GPS tutorial => Position Determination with GPS - P3600 General

Hello guys...
I found a very nice page about the working of the "Position Determination with GPS".
read through these pages and use the menus on the left to go on further...
this will explain any further questions...

Lot's of good pages out there about GPS - all I want to know is how do I tell the GPS in the Kaiser to get rid of a bad fix that it keeps holding on to. Either reset old position to make a "search the sky" or to modify the initial position that the GPS tries to locate from ...

disallow screen rotation

Hello!
I need to write software that disallows any screen rotation on my Wizard.
How can I do it? I didn’t found any registry settings for this. The best way
that I see is hooking ChangeDisplaySettingsEx. But unfortunately, SetWindowsHookEx
doesn’t works on WM 5.0, at least it said on some topics. Please, give me any solution for this problem or example code to hook some API function.
wm5: [HKLM\System\GDI\Rotation]
Angle=dword:0
00000000 portrait
0000005a righthanded landscape
0000010e lefthanded landscape
then RegistryNotifyCallback will do
tanks a lot
I will try this way.
But I afraid it will be notified after screen rotation starting.
Adjusting this registry value in regedit tool did't help.
So I suppose this value is changing after rotation is done.
You can delete the start up service of ScreanRotate.
Go to HKLM/Services/ScreanRotate and delete it.
I think before you doing this, you can export it to a reg file
It's not bad idea.
but delete this key leading to system restart for apply
I just try to stop this service.
Not luck : (
This key not present in the registry storage.
I am under WM 5.0
Maybe you talk about some early system.
Hi hoblano, I'm experiencing the same problem, did you find a solution ?
thanks,
Scalposcarno
use task manager 2.7 and stop service...if you know it is service...
same way to stop kbd lights...btw,
I tried, but the result is the same as the one obtained by manually deleting the Screen Rotate voice within the services voices in the registry: avoiding the load of the service providing the icon on the task bar enabling the user to rotate the sceen one or more times by tapping on it.
I still don't understand ... at this point the most probable thing is that the service that rotate the OS screen when rotating by hand the HW screen, is invisible with respect to registry voices and to applications like Task Manager 2.7 or MemMaid. Apart from criticizing the constructor choice (why didn't they thought that someone should have been more comfortable using only one view mode ? e.g. landscape one), is there a way to obtain a list of core services and to avoid one of those to be loaded ? or, otherway, is there a way to intercept the event thrown when manually rotating the screen of the terminal ?
By the way, I'll have to do it with Java ...
thanks all

How to add weather locations?

I found a post detailing how to add some weather locations at http://www.avforums.com/forums/htc-mobile-phone-discussions/1081931-htc-hd2-15.html#post10873219

One of the problems that I've read is that of "My Location". After a bit of searching I found a tool that allows you to add more cities to the default list:
Manila 2.1 and 2.5 Weather Editor PPC Edition - xda-developers
Install that application to your phone and then go here AccuWeather.com - US Weather Forecast Search - Local Weather Forecasts
In the "Internation Location" enter the town/city that you live in (I'll use Worcester) and press "GO!".
Click on the relevant link (Worcester, United Kingdom (Worcestershire, England)).
In the URL you'll see loccode=EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester. We're interested in the EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester bit.
Open "Weather City Editor" on the HD2.
Choose "United Kingdom" from the "Country" drop down.
Press "Add City".
Choose (GMT) in "Time Zone".
Type Worcester in "City".
Type EUR|UK|UK248|WORCESTER in "AccuWeatherCode".
Press "Add".
At this point you can either add more cities or exit the application.
Restart your phone.
Now, go to the "Weather" application on the slide menu.
Choose "Menu" > "Add Location".
Start typing Worcester.
When you see it appear in the list, choose it (make sure it's the United Kingdom one :grin.
Press "Update Now".
Slide back to the "Home" screen and press on the clock. You should get to the "World Clock" screen.
Choose the "Worcester" radio button.
Press "Back".
It may take a few minutes for the animations to show up on the "Home" screen.

Now I was going to do this to see if it works, but to install the first app I need to go through the hassle of installing the .net compact framework, which frankly I can't be bothered to do. I did try searching through the windows directory for the xml file and found "Weather_Pages.xml" but I don't think it relates in any way to add city codes in it.
Does anyone have any idea which xml file I have to find and edit to add more location codes?
Thanks
Installing .NET framework probably takes less time than writing this post.
You have a solution - yet you choose not to use it because you're too lazy to install something that's needed anyway? Sorry, I can not understand your reasoning.
And it works very well too
AND... the author says you probably only need .Net 2.0 which is already on your phone.
Many thanks for this. Works a treat on my HD2. My Location never really worked for me in the small town I live in. This has provided a better solution. Cheers! mate.
why cant this crappy weather "my location" not just use google maps or just my f*cking GPS? Google maps finds my exact location in a sec even if I'm inside (almost everytime) and my GPS function works splendid, but the "my location" always shows some ****ty town 10 kilometres away. Its f*cking annoying. Sorry for the swearing but the h*ll were the developers thinking?????
"Okay, lets see, lets make a weather app!! yeah, good idea, lets also put in a GPS, but we should definitely not combine the two"
OMFG - I love my HTC but this app is making me dizzy, gonna disable it using duttys
I have been able to add my location and when I go to weather, it updates fine and shows the current weather. Right now it is cloudy. However, on the homepage under the clock, it keeps showing rain no matter what. The temp seems the same but the weather that is showing is not the accurate. How can I fix this?

Make sure the clock is not set to My Location, but to the same city as the weather tab.
Add locations
Been Playing with my new HD2 over the weekend and the my location works perfectly in a regional town in Australia but I can't manually add the towns into the weather tab to monior weather in nearby regional centres. The add loations only has major cities but the my location successfully finds all towns I have visited so far which arent avalable to be added as locations and returned the correct weather settings. If the my location is able to retrieve the weather there must be a way to get one of these towns permenantly added to my locations list so I can check the weather in other parts of the country outside capital cities.
My first post on this forum is a big thank you!!.
I'm very shallow and wanted the weather working or it was going back and I was going to get an iPhone instead.
Weather is now working for my town
How do I get it to display the days and weather description instead of IDS_Home_State_0 etc?
Thanks
My second post is I must learn to tell the difference between the / in a URL and the | that the instructions gave
All fixed, even happier now!
I'm sure I must appear really dumb here but where on the HD2 do I go to add my city?
Hi,
can anyone please give me a brief feedback if this tool works with the latest official rom release 1.66? Maybe he/she can even tell me his/her exp with a german device because I read alot about problems regarding sence & manila crashes in a german pocket pc forum (don't know if it is allowed to post the adress here, anyone may get it per PM). And I would appreciate to miss another hard reset
Thanks in advance!
Lars
Uhoh,
I used this app and first time it worked fine.
Second time, I've now lost the whole home screen and all options.
All I have is the start menu and icons across the top and the phone/contacts buttons at the bottom.
I assume this is because the editor disables touch flo 3d and htc sense when it starts and hasn't re-enabled them. Anyone point me in the right direction as to how to turn them back on?
Ta!
Sorted: Just had to go to the today settings and re-enable htc sense.
You have to turn Sence back on in....
Settings > Home > Items and put an X in the HTC Sence box
http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/editor/separator.gif
I've only just managed to actually find the right city codes for this!
I think the linked page has changed a bit and all the search boxes now operate by post code.
You actually have to switch to the international page and search on there rather than searching in any of the boxes.
Alternatively, just go straight to www .accuweather.com/world-index.asp
Thanks mate, I will try this program. I've been looking for a solution for this for a long time.

HD2 Weather problem

Hello all,
I have been searching for hours on this one, but I really can't find the problem. Ik read manuals, searched through topics but it doesn't seem to work. Now here's my problem:
At first, the weather was nicely updating at every location I was, and that was also showed in the today screen after the clock. Now, for some unclear reason, it always shows "Antwerp" in the start screen. When I go to the weather menu, I can update the current location, but it doesn't show that location in my home screen. This is really annoying me!
Anyone has an idea of what I am doing wrong?
thanks in advance!
greetz
Same problem here, try disable proxy in connections.
hello,
I found it, in my case it was really stupid... When you go to clock menu you can add places. There I selected Antwerp, so that is automatically the location being showed...
Just changed it to my location and everything works great.
grtz
Thank You.

How does the Navipanel work?

Hi @ll
I have a little, perhaps easy question. I am currently building an app which works with several address. A nice feature of my app would be, to start the installed navigation software (tomtom, navigon, ...) with the target address to automatically start navigation.
Now I have seen that there is the so called Navipanel from HTC which does something simillar. But how does it work? I just own the HTC HD not the HD2 with the latest one. Are there any specifications for the navigation software to start them with a specific address?
C YA @LL
Nobody knows?
sensors and functions and navipanel
nekromonekron!!!!
The question is not correct not how,but where is the navi panel working..?
In Touch pro absolutely. In other phones, not so well. But there is a fantastic expantion video even here in this forum.Look for touch lock proThis little program is free, and comes with a website tutorial, and there is the video.Even google is helping you.Just search for it.
Navi panel is the one below the touch screen, and actualy it has the buttons for navigate the phone and for touching them,or better to say swipe your finger into many diff. directions, you activate sertain function. The functions are limited to your phone. What made it is,what functions are aviable on it....
hope it helps somehow Helios

Thanks for your answer, but I think we are talking about two totally different things ... I am talking about the so called "Navi Panel", which is a panel activated when you put your HTC into a car kit. With this panel you can start a certain navigation software (Navigon, TomTom, etc.) with several parameters. For example, with the Navi Panel you can start the navigation software and let it start the navigation to your home location, without any fingertip. Or start the navigation to a certain address from your contact list without entering the address into your navigation software. And that's what I want to know: How is it possible to start a navigation software with a destination parameter?
woooww. This is something new for me.sorryyyy.

Rotation Both Ways

Hi i'm aware how to add applications to auto rotate, and it is very useful indeed. However I was wondering if there is any way to enable it to auto rotate left and right similar to the iphone.
I have spb pocket plus which allows you to rotate left or rotate right however it doesn't use the g-sensor.
Search for ChangeScreen or Gyrator.
Take THIS one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=466858
Tried almost all other apps (gyrator etc.) but this works best. (BsB-Tweaks can also add Autorotation to apps but only in one direction).
ATTENTION: read thread carefully and register exceptions (manila, camera etc.) as advised by the experts to keep camera and other manila features work normally !!
If it´s not in this thread do a thourough forum search (rype "changescreen" into search filed) to find the exceptions to be registered. Takes some time to find it but that´s life
Thanks troed i think thats just what I was looking for, will give it a go and see how i get on
