Guys I have a problem with my keyboard I hope its a simple fix. Whenever I press some of the keys it does not respond sometimes and sometimes with one press the letter gets duplicated. Sometimes I have to press the key harder than usual to get the letter to show up.
Any easy fix for this?
Can anyone comment on this ?
This is not a straightforward fix if it is a hardware problem. First ensure the issues are not due to laggy behaviour due to software issues. Pretty easily ruled out if the issue is only with some letter keys and the device is generally lag free otherwise.
Assuming it is a hardware issue (and it's been reported a few times) then you either have the keyboard replaced or face an almost complete dismantle in order to clean the metal disc contacts on the keyboard. (Not what HTC would think of as a servicable component. See here:
The front keys you press are just a plastic layer not connected as such to the actual keyboard

If oxidisation has occured impairing the contact, you might need a little more than just an alcohol based wipe - possibly a mild abrasive on both the board contacts and the metal discs.
Doing this, is of course utterly warranty voiding! and could take you a loooong time with assembling and dis-assembling until you were happy!

Is it loose when twisting (IE rotating the screen 180 degrees) or is it loose when flipping the device open...
For twisting, the base (the area you have in blue, on the keyboard) is magnetic.
It is possible that maybe this has lost some of its magnetism ?????
Test it out with a fridge magnet to see if has a good magnetic field...
If you are talking baout the flip, there are these metal pins located inside the 2 hinges on the keyboard... (to the left and right of the blue area).
It is possible that the plastic has worn out, and these metal pins have a lot of play, allowing them to move very easily...
If this is the case, then you could always try and create more friction, within the hinges....
The best way to get to the part is to disassemble the main unit(not the LCD screen part)...
To do that, you are going to need a very tiny screwdriver, and a pair of tweezers....
Have a hunt around for the Universal Service Manual... That describes disassembly and re-assembler much more elequently than I ever could...

I recently purchased an MDA off ebay from another member on this site. They claimed everything on it was fine, but upon receiving it I found that the bottom of the screen didn't respond. After playing with the calibration I found that the bottom of the screen wasn't completely "dead" it just thinks its being tapped on a different spot of the screen. The seller claims this is a software issue, but after several flashes from different roms the problem still persists. Has anyone else seen this happen? And does this sound like a hardware issue?
I opened notes and took a picture of what happens when trying to use the scrollbar in landscape mode to show how off the calibration is at the bottom. Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this.

I had this EXACT same problem. I had the mistake of pushing down too hard while applying a screen protector and it pushed in the screen on the bottom. From that point, I could never calibrate the bottom of the screen. I was able to get a replacement, because I told Cingular that it was broken and it was only a month into my contract.
So, I think the guy probably messed up applying a screen protector or accidently somehow pushed in the bottom of the screen. This is in no way a software problem....deff hardware issue.

I just got a Titan off of ebay which they say has a slightly loose keyboard. Any ideas or tips on fixing this. I do not know if this is a common issue with the Titan and I have not received the phone yet.
Physically the Titan is very similar to the TyTn. The TyTn was renowned for the keyboard becoming loose. It can be fixed quite easily by slightly increasing the indents on the two keyboard runners. However, you do have to do quite a major disassembly of the phone.

PM me if the threads do not make sense. Basically you slightly increase the indents by tapping on them with a flat blade screwdriver and a light weight hammer.

See that little indent near the end? The slider runs over that to lock shut or open. There is an indent at either end of the runner and there are 2 runners = 4 indents (two for the lock open position and two for the lock closed position of the keyboard)
DON'T over do it or the runners will click so firmly into place you may find the keyboard very stiff to click open and closed!!!. Test them as you tap. (assuming you go ahead)

all I had to do was open up the titan and tighten the four screws that hold the sliders on.

You are correct of course. My solution above is based on the assumption that the sliders are loose even with the screws tightened.
So of course, if you are doing it yourself, check the screws are tight as your first plan of attack.

My TF101's power and volume buttons were getting so difficult to press that I almost had to squeeze both sides of the TF just to get the buttons to make contact with the switches. It wasn't always this way, it just got worse over a period of time. I took mine apart and discovered that the buttons sat pretty much flush with the bezel thus preventing the movement required to hit the respective buttons. The fix described below will not help you if the switches on the PCB need to be replaced.
First lets get the usual disclaimers out of the way.

Push the buttons outward when placing the tape on the inside of the bezel this should prevent the buttons from sitting flush with the bezel and make the buttons easy to use again. Once that's done, reverse the dis-assembly process insuring that no tape can be seen from the outside of the casing. I apologize for not taking pictures of the process, but if anyone needs me to clarify anything, just let me know. Hopefully this saves some of you from the headache that is dealing with Asus support.
I dropped my phone and destroyed the screen a few weeks ago. Fortunately I was insured, they agreed to fix it and I got it back inside 10 days or so. Problem, the damn screen was loose at the top corner - you could fit a fingernail in easy. So, more than a bit annoyed I called them up and they apologised, said they'll pay for the postage and they'd sort it out.
Sent it back and they just returned it with the same damn problem! I can lift half the screen out of the case if I pry my fingernail under the (already loose) top edge - see attached photo. You can push it back in place, everything works fine but it works loose if worn in a pocket like normal.
Clearly their engineers are incompetent and I don't know if I can be bothered to return it AGAIN to find most likely the same problem repeated. Looking at the inside it seems that it's just a bad glue job - I can see sticky stuff that's meant to be holding it in place. :silly:
My question is - could I just reglue the screen in there? Does anyone know what kind of glue to use?
If it's covered by insurance get them to fix the problem at their expense as if you glue it yourself you would render insurance invalid if any other problem happened they wouldn't fix it as it would be voided because you glued it yourself
*Sigh* - yeah like I said - send it back a 3RD TIME? I really think they have trained chimps doing the repair work.
