found, update Phone or update PC)
- What if I change something on the PC, and I also updated something on the phone? It would be such a hassle to keep on changing the settings and trying to remember where I updated last.
3.) When I am connected to the PC via USB, it syncs right? But if I leave it connected cause I am still installing aps or doing something else, or charging the unit, it keeps on repeating the sync process over and over again. This gets troublesome when I am installing an ap, and when I continue installing on the phone, it lags terribly because its still synchronizing.
4.) My date format is currently Day/Month/Year, somehow I cant find how to change it Month/Day/Year
5.) Is their an indicator thats its fully charge? like a pop up message (aside from going through power settings)
6.) Is it possible to make categories on notes or folders or is the only way to organized them is via actual file folders only?
7.) I have MP3s on internal and external mem. When I choose an alarm, I cannot see the Mp3s that are inside the phone, I can only see the ones on the external mem.
8.) Have you guys tried 8gig High Speed Memory Sticks on your phone? Planning to get one. Speed is ok? or Will 4gig do? I will store some music, but only a few, since I have an Ipod, a few pics, most of the mem will be for applications.
9.) On the Home screen of the Touch Dual, there is a weather ap, this also updates automatically using 3g/gprs/edge, I cant find the settings to cut if off or set it to manual update cause its expensive to have it always update every time you click on it :-(
10.) How much mem should I leave internally for it not to cause problems. Ive been installing tons of aps already hehehe. But I still have a little less than half available.
11.) Will any USB cable work with this device? It seems to be a pretty standard looking USB cable. I already a PSP cable and my portable hard drive cable, they should all be compatible right? it would be neat if I could just share the Cable.
12.) When I slide out the keypad, the default text type is always XT9, is there a ways to make it just standard text input "ABC"? I usually text with a mix of English and our local dialect.
13.) On program settings, there is a button mapping ap. it says this: Button 1- Camera, Button 2 - Voice Commander, Button 3 - Record. On the touch dual there are only a few buttons, which one is button 2 and button 3? I tried all buttons, nothing seems to launch voice commander and record lolz smiley Only the Camer obviously works. I know this should be in the manual, havent had time to read it pa hehehe.
Whew, hope you dont mind the questions :-D Sorry if they have already been asked before.

The message is contextual and will change accordingly - some providers will allow you to choose what is shown on start>settings>buttons
2.) When syncing with the PC using active sync. do you always have to configure it to update either way? (eg: if conflict is found, update Phone or update PC)

No you dont have to remember - it will sort itself out and only ask if there is a conflict where you might have changed both devices
3.) When I am connected to the PC via USB, it syncs right? But if I leave it connected cause I am still installing aps or doing something else, or charging the unit, it keeps on repeating the sync process over and over again. In activesync you can choose the option of automaitc sync or when you choose to
4.) My date format is currently Day/Month/Year, somehow I cant find how to change it Month/Day/Year
5.) Is their an indicator thats its fully charge? like a pop up message (aside from going through power settings)
The LED at the top of the device constantly glows yellow when charging and changes to green when fully charged
6.) Is it possible to make categories on notes or folders or is the only way to organized them is via actual file folders only?

4 gig will give you plenty of space
9.) On the Home screen of the Touch Dual, there is a weather ap, this also updates automatically using 3g/gprs/edge, I cant find the settings to cut if off or set it to manual update cause its expensive to have it always update every time you click on it :-(
In the weather app go to select city - then menu - the choices you want are there
10.) How much mem should I leave internally for it not to cause problems. Ive been installing tons of aps already hehehe. But I still have a little less than half available.
As long as you dont run loads of apps at the same time it should be fine. If its slowing down then change the x button in settings to close apps instead of minimizing them
11.) Will any USB cable work with this device? It seems to be a pretty standard looking USB cable. I already a PSP cable and my portable hard drive cable, they should all be compatible right? it would be neat if I could just share the Cable.
Yep
12.) When I slide out the keypad, the default text type is always XT9, is there a ways to make it just standard text input "ABC"? I usually text with a mix of English and our local dialect.
Search for posts - you need to do some more advanced work

I'm sure someone will pick up the points I havent
Sweet, I'm in the same boat as the topic started.
So let me add a question:
The right LED above the screen keeps blinking every ~4 seconds. Since I'm colourblind it's kind of hard for me to tell what colour it is, but its either yellow or green.
What does it mean and how do I turn it off (I know I can change some stuff in Sounds and Notifications, would that be the solution)?
Thanks and cheers cdyat for answering alot of those questions.
**It flashes when you have signal and are connected to the network. The colour changes with the status. Its green normally but changes to yellow when you have a missed call / message / reminder etc. There is also a blue led for bluetooth connections next to it. I have never turned it off but I have read a few posts that talk about editing the registry to do this. There is no simple way with normal settings** You can always PM me if its a silly question and you dont want to post for all to see.
Thanks, I posted my question on howardforums.com too and they told me the same thing. I don't really want to mess with the registry yet, since I got my phone recently. Besides, I don't mind it at all, just wanted to know why it did that.
I dont mess too much with mine. To be honest its pretty damn good as it is!!
Exactly.
As long as you don't just install everything anywhere on the internal memory, it should stay that way.
Which brings me to another question about the microSD card slot. I posted this on howardforums too, but might aswell ask here too:
Can anyone help me by telling me exactly how I can get a microSD card out of the device?
The manual states I should press on the microSD card itself to get it to pop out, but I can't even reach the microSD card with my fingers (I'm not fat ). I had to use a tool from my garage to help me get it out and I really doubt HTC had this in mind, so there should be an easier way!
Besides, when i tried pressing the card with the tool, it didn't even budge. So I just pulled it out instead of pressing it inwards to make it pop out...
I get out the microSD with the stylus, using the black broad extreme...
Yea thats a good tip, I found it out after giving it a few other shots.
Thing is, I had to press pretty hard and before, I was afraid of breaking something, so I held back.
But yea, the stylus does come in handy after all.

Gsensor or Gyrator?

I recently got my HD and need to figure out which auto-rotator is better. Also would like some instructions on how to install. THANK YOU!!!
Hi,
I use Flip it by Wild Berry team, its much simpler to use and configure than the two you mentioned.
http://rapidshare.com/files/172926970/Flip_IT_by_WildBerry_Team.cab
Simply copy the cab to your phone and run the cab. Cant for the life of me remember if it needs a soft reset but if its not working then do one.
Nogs
I did use gyrater but stopped and now use AEButton Plus. I don't now use an automatic rotate app.
AEB+ has a screen rotate function. I have assigned this function to a double press on the OK button.
This allows me to rotate quickly when I want and not automatically. This is my preference since I don't always want the screen rotated.
Find it here: http://ae.inc.ru
I also use it to map the volume up/down to actual up/down and double press for volume control and long press up gives a flash lamp (plamp) and long press down gives auto record on Resco recorder.
AEB+ is shareware but has virtually all the functions available in the unregistered state.
Worked through of few rotational apps but now staying with ChangeScreen. Very easy to use and exclude programmmes (just type in the name). Am finding my list of exclusions keeps growing and wondered whether it is mainly a gimmick.
I think this is because, unless the app is full screen, in widescreen you end up with a long header and footer plate and a lot less screen doing the real business.
Anyway try ChangeScreen .

Hello nogs,
I did 2 times an reboot, but still it don't works.
Do you have any idea.
btw i have a HTC HD
Personally I'd recommend either Changescreen or FlipIt. Both easy to set up and both work a charm!!
anybody got a clue how to totally remove flip it? ive tried with touch flo on and off and just normally remove and removing through activ sync but it still remains in the list of programs and also when i go to start/settings/menus its in there and the box is checked and when i try to uncheck the box it says "cannot move that item",only other way i can think to get rid of it totally is to reflash the rom ag ain which seems a bit extreme to remove an app.

Some roms have apps embedded into them so you cannot remove them unfortunately

[Utility] AutoLock - Automatic Screen Locking Solution

I have a Kaiser, and there's nothing more irritating than accidentally bumping a button while having the phone in your pocket, then having random things in your pocket scroll through your address book until it calls someone. Or opens up IE and finds a high-bandwidth website. When you don't have a data plan.
Things like this hurt. I've been trying to find a solution to it, and I happened to stumble upon an olllllld application on another forum. It's called AutoLock. I found it Here.
Anyways, long story short, it uses the built-in Windows Mobile screen lock and turns it on whenever the phone's screen turns on. So hitting the power button is enough to lock your phone. It's super convenient, and for the most part, it's not too buggy.
I've been using this for probably over a month now. It's a lifesaver. I had the .exe on my SD card, and every time I reflashed, I had to make a new shortcut and place it into the startup folder. So tonight, I made a CAB file out of it.
I hope you guys get as much use out of it as I do.
A quick note: It runs in the background. Terminating it will not allow it to function. The CAB will add a shortcut to the startup folder, so a soft reset will start it. Otherwise you can start it from the shortcut in the Programs folder.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is there a way to disable the program window that pops up after a soft-reset?
A: There is no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
Q: When receiving a call, does the answer button and screen stay locked?
A: The answer button and the screen both unlock when the phone is ringing. If the call is answered/ignored/stops ringing, the screen will be re-locked.
Q: Will it work with my phone?
A: This program has been confirmed to work on a few models. I believe that it should work on pretty much any touchscreen device running Windows Mobile. Please, try it and tell me if it works!

Kaiser (ATT Tilt)
Touch Pro (Fuze)

It's unfortunate that I didn't create this program. I only found it through about six months of searching on the internet. Maybe a friendly XDA-Developer could write a similar program and keep it updated with new features!
As far as I know, there's no way to disable the message screen on startup. Just hit the X in the top right corner, and it should minimize out of sight.
As for if it works on a Diamond... go try it and tell me how it works!
Awesome program! Thanks

Since it's the inbuilt Windows Mobile locking setup, when a call comes in, the phone is still locked, but the answer skin floats above the lock. So the screen "unlocks" so you can answer or reject the call, but it locks as soon as you answer or ignore it again.
I've discovered, using my Jade, that you can do the same thing by just setting the built-in Windows Mobile device lock to 0 minutes... You'd need to provide a password, though...
First press of the power button puts the phone to sleep... Press it again, it will ask for your password to unlock...

My Touch HD is getting a little temperamental- lil help

Hi so this is what frequently happens, I lose the top bar on the screen (start icons etc) which needs a restart to get back, sometimes the screen will not go black when the power putton is pressed(for locking), holding the end call button to lock the phone dosent work at all even after restart(not that i use it), also the email icons where you flick down and up to get a preview often dosent work and the email opens instead(happend from the start).
So what i would like to know is what can i do about this I assume there is a new rom out there that is really nice and stable but which do you suggest? I would like one which replaces the alarm setting in the default rom as that is so annoying. Also I use the youtube program all the time and I would like to still have the zoom bar in opera. your advice is really appreciated.
Im getting some of these problems, sorry dont know what to sugest! but my end key has never locked my phone it ends data conection ok !!??
Paul.
Have you tried a hard reset?
There are many great roms each Rom has a thread you can check them out to see what they have and what they can do it depends on your preferences not others
