I thought Opera Mini is a Java application, you first need to open java, then install from the menu, within Java, then you can run it.

Guys, if you don't want to install additional software, you can add your PPC as a device to RealPlayer and sync Real files to play on WM10.
When I try to install it Im getting a message...
Realoneplayerppc is not a valid pocket pc applicatiopn

'cause you're supposed to run that file on your desktop not the phone.
I installed Real player through AS 4.1 with no problems. Great for bbc radio broadcasts.
I got it installed and it wont play the file! Ah well. Do I need to convert it somehow?
On the BBC radio site where is has a link that says listen using stand alone real player, right click and copy that link to your wizard. Clicking on that file should open real player and begin to play your broadcast.
Will it not play videos though? I want it to play my south park vids
RealPlayer Link
Here is the link to download the CAB file so you can install Realplayer on your WM5 device without activesync.
http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=7160593
Copy the file to your Pocket PC and click on it to install.
CAB files within the exe file
If you start to use the realplayer executable file while connected through Activesync but do not complete the install process ie while the install screen is still open go to
START/RUN and type %TMP%
This will open the install directory. Look for a sub dir call ~rmsetup. Within that sub directory you will find the REALPLAYER.CAB file you need. Just copy into your temp directory on wizard and run as usual. It works for both the basic Realplayer and Realplayer with video beta downloadable from their site.
Hope I've explained it clearly enough.
There is also an explanation of how to make the exe file work with activesysnc on the Realplayer forum but I found the above solutions easier.

Ive got it installed but cant play my South Park rm files? Will it only play upto a certain version or something? Any patches available?

Problem installing opera mini

I have read good things about the speed of this basic browser on this forum so decided to install it. I have tried downloading the files directly to my XDA mini s and via my pc but I cannot manage to install. The midlet manager opens, tries to connect to the internet but fails everytime.
Do I need something else to install the .jad and .jar files?

Nope, you only need the JAR file, not even the JAD.
Upon the first start, it'll ask you premission for accessing the Net. What did you answer?

Opera Mini & Tao Java Midlet Manager

Recently installed Schap's 3.60 ROM on my AT&T8525. I also installed Tao's Java Midlet Manager. I then downloaded the .jad file for Opera mini. I ran it, it asks if I want to install this Midlet. I click yes, it runs through the progress bar and installs. Mini is now in my Midlet manager. However, when I click on Mini, it simply says Failed to run the Midlet.
I attempted to search the forums, but with it using google, it comes up with super old threads about past versions of mini/java. I'm sure this problem has been asked before. If someone could point me to an applicable thread, I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks!
Try Esmertec Jbed here:

Opera Mini 4.1

Hey. I was trying to download the new Opera Mini 4.1 version. When you go to download the software it asks what phone you have, neither the Wing or Herald is a choice. There is a link to hit if your phone isn't listed and it gives you two options to download.. "Basic MIDP 1" or "Advanced MIDP 2." Which one should I select for use with the Wing?
Thanks.
You need to have Java esmertec to run Opera mini. Go ahead and grab the advanced. There is a hack that will allow it to stop asking it if can connect to the net each time u boot it. Love this app on my titan.

MIDlet with JSR-75 [Opera Mini file downloads]

Hi -- I'm trying to get Opera Mini 4.2 to handle downloading files without calling an external browser. The Java MIDlet manager that comes with the HTC P6500 ROM doesn't support JSR-75, and thus has to call another browser to handle file downloads. Does anyone know of a way around this? Is there another MIDlet manager out there I can download and install that would let Opera Mini handle its own downloads?
Thanks!
Alan
