Problem Connecting to WiFi network - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello,
The network description of how I need to set it up is here: https://sara.morehead-st.edu/pda2.html
Does anyone see any known problems as to why a 8525 wouldn't connect to this network? It says it needs a password/etc to correctly know it is me when I connect and says it cannot connect because of this, but I have only got the message with the boxes to enter my name to come up once or twice, and each time it still didn't work. Now the box to enter my ID# doesn't even come up and it just has an error saying that I can't connect because it doesn't have my ID number. Is there any cab or anything I can use to make this comparible?

Qtek 9100 - Help with Wireless

Hey guys...
Let me begin by thanking everybody that makes XDA developers the tremendous resource that it is.. It has saved my device on more than one occasion..
Now my problem is that I cant connect on to my University's Wireless config..
They provide us with an Aegis Client which is supposed to work on a PPC 2002/WM 2003 but doesnt work on my Qtek 9100's WM 5.0
I know odyssey client could be configured too... but I really dont want to spend 50 dollars on it (which im not sure works in the first place)
Below are the instructions provided by my Uni.
Configuring Aegis:
Ensure that wireless is enabled.
Tap on the Aegis icon in the lower right corner.
Tap on Client and then Configure.
Add a new profile. Give it any name, such as osuwireless.
In the identity field, type anonymous.
In authentication type, select PEAP.
Under Tunneled authentication:
In the Identity field, type your OSUWireless ID
In the password field type your OSUWireless PIN.
In the Protocol field, select MSCHAPv2.
Select the Server tab:
Uncheck Do not validate server certificate.
Select Equifax Secure Certificate Authority under "Certificate Server". If this is not an option, select Any trusted CA.
In the "Server name must be" box, type ohio-state.edu and select Must contain domain name.
Press OK.
Configuring the wireless network:
Tap on the Wireless Network Utility.
Select Configure from the drop-down menu.
Tap on the osuwireless network to select and choose Move to Configured.
Tap on osuwireless in the configured Networks section and choose Properties
Select the Profile Info tab.
Select osuwirless from the "Authentication profile" pull down menu.
Select the WEP MGMT tab.
Check the Provide encryption key dynamically checkbox.
Select the WPA Settings tab:
WPA Mode = WPA 802.1x
Encryption = TKIP
Tap OK.
Tap OK.
Close the Aegis Client screen.
Your device is ready to use the network.
If you guys can give me another software that could possibly do the same on WM 5.0 please let me know.. Any response would be appreciated..
Thanks..

Connected to GPRS through XDA MINI S?

Hi all,
i have recently bought a laptop and as i am away alot, it would be helpful for me to connect to the internet through my phone. e.g. use my phone as a modem. However i cannot find any documentation on how to do this?
Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and how? I have tried through activesync but no luck.
If you could let me know that would be brilliant!
Thanks
Yeah its possible... just finished setting it up on mine This site helps:
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprsconnect.html
But i'll walk you through cos it took me a while to get it to work...
Firstly, are you on pay monthly or pay as you go?
There should be a program on you're XDA called "Modem Link" that is used for this. You can do it either over USB or infrared, though i recommend USB cos its much faster
Open this program and choose usb, then pick the Access Point you use to connect to GPRS normally on youre phone (check in the connection settings to see which AP corresponds to which settings if you need to) then press activate.
Now connect your phone to the laptop with the usb cable, and the new hardware wizard will pop up. Allow it to search the internet (you need a connection) and it'll install it automatically for you.
Then, On the PC, go to the Networking section of the Control Panel (Start > Settings > Control panel > Network)
Select "Make new connection" (this should start a setup wizard)
Choose "Dial up to Internet"
Choose the "connect via a modem" option
Enter the telephone number to dial as *99# (No area code, and turn off dialing rules)
Username for Pay Monthly is: o2wap
and for Pay and Go is: payandgo
Password for both is: password
When complete, go to Control panel > networks, and right-click on the icon for your GPRS connection. Choose properties and set the following: Connect Using - select your modem (infrared / USB)
You need change one other thing - to do with your modem settings. Do this as follows:
Go to Start > Settings > Control panel > Modems
On the Modems tab, select your modem, and press Properties
On the Advanced tab, you need to enter string in "Extra initialization commands". This initialisation string will need to be entered as:
+CGDCONT =1,"IP","wap.o2.co.uk" (for contract)
or
+CGDCONT =1,"IP","payandgo.o2.co.uk" (for PAYG)
Note the space before the =1. obviously dont include the bit in brackets.
I found I then needed to go into internet explorer and go on Internet Options > connections tab > choose "dail when network connection not present"
and then select the GPRS connection you made earlier > press settings > enable proxy server.
use the following ip address for the proxy server:
193.113.200.195
Now, I'm not sure which port number you will need, because it says to use 9201 but that didn't work for me, i use 8080. try both and see which will lets you load up a page.
press ok and try to load a page in IE. dial you connection when asked and it should work. try google as a test.
Tell me if you run into any problems.. I have it working on my pay as you go sim.. I have no idea if it will work on pay monthly, you might need to try using some of these settings:

02 GPRS

Does anyone know the GPRS setting for 02 PAYG UK sim cards?
Thanks.
hi,
I have also posted a thread asking for the settings but no luck at all, the only way so far is to pay for dial up
o2 GPRS setting for PAYG
Try This: http://www.filesaveas.com/o2wap.html
Good Luck
These settings will allow you to access the whole of the internet on your phone using PAYG, as currently you cannot access any site except google.com and o2.co.uk. If i was you i would sign up for the 7.50 a month unlimited browsing bolt on(Not actually true as you are limited to 200mb a month). You should get 1mb free a month, but as you will find out 1mb doesnt last very long,if you go browsing, i would say it would be good for about 5 pages then its gone and you will be paying top wack for the internet.
Please note that only Mobile Internet Explorer will work with these settings, you will not be able to use or access Mobile MSN or Outlook as these are not supported.
• Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Advanced (Tab) > Select Networks (Button)
• You should now be on a screen titled “Network Management”. Now select both drop boxes to “My Work Network” then tap OK
• You now need to tap the Tasks tab and then the “Manage existing connections” link
• From here, tap the New button
• Name the new connection “O2 GPRS” and select modem as “Cellular Line (GPRS)” then tap Next
• You will now asked for the Access point name, here you should enter: “payandgo.o2.co.uk”, then tap Next
• You will now be asked for the username and password. The username is “payandgo”, and the password is “password”
• Ignore the Domain box and ignore the Advanced button, just tap Finish
• You will now be presented with a screen with your connections listed. Simply tap “O2 GPRS”. (There will now be a dot besides the name “O2 GPRS”. There may be other connections, you can delete if you wish. You also may have an “Auto pick” option, do not select this)
• You now need to tap the Proxy Settings tab
• On this screen you need to make sure that both the “This network connects to the Internet”, and “This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet” tick boxes are both ticked
• In the Proxy server box below the tick boxes, enter: “193.113.200.195”
• Now tap the “Advanced” button
• Tap HTTP, enter server as “193.113.200.195”, port: “8080”, tap OK
• Tap WAP, enter server as ”193.113.200.195”, port: “9201”, tap OK.
• Leave Secure WAP blank (if there is anything in this entry, delete it)
• Tap Socks, enter server as “193.113.200.195”, port: “1080” and the type as “Socks 4”, then tap OK
• Tap OK 3 more times. Then tap X
• Now launch Mobile Internet Explorer to test the new settings
worked a treat, thanks mate.

Connection manager and proxy servers.

My device is simple smart-phone with windows mobile 6.1 professional operating system. I have a problem with the connection manager and proxy servers. Let me explain my problem.
My application needs to get some date from the Internet. I use for that GRPS connection. But I need to specific WAP connection with PROXY. Below I put all steps which I do to make that kind of connection.
1. "Start" -> "Settings" -> "Connections"
2. Click the "Connections" icon.
3. Click the "Advanced" tab.
4. Push the "Select Networks" button.
5. Push the first from the top "New" button.
6. Enter a name for new connection (for example "mywap").
7. Push the "Modem" tab.
8. Push the "New" button.
9. Enter a name fro the connection (for example "mywapcon").
10. Access point name (for my operator is "wap").
11. Click the "Next" button.
12. Enter a user and password (both "wap").
13. Click the "Finish" button.
14. Click the "Proxy settings" tab.
16. Check the "This network connects to the Internet" box.
17. Check the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" box.
18. Click the "Advanced..." button.
19. Click the "HTTP" item on the list.
20. Enter the "Server" host (for example "proxy.host.eu") and "Port" number (for example "8080").
21. Click "ok" button.
Now, I have a new connection which I can use in my application to connect to the WAP Internet with proxy. Below I put the steps which I make to request for my application about proxy and connection.
1. To get a GUID to my new connection I use the "ConnMgrEnumDestinations" method.
2. This GUID I use to make a request to the connection manager. I use for that the "ConnMgrEstablishConnectionSync" method. When the connection occurs the method above returns the handler to the my connection.
3. Now, I try to check about proxy servers to my connection. I'm using for that the "ConnMgrProviderMessage" method and a returned hander.
I read about that a lot of articles but it still don't work correctly. When I call the "ConnMgrProviderMessage" in the step 3, the operating system returns my the "E_NOINTERFACE" error. I don't know why because I defined the proxy server for this GUID connection.
Did you have that kind of problems in your applications ?? Can you help me ??

I would check these APN setting from your telco, but I had problems initially , I had to reboot phone or toggle Airport mode to get it working.
Also check your network type is set to auto GSM/WCDMA etc..
Well I use these settings on other mobiles and they work just fine. Also the network mode is set to auto.
What type did U use in settings of APN profile?

Must be one of these toggles widgets which you forgot to re-enable before uninstalling it.
