Is it possible to browse the windows folder of my Wing from the computer while connected? Im using Vista with Windows Mobile Device Center, and can access my wing through my computer. However, the windows folder isn't there, so i cant browse it on my computer.
On XP, all I have to do is browse to it thru activesync... I would assume that vista would be the same way....
Maybe there's some setting in there to hide system files and stuff like that.
Yea that is weird. I can navigate to the Windows folder (non-system files) on XP but not in Vista.
alright, I got it to work. Have to enable viewing of protected operating system files in folder options.

Hi,
I just wanted to clean up my Start Menu as I always did using my old PPC device, however, the \Windows folder does not show up on my PC when browsing the Mobile Device. Is this correct? How can I access this folder to do some easy re-arranging of files?
Thanks.
I think Total Commander should let you have access to all the files on the Universal.
I am referring to the normal File Explorer on my dekstop PC. When browsing the mobile device, the \Windows folder is not shown. I can access it on the PPC itself, but being able to do so on the desktop PC would make the whole Start-menu-arranging-thing so much easier!
i haven't had any problems accessing the Windows directory from my PC
if it helps - i get it from:
My Computer -> Mobile Device -> My Windows Mobile-Based Device -> Windows
Hi there i am having the same problem i cannot see the windows folder on my pc and i am useing active syncro 4.1 ,so please if you have any solution can you let me know please
I can't see the Windows folder with my work PC but can at home.
If you're syncing to two pcs maybe only the first one lets you see the Windows folder.
In a file explorer window on your PC, go to drop down menu: Tools - Folder Options... - View Tab - select 'Show hidden files and folders' radio button.
This should now allow /windows to be seen by your PC file explorer.
Genius!
Thanks mate

isn't enough just expanding you winmob device in vista's explorer?
i expanded everything and i still dont see the windows folder, however i see it on my xp, when i connect it to my desktop
My guess is something like a "do not show hidden or system files" or something like that in your windows explorer options.
Yes i have the same issue. The issue isnt that the folder is "Missig" but it is hidden when browsing through windows. You should get resco's file explorer or similar explorer and try editing the properties of windows folder "unhide"...
but the easier way to copy stuff to windows folder is to just Create a junk folder on your storage card and copy your files into that folder..Then using the Resco's File Manager or similar, copy those files into the windows folder.
While u are at that screen making invisible files visible....make sure to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" as well. voila there is ur windows folder..

Works thanks i was wondering the same thing
Hi i was just wondering is there a way to view internal 'Windows' folder on desktop while having connected as active sync,
i culd currently view all other folder except for windows,
i've highlighted 'Windows' folder in Resco Explorer, and unticked hide folder
but nothing happens....
any suggestion?
i guess it'll be easy to transfer/edit manila files etc...
kind regards
Ummm when connected via ActiveSync... Open up ActiveSync - Click Explore... Then up the top of the folders you'll see 'My Windows-Mobile based Device' -- Double click on that and you'll be in the root folder of your device.
It does not work to move Manila files this way. I tried it originally but all files are write protected and classified as in use even when Touchflo3D is NOT running. It is much better to use Total Commander on your device. If you want to make it easier on the device - Look up a program called MyMobiler: Allow you to control your phone from your PC.
Hope that helps.
Use/test Pocket Controler Pro. Much better than Resco
It has even a reg editor on board that you can use on your PC screen.
Are you sure that on your desktop PC you have disabled "Hide protected and systemfiles"? (Just translated it from Dutch, the actual phrase can be different).
if you are using ActiveSync : yes (just check on desktop if explorer don't hide system files).
if you are using WMDC (WindowsMobileDeviceCenter) in Vista : no (WMDC blocks the access to device Windows folder)

No, it's not true for Vista. It works exactly as ActiveSync for me. Just configure the Explorer properly
OK I saw it with orig. ROM but after flash Windows folder was gone so how I could configure it...I have visible hidden folders in Vista...

It's true that it has a difference between ActiveSync vs. WMDC (or XP vs. Vista) :
. on Vista you have to disable "hide system files" (folder options) to see the device 'windows' folder
. on WinXP, even you have "hide system files" active, you always can access to 'windows' device folder by explorer
Just downloaded a couple of free games to my Laptop, now where do I copy these on my HD2?
Anywhere you like. Use file explorer to find the cab's on the phone and open them.
You have to conect it with ActiveSync on Windows XP or Windows Mobile device Center on Vista and copy files with File Explorer...then, install in phone also with file explorer
Running Windows 7, and connected with Active Sync. Guess I'll start a new folder within "My Documents" for games/apps and drop them in there and give it a try
cheers lads
When I connect my HD2 to PC, I can browse the folders of the phone and its storage card. However, I can not see "Windows" folder at all if the PC runs Windows 7. I do not have such problem in Windows XP, any ideas?
Thanks.
Did you enable show hidden folders? That and sometimes it takes a while for mine to load the windows folder.
Yes, I enabled to show hidden files...It only lists the Windows folder in XP, not in Windows 7...
I can see it in HD2's File explorer too.
uncheck "hide protected operating system files" on your PC. If you want to see them in your HD2 as well, tap and hold then select show all files.
