A way to remove the "G" from the status bar?

Hi,
I never really use GPRS and therefore it would be handy to gain the extra space in the title bar my removing the 'G' icon. Does anyone know how to remove it.
Cheers
Andrew
You can download wisbar advance from lakeridesoftware.com, you MUST download the Beta version from the forum as the version from the main download section doesnt work with windows mobile.
This enabled you to not only choose what is in your status bar, but also allows you to skin your taskbar.
Looks brilliant.
You don't say what XDA you have, but try GB-SOFT's GPRS tweak control Panel at http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=265
The product home-page is at http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/product_gprs_tweak_en.htm, but was down when I checked just now.
What normally happens, is that the XDA checks for GPRS network availability at boot time.
The utility allows you to tweak a few settings, one of which is the ability to turn off checking for GPRS until you actually *use* it, which should take that G away.
Thanks for the replies.
p.s. I've got a i-mate jam.

GPRS button in taskbar. How to get rid of it?

@all,
whenever i am using the phone my ear touches on the gprs button in the taskbar on top. this starts the connection dialogue and the mdac is about to connect via gprs.
i know i can delete all setup connections, but is there a way to get rid off the button?- like with the screen rotate button at the bottom via a registry entry?
any idea anybody?
thanx
got the same problem here... but it usually doesnt connect... annoying yes i know but i dont think its fixable.
howdy,
found toggle start by vijay555 on his homepage. does something close to solve our dilemma: makes the whole start taskbar disappear, thus also the start button. got into contact with vijay to see if he has an idea concerning only the gprs button.
wait and see
Guys, AFAIK, unfortunately, the GPRS icon is displayed by default by the OS. I don't think it can easily be removed without some deep level hacking of the OS. A relatively easy solution would be to display something else on top of it, like a useful clock or battery icon, or memory usage icon etc... is that an option?
V
@vijay,
thanx a mil for your prompt reaction. In case you are dying of boredom one day, would be nice to see what you can do with deep level hacking!
thanx again

I use wisbar advance, it has an option to disable or hide the gprs icon!

Hide taskbar, start button, and bottom toolbar

I'm a big fan of eBooks and have bought many books from Fictionwise. Generally I buy them in the eReader format and so I'm limited to using that reader.
The main downside of the application is the lack of a fullscreen mode. Since they seem to have stopped active development on the tool I thought that the next best thing would be some way of hiding or dimming the WM6 elements while I'm reading.
I can assign a hardware button to run the tool and then run it again when I want the elements back. An alternative might be that they're automatically hidden when eReader has focus.
So my questions are: does a tool already exist for hiding/dimming the taskbar and toolbar? If not, is it something that can be done with Mortscript? If not, is there anyone out there that wants to quote me a price for making something to solve this minor headache?
Extend screen height
I want to know the same.
Ain't it possible to remove these bars, rotate screen, play movie? That would be realy cool.
Btw, can somebody tell me how to remove the bar that sits above the bottom toolbar? It now shows me an icon of CERD.EXE (remote control for Windows CE Version 2.03) constantly when i use this program.
Dipperson, you seem to be asking two entirely unrelated questions:
1. Can a movie be played in full screen?
Answer: Yes, nearly every video playing app for Windows Mobile supports such a feature.
2. How do I remove the small system tray bar at the bottom of the Today Screen? Answer: This is a common request and there are a few solutions available via a quick Google search.
My question relates to the tweaking of Windows Mobile during the running of an app in order to hide these elements when the app itself does not have a "full screen" function.

How does the Navipanel work?

Hi @ll
I have a little, perhaps easy question. I am currently building an app which works with several address. A nice feature of my app would be, to start the installed navigation software (tomtom, navigon, ...) with the target address to automatically start navigation.
Now I have seen that there is the so called Navipanel from HTC which does something simillar. But how does it work? I just own the HTC HD not the HD2 with the latest one. Are there any specifications for the navigation software to start them with a specific address?
C YA @LL
Nobody knows?
sensors and functions and navipanel

Thanks for your answer, but I think we are talking about two totally different things ... I am talking about the so called "Navi Panel", which is a panel activated when you put your HTC into a car kit. With this panel you can start a certain navigation software (Navigon, TomTom, etc.) with several parameters. For example, with the Navi Panel you can start the navigation software and let it start the navigation to your home location, without any fingertip. Or start the navigation to a certain address from your contact list without entering the address into your navigation software. And that's what I want to know: How is it possible to start a navigation software with a destination parameter?
woooww. This is something new for me.sorryyyy.

add location manually

hello,
how do i add a location manually?
my weather app's 'add location' is greyed out.
in 'world time' i only have the option to remove cities or rearrange.
thanks
tom
htc hd2
t-mobile usa
no data plan
Hi, Have you ever been able to do this? Have you installed any custom ROMS or home screen apps tha could be hiding this? Another point, have you tried a soft reset (switch off and take battery out for ten seconds or press the red reset button under the back cover? On 1.66 stock ROM (and below from memory) There should be a big Add City with a + at the left side above the My Location radio button in World Clock. If you don't think it was an app the caused it you could try a hard reset if a soft one doesn't work.
I believe that there is a tool for adding locations, not "findable using the Add City option. A searach on here or the apps and theams section might identify it for you.
Pretty sure you need 'location service' turned on to set a location...

Although I haven't seen the TMobile USA ROM on stock WWE 1.66 you don't need the location service active to add a city. The Weather "Add Location" function and World Clock "Add City" facility appear to be links to the same thing (IMHO). It's only when you try and get weather data that the location service needs to be activated (then you get the Google Location terms of service screen if it is switched off). Don't why theoption is greyed out. It would be interesting to know if you have ever been able to add in the TMobile USA ROM.
thanks for all the suggestions.
solution: i figured out what was going on (and nowhere in the manual could i find this). the app only allows 12 cities. once you're 'full' the location greys out. and the +add city disappears. my phone came with 11 cities preset so all i had to do was add my home city and i lost the ability to add additional cities with no explanation.
the way this phone is set up is kind of silly. i can look out the window for the local weather, but if i want to monitor the weather in a city i am getting ready to travel to i have to go through the hassle of resetting my phone to that city. which of course, makes the local time/date of the phone incorrect. 'my location' is nice if you never leave home or have a world wide unlimited data plan! (but if you travel and want to monitor weather elsewhere it's a pain).
now to get rid of my location.....
even though i have all data services turned off it somehow keeps defaulting back to my gps location.
- tom
ps - i'm using the stock ROM 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
