Hi
I have all my songs on my storage card. I can play them fine directly from the storage card, going through the file explorer.
However they dont work when in windows media and using the playlists, even though I can see them all. I get the error message "Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the player does not support the format you are trying to play"
Any ideas??

I've given up on Windows Media and now use TCPMP for playing my audio files. One of the main reasons I dislike Windows Media is because it's such a pain to create playlists. It seems like they went out of their way to make it difficult. TCPMP let's you create playlists on the device very easily. My audio files are a mix of mp3s and .wma files and it plays them all just fine.
TCPMP also plays lots of other media types, but that's all I'm using it for at this point.
And it's free! (Though you can give a donation if you find it useful )
You can also try WinamPAQ v1.0 Beta[/url]. Also free, if you used Winamp on the PC before, this is a fine copy. Works great also.

Hi im new here and this is my first post.
When i first tried to upload songs into my library from the Storage card, it worked fine, but now im not having the same luck.
After i begin to update my library it detects all the mp3 on the storage card but then when its adding them to the library it stops about half way and just lags for about a minute or 2. Then when it says done, the mp3 have not been uploaded at all. I've tried several times but with the same results.
It seems like the only way i can play the mp3's from the storage device in windows media player is my individually selecting the files and playing them one at time
Is there someway to fix this problem?
Is there another mp3 player that can be added to the TYTN?
Is there another way to play mp3's from your storage device without adding them to your library?

This is a standard WM5 problem.
Find MSmetadata folder on storage card - DELETE it (need file explorer set to show all files - hidden files)
Should find it works better now. Reconstruct library.

I have been happily using a 4gb card in my Trinity for the last month, storing most of my program files and all my music on the card.
I just had to resetup my Trinity. I deleted all the program files but left the music on the card alone.
Windows Media Plaey now no longer sees the card and wont update the library from it. it seems to count the music files when searching, just doesnt add them.
There are no software conflicts, i am using the same software as before this fault happened, you can still play individual media files from the card by opening the file from file explorer or media player.
Anyone any ideas please??
i have had the same happen to me, the only way to play music is to go into file finder and play it from there....its bloody annoying
Try deleting the MSMETADATA and WMDRM folders from the storage card, they're hidden folders. Then try and update the library again.

I have a 2 GB storage card that is only 9% full, my program memory has 20MB free and my phone storage is 22MB.. when i copy the song to the main memory, windows media player plays the song without a hitch. any suggestions?

I am recieving the same error on my Windows Mobile phone (VW 6800, DCD 3.04, WM 6.1)
I also have a 2 GB storage card, I have MP3's at various bitrates and get the same error. I have tried a soft-reset, have 27 MB of free ram, and I still get this error.
When I use coreplayer, I can play the music without issue.
Anyone have any ideas?

This usually means that your system (Wing)is trying to allocate more memory than is available on your device.
Now yes you may have a 2gig mem card and your Program memory may have 20MB free but if you have too many running programs and you try to load an Mp3/Wav file, your system is trying to actually load more memory than you actually have, thus giving you an error! Try to stop some of the running programs on your phone and est out the Mp3, if it works then we found the issue, if not then let me know so I can try and come up with any other possible solutions.
I'm having the same problem.
i tried closing all programs, and using Oxios to free up more RAM. didn't work. i have an 8GB SD Card.
what does "est out the Mp3" mean?
Have you guys tried using another media player, like TCPMP? It works better with MP3s for me.

I get this with some files, too. It's not a memory problem--19 MB free program memory and 60 MB free program memory plus gigabytes of flash, only the programs involved running. I'm using Windows Media Player 10 on Windows Mobile 6 Pro. I've got a dictionary that links to audio pronunciation files via "file:\\" style internal URLs. Tap the link, an IE window pops up, then Windows Media Player, and then the file starts playing in WMP. The handoff doesn't work with TCPMP, Core Player, or any other media player I've tried except WMP (they can't interpret the path to the file properly, no matter how I adjust the registry). So I have to use WMP. Each file is about 8 kb or smaller, and there are thousands of them. 98% work perfectly, but 2% cause this error message to pop up a few seconds into the clip. Files that work always work, and files that bring up the error always bring up the error. So the problem IS in the mp3 files themselves. The busted files work on other media players (if accessed directly--as stated, though, links from the dictionary work only in WMP). File verification programs (e.g., checkfile, the verification function in foobar) find nothing wrong, but when I back up files with Retrospect Express HD, SOME of the broken files (but not all of them) show up in the .dat log of the backup as "doesn't compare." Only the files with the problem show up that way.
I hope that's enough info. My implementation may be different but it seems like the same problem, so if someone can help me it should help the OP as well. Please let me know if you need more info.
Try this:
With WMP closed, in File Explorer, go to:
\Storage Card\MSMETADATA\
Delete the file: XMEMediaLibrary.mlb
Re-sync with WMP on the desktop to rebuild the XMEMediaLibrary.mlb file. That fixed it for me.

I have a 4GB card and about 500 MP3s & WMA on it and have never had that problem. I think the closing other programs would help. Some times I get that when I am playing music and try to launch my camera. That annoys me the most. Especially when I there is a perfect picture opportunity and I have to restart my phone. Sorry for going off the subject but that urks me.
I've been using windows media player for a while. Recently, I got the HTC audio manager today screen plugin. Now windows media player won't play any songs on my device and won't even find my micro SD card. I've already tried uninstalling the today plugin but windows media player still isn't working.
Is there any way to fix this?
Try deleting the MSMETADATA and WMRDM folders and the wmp*.xml files. Found this info on another forum and it fixed the problem for me.
