You should have read the instructions before trying the upgrade. ROM upgrade goes first, then the radio stack. I don't know if there's something you can do yourself to fix your device, or if you need to have it reflashed by your supplier. Anyone else?

Hi,
Seems like you are another of the many victims who got problems
after trying to upgrading new ROM & Raidio stack. Hope you still
got that warrant and get it replaced with a new one. Otherwise
you might have to try what some crazy guys do here trying to fix
it by doing all sort of bootloader etc.. Hope those who are trying
to get the upgrade ROM and Radio stack be very careful and make
sure your device are from the same supplier or distributor where
you got the new upgrade. Otherwise it will be screwed. Dont learn
your lesson the hard way.
same problem here.
i've got the O2 NL XDA
downloaded the 3.15 and radio updates from O2 NL website
installed updates as per instructions
1st update went without a hitch
2nd update totally screwed my xda.
now it takes a long time to start up, and when it does it just displays a white screen with a blue taskbar.
tried the bootloader way of flashing the rom, but still no luck
luckily I can send it back in to O2 to have it fixed.
I may try to do it by backup up another XDA, and reflashing mine.
Same prob with me..
I've got exactly the same problem. I downloaded the Rom update 3.15 and the new radio update. First I installed teh Rom update and after a hard reset I "installed" the radio update.
While updating the XDA hang and I waited for about ten minutes to see if the XDA was really hanging. I gave the XDA a hard reset but then the XDA didn't work anymore (white screen and blue bar on top).
I can still access the bootloader. I installed a Rom from a XDA which still works. Still no difference. When I tried to write the Radio rom to a sd-card I got that message that I have to connect one or another RS cable.
The XDA still doesn't work anymore. I have contacted O2 but they told me that they couldn't help me because they can't find my IMEI number in their system. I contacted the company where we ordered all the XDA's but I still don't have an answer.
Thank you O2 for being so nice with not helping me out with my one week old XDA without any scratch. I hope my XDA could be replaced as soon as possible since the XDA will not sold anymore when O2 changes to Telfort !
If you can make the ROM update work, you should be able to install the corresponding radio as well.
Try this:
1. Make sure you have the latest version of ActiveSync (=3.6)
2. Make sure the battery is fully loaded.
3. Extract the ROM update and Radio update to different folders.
3. Connect the cradle to AC-adapter and computer.
4. Put the device in the cradle and make sure it connects to ActiveSync.
5. Run the ROM installation application. Should take 5-6 minutes.
6. Run the radio installation. IMPORTANT: When you are prompted to remove power supply, pull the power plug from the cradle. If you do not disconnect power, the update will fail. I think this update took a little more time than the ROM update, and the device may seem "dead" for a while.
Good luck!
Hy Guys.
Are there any news about the problem flashing the XDA?
Tried last night to update my XDA to the last Qtek-Versions (ROM 3.16.52.....)
ROM Update works fine, but after the RSU Update the phone didn't work any more.
Have the same white screen with the blue taskbar and the little keyboardicaon down the right side.
Entering Bootloader mode there comes the Error Message "GSM Error"
Nice screen is the qtek "Booting Screen".
It shows
G <empty>
R <empty>
3.16.52
Hope there are any other hints to resolv this problem.
Have anyone got some experiences with sending it back to O2 with an "unoffical" Softwareversion?
Or is there any posibility to change the ROM Version to an old (original) O2-RomVErsion?
Thanks for any help....
Regards
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
I would suggest to try upgrade you device with any XDA ROM version by bootloader's CE to SD backup/restore and after try again to upgrade RUU by PC.
I know that upgrading/degrading by bootloader is the more safety way to do it.

Riccardo

SD-Card Writer just orderd
But I don´t know if it will work. Since the Bootloader says GSM Error, I think there will be no other posibility to restore it.
Let´s wait for some days, hope and we will see.....

ROM Date: 05/27/02
Radio Version 4.01
Protocol Version: 324e2
How can I upgrade the ROM to newer version or do I really need to upgrade it?
If I need to upgrade can someone walk me throu it thanks i'm a new member thanks again
MAKE SURE YOUR FULLY CHARGED!!!!
when xda is on click the signal icon and turn the phone part off.
next turn the pda off by pressing the power button
then take the sim card out.
also remove all SD/MMC cards
turn pda back on and perform a soft reset
put in sync cradel and LEAVE THE POWER CABLE OUT OR YOUR PHONE WILL DIE AT THIS PART!!!!! ALSO DO NOT TAKE IT OUT THE CRADEL TILL IT TELLS YOU TO!!!
downlaod http://www.o2.co.uk/personal/xda/docs/Radio_Stack_Upgrade_v421.zip
install that as it tells you TO REMEMBER NO POWER PLUG!!!
once done after following what its told you to do download this: http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDA-developers-SER-v12.exe
THIS TIME PLUG THE POWER CABLE IN YOUR PHONE!!! ALL SIMS AND CARDS OUT ASWELL!!!
place xda on cradel install the new downloaded file once done (follwing what it tells you onscreen) after the hard reset (all data is lost) it will ask if you would like to unlock your phone click on yes and then wait for it to do what its doing.
after that perform a soft reset.
place in cradel again POWER PLUGGED IN ect... no sim no cards....
download PPC2003: http://www.ali.nildram.co.uk/xda/ali-win2k3.zip
install it as you did with the XDA service rom (follwing its onscreen instructions)
once done and performing its hard reset
you now have a UNLOCKED AND NEWEST SOFTWARE OUT one that aint released yet ;o)
If you **** it up not my fault. also if it ****s up so badly (e.g stops at 1% when upgrading) you may never get your xda to work again as its bootloader would of been destroyed (
As a new user, you may wish to go to your cellular provider and see if they offer any ROM upgrades that they support directly. They should because your ROM is old. That way you will not risk voiding your warranty and ending up with a $400 paperweight. The newer, more advanced ROMs are great, and I am a proud user of all of the latest and greatest, but until you know the device really well, I would not take the risk of frying your device.

Hi,
I suggest to copy your current ROM ( & boot image ) on a 64MB SD card.
just in case something goes wrong and you can not sync anymore.
If you need to turn it in for repairs and you have a xda dev rom, you might just copy your original rom back to the xda.

Silver

kumara wm 6.1 last present 2 gig storage card.
success!!!!!!!!!! now works like a dream!!!!!!!
yes my problems were sorted out just the way ironeagle and Brian told me to reflash my ROM.I went back to WM5 the original ROM posted in WIKI,just follw my tread and strictly follow these steps and you can not fail unless you have a hardware bug in your phone. Now my phone works great and responds much better. WM6 upgrades not meant for serious office users good for experiments and be prepared to brick your device!!!! so I say stick to the original ROM and have fun ........love you wiki .......
Back to WM5 and glad I went back-Step by step tutorial

2.Remove memory card from Atom.
3.Go to bootloader in ATOM by pressing camera button and soft reset hole with stylus simeltaniously.

5.In the desktop PC go to C:\windows\temp and run DSUU update utility.

using active sync method on windows vista,
downloaded the Rom from orange web site have
also tried HTC Rom and that also stps at 12%
phone now has no gsm on boot up
If you can find the SHIPPED STOCK radio rom you may have the slightest chance of recovering the radio BUT it sounds like you have got a corrupted radio rom. This is generally a total brick. If you can't get the original rom on, you might be able to recook it without the radio rom using ROM Kosch. Should be able to find it here somewhere but if you have changed the SPL then you might have problems.
Hi all,
I'm a newbie here so sorry of this type of problem has previously been solved in a later thread. If so I couldnt find it.
Several months ago I returned from China to Germany with my Dopod C858 with stock windows in English, I found a link on how to upgrade the PDA to a cooked rom ( I cant quite remember which one but I worked fine and looked quite smart compared to the standard windows layout) nedless to say several days later I was not quick enough with the charger and let it run flat. After charging nothing worked anymore!! I can get boot loader (ISPL 1.09.0001 SPL 1.09.0001) and thats it. I have tried every possible way appart from gold card to reinstall a rom but always have either error 240,264,300 take your pick its different every time. I am running vista 32 (Prophet tools vista driver ). Please help with some suggestions or guidance how I can restore it..
Ps Active sync or even widows mobile device centre doesnt recognise it though if I go into Properties/Device Manager it comes up as a HTC Mobile device
Many thanks
You need to flash your original carrier ROM. Go into bootloader, hook up your phone via USB and flash it. Then you should have an updated IPL/SPL of 4.xx.xxxx, after which you can then apply HardSPL and flash another custom ROM if you like.
1. This is NOT a ROM Development thread. I moved it. Please post in the correct sectio next time.
2. It has been covered many times.
3. You flashed using USPL or HardSPL but your SPL is below 4.0 They're both incompatible with your SPL.
4. Your only fix will be a gold card. Search for it and you will find detailed instructions on how to fix it.
Moved?
Where did you move my thread to please?
It was moved here.
