Solution:
Very simple solution. Go to Settings - Sounds and notifications. Then click on notifications on the bottom, then click on the Event dropdown menu and select Messaging: New text message and uncheck the display message on screen box. You can do the same for MMS and Email by selecting them from the event dropdown box.

new text message notification

I'd like to disable the notification when you receive a new text message, it would be cool if you can get rid of the little pop up but the little envelope shows up on the top bar.
yes, yes it would

SMS is sending...? or not?

Hi Guys,
i bought a Touch HD and i like it very well, but i miss from my last Nokia Phone, that i get an information from my phone it is sending a sms, when i do it.
If clicked on Send there came a little Icon, where i did see ahh it is now sending my sms and if it was finished the icon goes away.
Is there a possible to get exactly this on a Touch HD?
MfG Rayzer HD
Not exactly.
But you can use Advanced Configuration Tool by Schaps' (see thread on Development and Hacking room). It's a very useful application: it patches many regkeys, one of these is just one that changes "SMS send" message displaying mode. See that thread and just install the app, you 'll find the solution of that problem.
if item is not sent, there will be a message pops up tells you that....
Ah thx! No exactly that what i want, but its also ok.
For all:
Software: Advanced Config (see upper post)
-> Messaging -> SMS sent notification
Make this enabled and u get an information when sms sending is finished.

What about sms delivery notification?
I choose in settings - always sms delivery notification,but it doesn't work...Why?
You can also switch this on using HD tweak.
the popup is great... would be nice if the sound could be disabled when the sms is sent

SMS New Notification?

Is there anyway to stop the little notification pop up coming on when a new message comes??
Its starting to pee me off when am writing a text and one comes in and it blocks the keyboard etc, which is often due to running a football team, I've tried everywhere but either am wording the search wrong or just being stupid...
Many thanks
Stu
Just download "Xperia tweak", you can disable sms notification in that app!
Settings => Personal => Sounds and Notifications => Notifications
1. Choose Event: Messaging: New text message
2. Uncheck Display massage on screen
3. OK
Brilliant thanks Wrekk, been bugging me for a while that!! Nice and quick reply

Np mate

annoying issue.

I've just had my touch replaced due to a fault and I have a little problem I cant remember how to fix.
When I send a text message, when you receive the little notification at the bottom to say your text has been sent, its vibrates 3 times as if to say I've received a text. Do you know how to turn the vibration off when sending a text?
I've had a browse and can't find any information on this
thanks in advance.

I have disabled all notifications for sms messages sent, so i'm not 100% sure if what I'm describing below will work as I don't have the option for sms messages succeeded (could be because there is no such setting or because I have already disabled this function).
Anyway, I'm sure it's work a look. Go to Settings\Sounds and Notifications\Notifications. In the Event box, scroll down to the option for Message : Message send succeeded (if there is such an option as there is one for mms) and uncheck the box to vibrate.

Email and message program question

I didnt like the way the emails and messages opened in the home tab, ie it goes straight to the latest message so I added the mail and messages programs from the start menu to my quick links which corrects these problems. However, there is no notifications on the quick links to notify me if I've got a message or not. Is there a way you can get notifications to come up like it does on the home tabs?

You can set notifications to show on screen messages for these events, yeah.
Go to Settings, All Settings, Sounds & Notifications, Notifications (tab) and when you go to message or new email message, you can set it to "Display message on screen".
Hope this helps

Unfortunately not because if I go into settings I don't have an option for 'All settings'. The only option I can find for notifications is under display and sounds, and I can only change the sounds and vibrate for notifications. Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry - it's the settings tab, then Menu, then All settings.
It's frustrating because All Settings is what the settings icon in the start menu used to do, and some people have modified the registry so that it's back that way (me included), so when you want someone to go to settings, you have to actually tell them to go to the settings tab, then menu, then all settings, when you just want the bloody windows settings screen!! lol

Thanks, I never even knew that all settings was even there.I'll see if that works, cheers
The notification wasn't exactly what I was after, with the fix suggested above a pop up comes up saying new sms which is not exactly what I was after. What I wanted was something like on the messages on the tabs where you get a green circle superimposed with a number of how many messages you have. Can that be done?
Ah - I see what you're saying now. Sorry, I misunderstood.
Have you looked at MaxManila at all? That does exactly what you're asking.
