orange extended rom
Hi Guys
Can any body supply me with a extended rom from the the new uk orange rom...............PLEASE
I don't know if I can help, but if I can I'll happily do so.
I have an ORange SPV M1000, and have used the Extended Rom unlock tool (available in these forums to unlock my extended rom).
If what you are looking for is a copy of all the files in there, then let me know and I'll zip them and post them into this thread.
I have the latest version of the Orange Rom - but it is the one without the MMS capabilities (both are available for download from Orange's website)
Anyway if its any help let me know.
Cheers
hi siezear
that would be great--------cheers
copy of extended rom from Orange SPV M1000
As requested, please find attached the contents of the ORange Extended rom.
I have downloaded the ROM that includes the MMS capabilities from the website and tried using the Windows Mobile ROM editor (available from this forum) to edit its content - but the default passwords don't seem to work, if anyone knows what passwords to try for Orange ROMs, let me know and I'll post that version here too,
otherwise if I ever hard-reset by mistake then I'll install that into the PPC and use the extrom tools to unlock it and post it.
Cheers
With ER2003Edit you have to
1. Select the correct ROM type when opening the ROM file
2. Enter the correct password manually:
OS ROM
NK.nbf 0x20040304
Extended ROM
ms_.nbf 0x20040305
Radio ROM
radio_.nbf 0x20040306
Keep in mind that when you want to change an Extended ROM file to be able to use it during an upgrade procedure, you also need to update the checksum (using xda2nbftool)
Thanks edsub,
I have copied the files out of the extended rom - though the program gave numerous errors (Object variable or with block variable not set)
Here is the version of the Orange rom which includes the MMS.
Cheers all,
I have a
Dopod 818 Pro, and i would like to upgrade it using imate JAMIN's ROM.
does this void my orignal dopod warranty ? and if yes how do i overcome it ?
can someone please provide me with the steps needed to upgrade.
thanks
Don't know about the warranty but you could always resume back your original Dopod ROM if you have done a ROM backup before upgrading to a new ROM.
There is a Thai website that describes how to backup your original ROM and to upgrade to Imate JAMin ROM. Unfortunately, it's in Thai language but the pictures may help.
http://www.pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=52433&PN=1
The most important part is at the end of the post and this is in English:
Steps to Up Rom:
1. Unlock CID (follow this link)
2. Backup original 818Pro Rom (follow the link to backup ROM to SD)
3. Enter Boot Loader (follow this link)
4. Run file JAMin_WWE_1000925_10009114_11420_ship.exe then Next, and next until finish.
Hope this helps.
thanks it worked
i used awizard to backup my rom instead
then ran the exe file and it upgraded with no problems at all
but one concern, there are pre-installed apps there that cannot be run, i get an error message saying "can not run on this device", does this mean i need a genuine imate to run it on ? , anyone knows how to fix this ?
I didn't see that problem when I ran the ROM update last week.
i used the arabic rom version, it comes with 7 apps for arabic
maybe it only works for imate, not the dopod

@Khuanchai
I'm also trying to switch my Chinese system to English. So I tried the Jamin version but no success since i think i'm missing a lot of info for the right process.
I went to the Thai website you mention but I don't get a word of it...!
The short english version you give doesn't have active links so not enough information for me (its all pretty new for me...)
Any help welcome. Thanks !
Please try again:
1. Unlock CID: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
2. Backup original 818Pro Rom: http://www.pdamobiz.com/show_news.asp?NewsID=47377
3. Enter Boot Loader: press Camera + Reset, hold camera button until you see 3-colors bands on the dopod screen
4. Run file JAMin_WWE_1000925_10009114_11420_ship.exe then Next, and next until finish.
Good luck!
Khuanchai,
I understand that flashing the Dopod 818 Pro with IMate's rom will overwrite the extended rom with IMate's version. Does following the procedures to backup the Dopod rom to sd card and then restoring from it restore Dopod's extended rom back into the unit as well?

Yes, but with the procedures described in that link, you will have the whole ROM backup. If you use that backup file to restore ROM, it will restore everything back not only the Extended_rom. However, you can backup each part of the ROM separately, for examples, use os option to backup OS ROM only, use gsm option to backup radio ROM only, or use extrom option to backup Extended_rom only. You will then have separate ROM backup files and you can restore back any part separately.
So how did it work?
What were your thoughts on performance, stability?
no that much speed difference
I used aWizard to backup the ROM of my Wizard Model 100 (Vodafone VPA compact II). After playing around with another ROM, I now want to go back to the original Vodafone ROM. Using aWizard again, I was able to restore the main ROM into the device, but it seems like it did not restore the extended ROM. The main ROM is working normally, but the Vodafone customizations didn't start after hard reset. I unlocked the extended ROM and can now see that it contains no files. Unfortunately, it is also write protected, so I cannot copy the extended ROM files manually.
How can I get the extended ROM files back into the device? I know that I could simply copy the files somewhere else and run it manually, but I'd like to restore the original state.
From my research, it seems to be a specific problem about the VPA compact II that even if you can unlock (i.e. "make visible") the extended ROM, it will still remain write protected...
Just think.
Maybe you should firstly refresh your rom with an older version like 1.5.x.x or sth. that would make the ext-rom visable & rewritable. than after you copy all that .cab files as you need, use aWizard to just upload the newer rom (at this case should be 2.17.x.x).
Never try this, if succeed pls let me know...
yeah this works this is what i have done to change the splash screen several times...on several units as well.....
Hello
As i was having some peculiar problems with existing ROM Version, I reverted back to Orignal O2 Asia ROM.
Reverting back went successful. I saw that after reverting back I stopped at Setup will start in 3 seconds and i restarted the O2 to get the extended rom details. I copied all the files on my Laptop and then I used the first 416 Bytes and copied in the new extended ROM downloaded. After complete activity, i found that i am not able to boot the O2, SO I reverted back with the Orignal O2 Asia ROM. Still i am not able to see the Storage
Something which i think i did wrong:Orig O2 Asia ROM having files
ROM:1.12.00 WWE
ROM date 05/28/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol:1337.42
ExtROM Version:1.12.550 WWE
Big Storage ROM File which i used for insert 416 bytes was downloaded from ftp site which was BigStorage_ROMs_WWE_1.13.00.zip
What went wrong?
Why i am not able to see the storage part?
HOw should I recover back the storage containing extended ROM part?
Please Help
Also, which is the best stable ROM with exact file path and also the extended ROM file with Big Storage.
Incase you have some files which you would like to share pls mail me on [email protected]
Thanks
Manmohan
Hey all, i just got a tmo mda... im rather newb but learning. i just installed to 2.26 rom and i want to backup the rom before flashing to new stuff. would it better to revert back to the 1.8 rom the mda came with and back that up (and how por favor), or just do a hard reset and back up the 2.26 rom.
thanks in advance yall 8)
newb needs help
If you've installed your 2.26 rom then you've got your backup already on your desktop (the RUU-file).
Your ppc will reboot with installed 2.26 rom after hard reset and there is no 1.8 anymore. If you want it back you've got to download it!
If you install new programs it won't be installed in the rom but in another part of your memory.
The rom is a closed part with i.e. wm5 embedded.
If you want to know what's in there, you've got to use i.e. "total commander" and watch for the IC-icons in windows.
Then there's also the extended rom. Herein you find the operater files i.e. T-mobile-plugins like background picture, sounds and several network settings. These you can find by fill-in the directory command line (in total commander) 'extended_rom'. These files also will be installed automatically after hard reset.
You can overrule these installation by pressing soft reset (after screen alignment) while installing after hard reset, but as a newbe better to stay off that path for now.

yes well, thats all well and good. im not that noobish lol
my question is whether its better to back up the tmo 1.8 ROM which came with the wizard, or to back up the 2.26 ROM which i upgraded to onto a 128mb minisd card?
or is this a moot point?
