Hello... I have a WM6 based device, i have installed the WM6VOIP.cab file in one of your threads, and it work perfectly on Wifi and it almost works over 3G!
I have everything configured as taught in the other thread, but when i´m in a GPRS connection, and i have my internet calling selected at the Today Screen, i call my self to a phone right next to me in order to test the connection, and although it rings perfectly, when i pick up the other phone, i can´t hear anything neither on the phone i´m calling nor on the cellphone i´m calling from...
I have tryed with the following Operators: Yoigo, Vodafone
Is there any reason for this to happen? Do they block the sound over their network?
Is there any way to solve that?
Thank you Very much!
Ricardo

What provider are you using?
Provider: Vodafone and Yoigo
I´m Using Vodafone and i´ve tried with Yoigo too... Neither of them work... I think Yoigo uses Vodafone 3G Band for their network... Any clues?

Hi and apologies I have already asked a similar question already, however. I need to confirm that the JasJar will work with 3G data AND video calling on Vodafone.
I beleive that 3G data works OK, but has anyone got the video calling working on vodafone ?????
Cheers, Numb
I have two Dopod 810 running on Optus network. One running windows5, the other windows6 Dopod release. BOTH phones have the same problem of repeatedly disconnecting the phone call if the phone settings are
Network …… Auto
GSM/UMTS ..Auto
So to correct the problem Optus told me to change the the settings too
Network ……GSM
GSM/UMTS ..GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(2100)
This would stop the drop out, but I now don’t have 3g network, hence no MMS, video conferencing, web access is at dialup speed.
I had the Optus service department take both phones and they found they could not replicate the problems, installed the windows 6 pro upgrade on them and sent them back. Guess what, I still have the same connection problems. Put the phone settings back to the second settings above and have a phone back, but none of the 3g.
Any ideas why and what I can do? The only thing I can think of is to get Optus to replace the sim cards and see if that helps?
Ohh and this has been a problem since the phones were new.
I have the same problem too in indonesia Telkomsel network.
a incoming and outgoing call always drop or disconnected. and really difficult to setup a call. and very often my voice couldnt be heard.
anyone can help me?this is network failure or handset failure?
thx in advance
Hey all,
As far as I understand; when you are on GPRS you can't make a call or receive because it ties up the line.
Does the same apply with EDGE? I don't think it does with 3G but my network just went EDGE over GPRS (o2) so I wondered about the 'new' technology.
Thanks for the advice
it dont apply to any of them unless thats a limit of the phone company one is connected because they have limited equipment

I always thought it did; I used to be Vodafone UK; I started on one of there GPRS phones & couldn't attempt or rec calls, I then moved up to 3G, again on Vodafone & I could run 2 sessions of them easy. It would't be to do with the 3G networks having there own network settings? for example, the 3G phone would give me the option to connect to 2G or 3G when I first turn it on or change networks.
i use GPRS it dont block anything for me
only tech which really block 100% is the old callup modem data calls
which also only operate at something like 9600Boud
GPRS Data Call
Hello, i´ve been trying to find an answer to a problem while calling through GPRS with VoIP using WM6VoIP.cab released here in xda-developers. I can make the call, it rings in the other side, but no sound for either users... There is no sound at all, like if the phone was off. On the other hand, i use the same system to call while connected to a WiFi Lan, and it works perfectly! What could be happenning to me? I use Vodafone, and i´ve also tried it with Yoigo which uses Vodafone network...
I´d really appreciate your help!

GPRS and EDGE are basically the same thing with respect to blocking voice calls.
Old GPRS implementations (can't remember which class - wikipedia is your friend) would block incoming calls - but newer implementations shouldn't. The only thing is when you have active calls, GPRS is suspended.
But I heard that the radio firmwares and equipment of the telco would make a difference.
When I had my Treo 750, I always had a GPRS connection. If there was any data activity going on, incoming calls would go to voicemail. Very irritating, especially when using Direct Push for email.
With my old Blackberry Pearl, and my new Tilt, I always have an EDGE connection, and do not have the issue.
Hope this helps...
I have found problems while making VOIP calls using SIP (soft phone) software on t-mobile, UK 3g network.
I got various sip client installed my HTC HD2. They all are working very well on wifi connection. But not working at all on t-mobile UK 3g network. I get registration failed error.
I found following link (https://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/terms-and-conditions/combi/) in which they have mentioned that
<b>
"you can't use your phone as a modem or use internet Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *[Internet] Plus comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month."</b>
So I am wondering whether T-mobile is blocking my access to connect to my VOIP provider. Although, I can use skype mobile on t-mobile 3g network to make skype to skype calls.
Guys,
Is there anyone who is able to make VOIP call using t-mobile, uk 3g network or any of the other UK provider? If yes, then please help me to figure out what’s wrong in my settings.
Thanks.
As many people have found on T-Mobile for various data connection problems, , try this
settings/menu/connections/manage existing connections/proxy settings tab/remove the tick in the "this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" box.

Already tried this, but no success. So wondering is it possible in UK to make VOIP calls using any 3g network.
Guys Please post your VOIP call experience on UK 3g providers.
You could try getting VPN to work?
It is true that indeed some providers do block certain ports/protocols to enforce their terms of use.
Vodafone NL started with this too some time ago..

I don't use it much but I've had no problems using Skype on 3UK.
I'm with T-Mobile UK and can use Skype without problem on HD2
Vodafone NL blocked some ports

Hi there,
I have also noticed that Vodafone NL has blocked some ports such as for Rapidshare and Megaupload !
Is there a work around for this?
Thanks

hi
I have tried many times with Softphone 3.0 and it does not work. My mate has swapped the sim card into his iphone and with o2 it registered without problems. it seems tmobile is blocking port 5060 for sip connecitions.
Fring somehow works but Softphone is much better, under Wi-Fi it quickly connecter my friend calling me to my Voip-in number (voipcheap). fring can fail with this.
let me know if you have found some clues how to make it work.
thanks
Hi
I am also facing the same problem. I can make jumblo calls( voip provider) if my wifi is connected.
But it does not work with my t-mobile uk 3g connection.
Please advice.
cheers
I recently brought a vodafone htc magic that has been unlocked. It works fine to make calls and texts on the O2 network but won't pick up a 3G signal. I've put a new 3G sim card in it and still makes calls and text without a problem. It just won't pick up a 3G signal so can't browse the internet or use market etc. Any advice or tips would helpful.
Cheers Adam
I don't know what 3G frequencies O2 uses, but make sure that vodafone magic and O2 network uses the same frequencies. If not, you cannot use your 3G signal.
I put up some instructions last year on the O2 forums about how to do exactly what you're asking.
