Hello,
Is there any way to write a program that will get signal strength (rssi) and Ec/Io (Energy per chip over Interference) values ?
any help appreciated,

GPRS signal strength always present

I used ril.h and some ideas posted in this forum to measure GPRS band strength and I find that when GPRS is connected (even if there is not GSM signal) the returned value is always 183.
Although GPRS is like a digital signal (it only takes two values: 0 or all), when there is not GSM signal, GPRS signal should not be present, but the returned value is 183 anyway.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
I believe it might be a bug with the ril on XDA I. XDA II does not suffer this problem.
Ben
I am wondering if any other dll could do the work fine.
Any ideas.
Thanks.
IMHO GPRS signal shows if GPRS modem on or off. And this signal should be without GSM signal.

GSM Signal Strength

Does anyone know of a software that displays the GSM's carrier strength. I know that there is myphone2.0 and other such programs but those monitor gprs and are just overkill. Just looking for a simple program for the today screen that shows the strength.
Thanks,
M
There is a today plugin called BatteryStatus which also shows the signal strength as a percentage:
http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm
That plugin is pretty nice. I wish I would have known about it before I bought battery pack pro. Do you know if there is a way to only display the GSM strength, since I already have a battery meter?
Thanks,
Mauricio
I want to get the GSM signal strength too !
Try entering into GSM test mode by dialing this
*#*#364#*#*
If engineer mode is enabled, it will bring up the GSM test mode.
If it does nothing you will need to modify this key in the registry.
HKLM/Software/HTC/EngineerMode
BuildInEngineeringModeApp = 1 (to enable it if disabled)
LaunchEngineerModeAppDialStr = *#*#364#*#* (may be different for you, use whatever is listed for you)
I just tried that on my T-Mobile MDA Compact III (Artemis) and it says "The file fieldtest.exe cannot be opened"
GSM signal strength
I use IP Dashboard.
Check it here http://hudsonmobile.com/
Bye.

It worked on my HTC Pro, but man - what a number of strange sounding positions in the table... Where do I look to see the strenght of my GSM signal in the location where I currently am?

How to get signal strength from all nearby base stations?

Hi, I'm developing an application for Windows Mobile. I got stuck in the problem that I tried to get all the CellIds and Signal Strength of all the nearby Base Stations of my PPC. I tried the RIL but just could get strongest signal strength of 1 base station (I believe). So my question is that : is there a way or method so that enables me to scan all the nearby base stations with their signal strength? I would appreciate much if someone can help.
Thank you.

Question for 3G owners, Signal strength display

Can anyone with 3G version of the tab check what is shown under Settings > About tablet > Status > Signal strength?
On my device it seems to show the correct value for dBm but the asu shows always 4 (even when Airplane mode is on).
This problem seems to affect Mobile network signal info on battery history sceen also.
I just want to know if all devices have this problem or is it just me.
I attached two sceenshots to show what i'm talking about.
sorry, this is a bit unrelated to what you asked and possibly idiotic but where in this world did you get a 3g version of the tab?
thanks!
i got my 3g 16g 10.1 in Singapore last week

I ordered it from http://www.cyberport.de/ but it seems they are also out of stock now.
My Tab is showing 4 asu in both 3G mode and flight mode. dB is -55dBm on 3G and -113dBm on flight mode which i think is normal/expected.
not sure about asu though.
hi,
i have the 10.1v (3g model ) and Signal strength shows -83dBm , the asu , fluctuates /moves,between 16,15 14 or 13
point ,as i see it,the asu should fluctuate slightly, from time to time ( as signal strength varies ??)
something for nothing !

ASU or Active Set Update is an integer value proportional to the received signal strength measured by the mobile phone. So the ASU should change when the dBm changes. On my device the dBm seems to show the correct values, but ASU is stuck at 4. It seems that all European GT10.1 have this issue. It's probably a software issue because the dBm seems to be reported correctly and the ASU value should be calculated.

losing signal

hi all i am losing signal all the time from my network is there any commands or secret menus to look at the signal or change the frequencies in order to get my phone working as it should ?
