Hi all,
After even the downgrade wouldn't work, I decided to try WM6. Still can only sync through bluetooth, even with Missing Sync 4.
Does anyone know how to get the USB working again. Same problem with Helmi's WM5 and the Baniaczek twig.
Help please.

uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality"
If you uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality" in "USB to PC" (under: Start > Settings > Connections tab) it should work...

Windows Vista only Uses Mobile Centre.
Windows Vista does not support active sync.
Mobile Centre Only supports Windows Mobile 2003.
Thus.
Vista Does Not Support Windows Mobile 5.
Any Other ways to connect I'm not seeing?
EDIT: My bad, 2003 came before 5, so why is it telling me that it's not supported?
It supports WM5 just fine. Been running Vista since RC1 and have not had any sync problems.
i've been able to use windows vista and have it sync with my wm5 wizard...contact, calendar, etc info appear in outlook just fine after the sync...
Vista was a pain in the ar5e to get WMDC to sync with my k-jam, it is a problem with RNDIS, what you need to do is switch the connection method in Start -> Settings -> Connections USB to PC and set it to serial
then you should be able to get it to work as normal.

I can't seem to find that option in the settings. T_T
EDIT: I've never noticed it before, but my phone is also throwing up error messages about how it can't assign an IP to the netowork
ah ha so you have the same prob I had when I tried it initially, the ACU you are using is to old, you need to upgrade it to ACU 3.3 to get the functionality failing that you can install a simple CAB that will give you the functionality. I have no way of sharing the file so if you mail me your email address I can mail it to you.

am i the only one that can not make work activesync when using XP SP3?
Help please.
i've been using 4.5 under sp3 without any problems
tell me how
i have no way to make it work.
It sounds when i switch the pda, it also starts detection on activesync, after that it says "could not stablish connection.
Tell me how please.
i ddient do anything after sp3
maybe you should try to delete the patnership and set it up again
you can also try removing anything in pc regedit about activesync and reinstall it
Some anti viruses or firewall programs may also interfere with active synch....check settings and connections in your pc and ppc....you may need to delete and reinstall the program....
Solution
Trying things i've got the solution.
On the PPC, Configuration, Conections, USB to PC, unmark the option --> Enable Advanced Network function.
After that everthing is working, live is wonderful and maybe World peace could happen.
Thanks to everybody that tried a solution.

Hi I am using Outlook 2007 on my Vista laptop and connect my HTC Diamond to it. When I do Windows Mobile Device Center says its connect but when I try to sync Outlook files it says there was problems and doesnt do it. I only want the contacts syncing.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Is there anything else I can do to keep the 2 sync'd?
Please help me.
MrDimpy.
try
start -> settings -> Connections -> USB to PC
make sure ActiveSync (syn with outlook) is chosen, and untick the "enable advanced network functionality" if it's ticked, or try ticking it if it's unticked.
I got my Touch HD yesterday and I have not been able to sync it with Vista. I get an error on the HD saying there was a problem with repllog.exe. Vista simply tells me that the sync could not be completed.
I checked google for solutions, but I haven't gotten anywhere.
Anyone else having this problem?
I installed Windows Mobile Device Center today. Do I need anything else?
EDIT: My Touch HD is German and my Vista is English. I don't think that plays a role, but I thought I'd mention it in case it does.
Did you solve the problem and how? I have the same problem and I can't find a solution.
Hey
I had that problem too and that your Windows Mobile problem.
Go on your Touch HD to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC -> and check Active Sync (synchronize with Outlook) and clear the checkbox "Enable faster data synchronization" and tap OK in the right screen corner.
You don't have to restart your device.
I think that this should help.
Cheers,
Sz.

I think this is not the solution. This is used when you want to synchronise using Active Sync.
So when I hook my HD2 up to my PC (Windows XP) via USB I select on the screen to active sync but the Windows active sync program on my PC doesn't connect with the device. Instead my PC keeps insisting that the phone is a modem and tries to use it, it installs it as a modem. I can use the phone fine as a storage device, but I cannot get it to sync.
It did it the first time, but not again after that.
To try and remedy the problem I have uninstalled the driver Windows installed then tried reconnecting the phone...but every time it connects as a modem and its getting annoying.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
No option on your HD2 when connecting to the PC?
Try this:
Open Start -- Settings -- All Settings -- Connections -- USB to PC.
In here you can change it to what you like as default, but there is a tick box at the bottom which stops it being shown etc.
Thanks. In my post I did say that I "select on the screen to active sync", however I didn't specify that it was on the phone that i did this. The pop-up screen you spoke of does appear and I do select the correct option.
Does having outlook help? lol. Don't say yes because then I will look like a total douche. haha. But I did sync once with it like I said, but then my PC decided to hate me.
Active sync problems
I found that ActiveSync behaved different after I upgraded to 1.48 from 1.43 using the ROM update on the HTC website.
Maybe this will help you too:
Go to Settings -> Other (Misc. settings) -> USB to PC
Select "ActiveSync"
There is a checkbox under it "Enable faster data synchronization"
If it is on try deselecting it, as I said with 1.43 I had to disable this, but with 1.48 I had to enable it.
dude
have you xp still or did you upgrade? did you dl the latest active sync from microsoft?
Thanks y'all. I managed to fix it. Don't know exactly how...maybe my computer was being a *****.
Thanks for your replies anyway.
I'm also having the same problem.
Hey!
I was wondering if you could help. l'm having the same problem. did you manage to work pit what you did to get it working? without it I will not be able to update the ROM.
thanks in advance.

Same problem here, my pc doesn't seem to recognize my phone as a windows-mobile-device. Haven''t find the solution yet and started to use my laptop to install programs and sync via microfsoft myphone, but still I am very interesseted in a solution for what seems to be a compatibility problem between HD2 and Windows XP. Anyone can help?

Select "ActiveSync"
There is a checkbox under it "Enable faster data synchronization"
