Using the WiFi on the prophet, is it possible for me to listen to music from my computer's hard drive via the Prophet from another room?
Yes quite simply using standard windows shares. I set up a favorite in MortPlayer.
Anither option would be to install uPNP server software on your PC, something like Microsoft's Media connect and then get a uPNP player on the PPC. I think Nero Showtime Mobile supports uPNP and is currently free.

Or even better - try RescoRadio. This is an amasing program.
Windows Media Encoder
Hi,
I found that the easiest way to do this is to install Windows Media Encoder 9 Series from Microsoft. You can set up your own broadcasting station with that. Install, choose content to stream, set desired compression, and voila, you'll be broadcasting to the whole world if you want to.

AbuYahya,
Are you sure you have the correct path from your WMP10 on your mobile? From WMP10, open URL and Put in your ip/local pc path and then add /live at the end as that is the default for WME9 broadcasting name.
Cheers...
re:WME
thanks it works with the suffix of "/live"
thanks again
What settings do you need in WE9 as everytime I try to connect to the stream I get a cannot play the format error. I am streaming MP3 files. Can't seem to get this to work at all with WMP10 Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.
I use MediaMonkey with the Oddcast plugin going to an Icecast server. Foobar2000 is the best PC client and, of course, Mortplayer on Windows Mobile devices. There does seem to be a problem with Mortplayer if you stream in .ogg but .mp3 works perfectly. All free software too!

Map networked drive?

Is there anyway to map a networked drive on a local network?
I was hoping I could connect to my home wifi and then stream videos from a shared drive on a PC.
Any way this is possible?
There is a SMB File Sharing app in the market. I never used it but it should work.
have you looked into gmote or aFile?
I was searching for the same thing a while back. What I finally did was download Gmote on my phone and Gmote server for my home computer. I set it up to allow me to connect to a Media folder over the 3G network (I'm with Sprint). I had to forward the port on my router at home and add an exception to my firewall. I also had to get a static IP for my router by using No-IP.
Once all that was done I could open gmote on my phone, pick my media folder on my home computer and start streaming my mp3s. Since it's over the 3G network I can be anywhere! The sound quality is great as well and I like the simple VLC player. My only complaint is that I wish the player would show album art in the background instead of just in the lower corner. I think it will do that over wifi but not 3g.
It takes a little bit of setup but the results are well worth it!

I'm seeing that it copies file... but is there a way to stream?
I'll test it out when I get home.

This sounds awesome. Luckily, I have a couple of servers running on the PC already so I just need to configure the software.
Will it work for videos?
If you are just streaming Media, try out ORB. Its cool, download a server app on the home computer, it scans for all your media then login to the website and pick your song that you want to play or video, what ever. Ironically i just posted this on another thread too....

I haven't had much luck but, then again, I only tried one video.
Can't get remote desktop to work... I guess I need to check the settings. I'll go home and set up both servers and test both apps out. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Streaming Video Not Working in HTC HD2

Hi,
Can someone please help me with the following 2 concerns with my HTC HD2:
1. Unable to create folders for SMS/e-mail. The phone has the new HTC Messaging system which does not allow folders to be created. Need a Fix!
2. Unable to view streaming videos on the phone.
In Internet Explorer the Windows Media Player does appear but the video does not play.
In Opera think its Opera Mobile 9.7 the window does not even show the media player.
Request you to please help me with these concerns.
Thanks!
1 - search for how to disable htc messaging and go back to using windows mobile messaging instead.
2 - what you trying to stream? example please ?
How can you disable that, SMS/MMS will not work is what has been published by ppl.
Any weblink that plays live video, does not work.
not by people on this forum. anyway if it stops working just re enable it, but I bet it doesnt stop working.... go on....bet ya..... hehe
i have problem with streaming media too, it doesn't work. i tried to use rtsp streaming media links but it doesn't work at all. if anyone knows how to use it, it will be very appriciative.
Ps sorry for bad english
For streaming video:
If you are connected to a wireless network, (especially if it is one owned by your work), turn off wi-fi and try through the provider network. Many work networks block streaming media to preserve bandwidth.

media player from nas server ??

Is there a program i can install on my hd2 that will allow me to play videos accross my wireless network from my NAS server ??..none of the media players seem to let me browse over the wifi to my home network.
tcmp media player, htc network plugin and resco file explorer. Map the network drive using resco and then browse to the mapped drive using TCMP. I use it all the time. Nothing like having fingertip access to 3TB of media from my handheld at home. Works really well buffers almost instantly and plays most type of videos. My next project is trying to get Hamachi mobile beta working in tandem with this so I can have full access to my 50gb music collection while in the gym. I will let you know if i suceed!
Yeah do that !...i got a popcorn hour c-200 hanging off my nas server...i feel like good...me and my iphone split up...i have not had sex with my HD2 yet

[Q] Stream music from PC to phone?

What's the best way to do this?
I was reading into uPNP. I got a uPNP plugin for foobar2000, and got it working for streaming stuff to my phone over the local WiFi network.
I tried to use PlugPlayer on Android to do this over the internet, couldn't get it to work though.
Does Winamp for Android do this? It says you can wirelessly sync with your PC, but that sounds like it downloads all your music to the phone, I just want to use my phone to browse a list of music on my PC at home, and stream whichever one I pick to the phone.
I'd like to be able to choose the bitrate I stream at also, the foobar2000 uPNP plugin has very good options here, I just need to find an Android app to play it
Hi, have u looked at audiogalaxy, im using that, sounds exactly what u need.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
