Just wondering..
According to www.Phonearena.com the HTC X7500 Advantage DOESNT support video streaming.
Forgive me if i am mistaken, but does that mean i can take a video with the Advantage, but as soon as i have done so, i cant play it back on the actual X7500 itself?
If thats the case, it sucks!! Kinda stupid.
Anyway around it? Clarification?
(read about what streaming is here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_media)
Thanks Rudegar)
You are mistaken. Playing videos works fine.
Streaming means downloading and playing at the same time from the internet which, certainly in some circumstances, does work. Although T-Mobiles tv service doesn't seem to work.
The info is certainly incorrect. This device can do that without problem at all. Any problem is likely to come from other sources.
Thanks
Ok Cool. Thanks guys. Just satisfying my paranoia!

Is it possible to stream video via an XDA Mini S?
I want to link up my video camera to my xda and stream video from a moving vehicle to the web (about 20 minutes). Am I just fantasising or is it feasible ? I can link the xda and the camera by some sort of usb cable, but I also have bluetooth on the camera (not very likely for video though).
TIA, DBo.
this might be possable via WiFi but i doubt GPRS or Edge would support speeds that would give u any decent results. that is if u can figure out how to input the vid stream into the wizzard. and would love to know if u find out how!
Over a super slow GPRS uplink? I doubt it some how!
Even if it was posible, which it may techically well be, the quality would have to be so amazingly low quality it would be pointless.

Try Orb, quite ok results

Thanks for the input. I don't think I've got any chance of a 'truly' mobile solution (although it would be great). I think I'd end up with a wireless sender from the camera in the car to a trackside server with a wifi uplink. Oh well, it was a nice idea. maybe if I had a 3G phone ? I could strap it on to the rollbar and start a video call. Hmmm...
Hi all,
I'm a massive fan of this site and tell anyone who has a HTC device to check it out. This is my first post though so here goes.
I have an XP laptop on which I watch movies mostly as avi's. I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 which won't work on my laptop as it doesn't have A2DP. What I would therefore like to do is to watch the movie on my laptop and stream the audio portion over my wifi network to my Jasjar so I can listen to it through my headset.
Is this possible? If so how?
I will point out at this point that, while I'm not a complete muppet, I have never had anything to do with streaming of anysort so a tutorial might be useful. I have tried to figure it out using bits taken from several threads on this, and other, forums but so far with no luck. Ok so maybe I'm more muppety than I thought I was.
Yes I do know I could get some wireless headphones with a base that plugs into my laptop and do it that way, but where's the fun in that?
Any help gratefully recieved.

So what do you have to do to get a reply around here. Always seems easy for others. They ask a question and somebody answers. Guess nobody has an answer. Now thats really diassapointing.
i think response problem is a combination of 2 things: you have a really rare question (i didn't search, but from the looks of it it is), and you didn't wait long enough for that kind of question.
I don't know what type of bluetooth services the uni supports to other devices other than serial.
Apologies
Thanks for te reply skywriter and sorry for rushing people. I didn't realise what I was asking was so hard. I just thought it was me being stupid. Well if anyone does have an answer I would be happy to ear it.
I heard the slingbox doesnt lag at all if you are on dcd 2.2.0, but i got a quick question about the remote? I have yet to get my slingbox its in the mail but i was wondering this.....Ive read around and searched that i need to download a certain bin file for IR to be able to communicate with my satellite box. Now heres the question, once i have my slingbox... i plan on loading up the slingbox ppc software and streaming via my ppc. Will all the remote functions appear in the ppc applications(since i loaded that bin to the actual singbox) or do i need to install a remote file on my mogul also?
I am using slingbox on my mogul. The ppc software takes settings from the desktop version. You will need to load a special bin into your slingbox subdirectory. The bin file I have doesn't give full functionality but gives enough for most common tasks. No Red Green Blue or yellow function keys but guide and single number key entry works. There is software to modify the bin but I have found it is very usable in its present form. Hope this helps you on your quest.
do you use it on a satellite box? if so what kind

FYI, My slingbox still works like crap, even on the new rom. It works, but not great. Sound still lags, and picture still choppy, even with a strong signal on my Mogul.
It is what it is......., I guess they will never fix it,
thats weird i hear some people sayng it works great, then some people say it sux,
what rom are you on?

Well, I just went and checked, and it looks like I am on dcd 2.1.0, not the 2.2.0.
I will have to flash the 2.2.0, and then re-check. I just don't have much faith it will fix it though.
I bought my slingbox, and the mogul, the same week, after seeing the htc6700 and the slingbox work perfectly. I never expected a newer phone, to be a downgrade.
I just keep hoping that it will all get sorted out, but it has been months, and I do not see much talk about it.
The whole thing(mogul & slingbox) has been a really huge disappointment for me. However, the slingbox works great slinging TV to my desktop computer, from the front room.
unless htc fixed the video codec/directdraw files no rom is going to fix the problems with slingbox. the same problems still exist no mater what rom you run.

Yea, that is pretty much what I have read as well. That's why I have little hope for it. Still, I am flashing the new dcd 2.2.1 rom now, just for the fun of it.
Slingbox
i love mine never had a problem with it even before i updated to the new rom..
Mine works great
I have direct tv (diret tv HD-DVR) and slingbox classic. I just install the slingbox application each time I upgrade and I have no issues. Don't need to install any ir cab file that you are talking about either? Mine works perfectly from base install off slingmedia website from my phone and everything is very smooth. I'm on DCD's latest 2.2.3.

Mine works perfectly!
I am using my mogul (3.26 rom) with my slingbox classic connected to dish network and I have no problems. When I am in EV coverage or use wifi I get an absolutley perfect picture. No lag and very few studders (less that 1 per 5 minutes). In 1x coverage it is viewable, although a little grainy. When I am traveling I often put on history channel or espn in audio only mode and I seldom have a drop, even in the boonies.
Due to the fact that it works well for MANY users, I think most peoples problems are due to upload speed on their home network. I get about 700k up. A friend of mine with an identical setup but only around 200k up often has a much poorer picture and lots of studdering.
BTW, I was using 2.09 until 3.16 came out and it worked just as well.
Jim
I too agree it may be an upload issue. I have comcast. When I was with T-Mobile even with their 2.5G EDGE service my slingbox was slinging fine. However with Sprint and their Rev. 0 and A, my slingbox attempts to fill the bandwidth which is way more than my comcast upload of 350K. I hope comcast isn't throttling it down.
It always streams perfectly for like the first 10 mins then all of a sudden framerate and buffering go into overdrive.
Also, another reason I suspect its my home upload is also because I stream internet TV and youtube videos and have never experienced buffering on the sprint network.
Oh! Well!
You will have to download the ppc software directly to y ou main memory. You do have to purchase the registration key. Not right away, but in 30 days. Sucks but worth it.
Kaiser Video Driver Bounty - ~$6930.78 Raised As Of Jan26

To: HTC Corporation
To whom it may concern,
The lack of ATI Imageon hardware driver support and the 7200 chipset driver support on the TYTN II is obvious. The TYTN II, which claims to be superior to most all current devices on the market, is lacking serious driver and hardware support when it comes to Video playback. In fact, anything that has to do with Direct Draw, Direct X and any fluid movement of pixels on the screen seems behave in an unacceptably slow manner.
Even the camera application that comes with the device slows down to such a slow frame rate that photos are not able to be captured, and cause videos to record and render slower than a sideshow. Videos captured from a third party source render faster on devices over 3 years older using slower technology.
There are many TYTN II owners experiencing the same exact results that have been briefly explained above. The lack of speed in rendering video or 3D content on the TYTN II seems to be a direct result of poorly coded and even missing driver support. If HTC is unable or unwilling to resolve this issue, please prove a full fledge SDK release so that phone owners can repair what HTC was unwilling or unable to do.
Thank You,
All TytnII/ATT Tilt/T Mobile MDA Vario III owners.
Sorry for the delay in posting....I have a sonicview sv8000. Using mogul I have zero problems that others state. Also am using slingbox hd adapter. Love the unlimited data plan (sero) on sprint and my slingbox. Very watchable and no lag.
Ok, I have been googling both here and in general and cannot find the solution to my search. There are plenty of places to watch old TV episodes on my PC at home, such as surfthechannel.com, but I can't seem to find the same thing for mobile phones like ours. Anyone know of a good website that has old TV episodes that can be streamed over the data connection to our phones? I was almost all caught up with Dr Who and wanted to get in some additional watching while at work.
Download Skyfire browser and watch your shows on that site. Should work.
http://www.skyfire.com/
I agree...use Skyfire. I tried nearly every single shareware and freeware program that is supposed to let you watch TV and they all had major problems. The biggest issue is that Media Player cannot handle most of the video streams. I even tried Coreplayer and it busted out on most of the streams.
Regards,
Devin
seems to be working fine. Thanks. It was agrivating using IE and having it give me a mobile version rather than let me actually get to the video content like I wanted.
Update: I found the issue and the fix to no audio. In advanced settings make sure you don't have hint for mobil checked. Once you have made that correction do a soft reset and you should have audio. I have not gotten on surfthechannel yet to confirm if it fixes it there or not. Will update later today when I try that sight.

does your volume work on surfthechannel.com? i can't seem to get it to work... hmmf! the video seems alright, but useless without sound! i am addicted to house! =)
actually I didn't try it there yet. I was watching chuck on NBC.com yesterday. I will try out a Dr Who episode later today to see if sound works or not.
Make sure your audio is not muted (here will be a checkmark if it is muted). In Skyfire go to Menu -> Actions -> Mute Audio
actually it seems that today I am getting no audio either. Nothing is muted. I did a soft reset last night. I usually do to make sure the GPS is not running any more and since then it is not playing sound.
thank you necromis and segadc....but I beg you both to forgive my stupidity! lol =) I actually figured it out last night... it seems that my audio was muted thru the actions menu....hmmmmmf, go figure that would produce no sound!!! lol *blushing*
well I had put an update on here earlier but it didn't stick so I am posting it in a new message. I found the fix on here earlier for the audio, besides the obvious one you found. LOL It seems that if in the advance settings you have hint for mobile checked it won't sync sound. So make sure that is also unchecked and do a soft reset afterwards. Also the audio server is not always functioning or connected to properly. You can try to exit and reload skyfire to resolve it and hook up with the audio server properly that way.
Hey guys, I'm trying to see if anyone else is experiencing this on the HD2 w WP7.
When I click on a video link on YouTube website, the video player loads up. However, the video quality always play in the lowest quality, never in HQ. I tried it on multiple videos, that I know can be scaled to be viewed up to 1080p (I'm aware that the phone can't play this though). But it still plays them in the worst quality, never HQ.
I also tried this test under my regular t-mobile data connection (HSDPA), and using WiFi.
I know that with WM6, and Android, clicking a YouTube link from the website, opens up its respective players, but you have the option, (at least in Android) to bump it up to high quality, in the settings (if data connections is fast enough).
It just bugs the heck outta me, because I use it to "get away" during my short lunch break at work, to either watch some videos, or short tv shows, its frustrating to watch video that looks like it was intended for a Razr phone screen on the HD2, and can't do anything to fix it.
So let me know, if its something that I need to do, or if everyone else is experiencing the same thing.
Thanks Guys
Eddie.
For me it depends on the speed of my connection. 3g bad, wifi great. Youtube over 3g under wm6.5 was awesome so it sucks that it's so bad under wp7.
Quality in the youtube app from HTC is good even over 3g.
