RLToday is really easy to skin... just take a look at the xml file... it's almost self-documenting. I made something similar for my phone:
(note the bar with numbers above the bottom row of icons...)
(No flaming for using an iphone-style theme... I like it)
Did you post this theme on the rlToday forums? Looks good!

This isn't really programming. Just take a look at the skin.xml file that you get with any generic rlToday theme.
In there, you'll see tags like "text" and "image". In these, you'll see the content of the text, or the name of the image file, as well as the location of where to place this image file.
Just change these to the locations of where you'd prefer the images to be, and replace the images with whatever images you'd like (just look around these forums, or search around on the internet... or make your own if you're artistic-enough).
Please, can someone give use this theme for rltoday??

I' d think it 'cause in the screenshot is visible the topbar but not the "classical" softkey... so my idea was that there is a way to have 4 soft key, even if I did not hope it a lot

Great job on the skin...
Did you use wisbar? and if so is there a way to do it with out wisbar?
The top (the taskbar) is Wisbar 3...
The rest of it is a skin for RLToday... I'll attach the skin.xml and rltoday.ini files...
If you put the .ini file in your /program files/RLToday directory and the .xml file in your skin directory, they should work.
The skin.xml file assumes that icons are in the same folder as the xml file.
As far the "four soft buttons" (which they are not), you need to create a background image and replace the tdywater_<size>.gif files in your /windows/ directory, and then suppress the display of the actual soft buttons. That way, you can use the whole screen for your background.
... by the way, to give credit where credit's due, I started with the iPhone theme by Wajk from the rltoday skins forum...

This sound like a good workaround, but... in my /windows/ directory I have only a file called tdywater.gif, and his size is 640x480 (note that I have a QVGA screen, not VGA).
So... I don't understand what I have to do to make the soft buttons disappear.
P.S. I hope you understand me, my english is so rusted and I have to explain me with simple phrases
There are a couple of alternatives for actually getting rid of the softbuttons -- do one of those first, *after* that you can substitute the tdywater_240_320.gif file with your version.
I believe that the two main options are VJToggle (search the forums) or Wisbar Advance 3 (I *think* this has the option... I'm using VJToggle).

I some search on google, and googled through the XDA search as well, and cant find a theme that is has white bars. I was pretty surprised, since it seems like a fairly simple thing to do. RC mod will allow me to change the text color, but not the background color, any ideas?

You can make your own theme using ThemeGenCE, which you can find here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-themegence-v2-0.html
That'll let you make the task bar and the font whatever colour you want.
Hope that helps!

If you cook this into a ROM, you can edit the files (some are graphics in \Windows others are in shellres.96.dll/shellres.192.dll)

I think it needs to be cooked... There is a shellres.96.dll, it's just hidden (WM won't boot without it as it contains most of the shell images). The MUI file is the US English localization for the device.
OK, after skinning the [email protected] out of Touch Commander, I have decided to give HTC Home a shot.
The CAB file includes all necessary files and will install to the default HHC directory's. I have also included the MobileMatt_Connection WM6 Theme.
Install;
HHC Home Customizer (Required)
Download the MobileMatt HTC_Home CAB file and transfer to device,
Click on CAB file and install to main memory (If HHC is installed on memory card, then install CAB file there),
Open HHC Home Customizer and choose MobileMatt_bg, MobileMatt_clock, and MobileMatt_icons,
Dont forget to load the MobileMatt_Connection WM6 Theme
I have only tested this out on my AT&T Tilt and can not insure it will work on other devices. Enjoy....

OK, after following drock214's (AT&T Forum) instructions, I have had success with customizing. (I now also have the Music Tab) The final HHC version would not allow this on the new AT&T Tilt 6.1 ROM for some reason. So far everything is working and have not experienced any problems as some other posters on the AT&T Forum have had.
I have also created my own MobileMatt HHC skin pack. (now all I need is to figure out how to make it a CAB file). Anyway I just copied over the skin files into the HHC Home Customizer / Files directory. (See screenshot)
OK, I think I have everything I need but have never created a CAB file. I haven't found a good step - by - step instructions of what I need to do.
What I would like to do is, have the cab install the three different file folders into the correct location in the HHC customizer. Can someone help with this or point me in the right direction. Thanks...

Check out WinCE CAB Manager, it's almost as easy as using explorer.
Also, a lot of your graphics seem to be off py a few pixels here and there. Most noticably the title bar for HTChome, and the tab buttons. And... what's up with the white blocks on the top of the clock digits ?

Cool. I guess its personal taste.. too me it looked a little odd since you have such nice rounded clock lower half, the top white boxes looked a little out of place.
Also, maybe it was meant to be like this but I think this looks slighlty misplaced too.

I see what you mean.. I think this happened with the WM6 Theme. I had put a border on the outside of the theme and it just happen to line up that way. My released version does not use that theme. Thanks for the input.
Here are some screenshots of the theme with and without HTC Home. There is definitely something wrong having that border. Good catch.

It's basically an icon theme, but I managed to change also the Landscape Icons, which is rare. In the theme I included all manila files, so it should work with every ROM. (I use ROMeOS 1.05)
I also changed the background in landscape mode. I just made it a bit grey, but every other color option is available...

EDIT: As you may have noticed the Landscape Theme is actually ment for Touch Pro, although the rest should work just fine on a Diamond. However, someone with a Diamond should try to make it work. Consider changing the registry string value "EnableLandscape" under HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila\.
Change it from false to true. If the string value doesn't exist, you can create it.
Very pretty, certinaly makes me wish I hadn't gone for a rom without TouchFlo 3D. If only it didn't gobble resources as badly as it does :'(
I LOVE the background picture, do you have a larger version for use on a desktop? Could do with a copy that's 2560px wide if that's possible please...

Well... The theme is actually made for Touch Pro. (It seems that I was too tired to mention it, sorry).
But, as I think about it, it should also work on the Diamond. I mean, all the files are there, why not?

1. Download the zip file from the link above.
2. Unzip it in a folder in your phone
3. Use Total Commander (It's a file explorer that allows you to change files in the windows directory) to copy the manila files, in the Windows folder.
4. Disable and reenable TouchFLO 3D in Settings -> Today -> Items
You can also use Diamond TF3D Config if you rename the .zip file to .theme.
Thankyou for that. Now, How can I backup my current TF3D theme?

You don't really have to. It is stored in ROM. So if you want to restore your original theme back, just use TOTAL COMMANDER to delete all manila files in windows directory. (Don't worry they are all close to each other).
Again, you can use Diamond TF3D Config 0.6.7. It has a restore function which do all the work for you.
The thing is, if you used a diamond theme to make this, it might actually be that even thouch you changed the landscape mode, it might not work on the Pro... :/
I will give it a try though.
Actually it was made from a Pro Theme. And ofcourse I've tested it on my own.
I'm not sure if the landscape theme will work on the Diamond though! I will test it as soon as my gf comes. She has a diamond...

When u extract your Manila-files and load them in the Manila Editor 0.2 there are some files in a category Landscape... I was wondering if these files can be used on our Diamond.
I think the files are there with some reason... or not? Hope we can figure it out to run TF3D in Landscape! That would be absolutely great!

Wow - That Gold Tab theme rocks.
But how have they managed to get the gold sliding tab???
On the download it says it's not included but in the screen shots you can see when sliding there is a gold square around the icons.
I still have the default black
I did a search on the forums but didn't come across anything!

Found it myself (Eventually)
Well it's the ENTIRE Gold Bling Theme in manila files.
Theres alot but once I copied them over to my X1 I have the FULL theme.
You could probably find the gold slider in there some where with manila editor but I'm happy with the full theme

I don't get the no curtains thing
What exactly does removing them do???
I couldn't tell the difference... maybe I'm just being dense!
Or can't really compare because can only have one or the other.
Still I ran the cab/manila files do must be benefiting

the bars top (where operator details) and bottom(Icons) are the curtains, so the background is clearly seen now.
If you have the default diamond style background it's black so you wont notice, but with some colour it looks ace.
I installed TF3D config in my Xperia in order to change the default theme installeb by the TF3D-HD cab... I cannot make it work. I always get an excpetion error message. is this something known or is there a different application i have to install?. the version i'm using is the .6.7.
thanks much for any guidance.
Its known. You have to edit the registry or delete an xml file. Can't give you the exact data but with the info you should find the solution in the advancedconfig-thread.
great!. it worked by removing the .xml file. thanks.
Want to make TF3D as a panel?
Here is the solution. Thanks to [email protected]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2878314&postcount=3
In my eyes Tf3d is running even faster, and the phone is faster when Tf3d is a panel, I even maneged to use costume Images as you can see in the screenshot, Tf3D panel is the panel with my picture, you can use what ever picture you want
Just make sure they are the right size and name and saved as .bmp
1. landscape.bmp (200x120)
2. large_landscape.bmp (400x180)
3. large_portrait.bmp (240x350)
4. portrait.bmp (120x175)
Then put those files in Program/panels/tf3d
Tfl3D in swedish

Is it possible to add smaller cities to the weather application?
I know it does work for the Diamond. I tried a database-editor but the programm didn't start correctly and TF3D wasn't working anymore...
Any way to set TF3D NOT to reset the right softkey to <Today>? Everytime I run it, it resets the right softkey to <Today> and I have to manually remap it back to <Right Softkey>. It's a bit inconvenient.

hi there,
thing is, i want to have those vista like 3d gradient menu bars in my htc black theme. i searched this forum, the registry in my phone (found things like basehueexpress, color_titleflat/color_captionflat reg keys...), but nothing worked.
can you please help me 'unflat' those bars? i'm tired of this solid black...
i really tried to figure it out myself!! but this time, i lost the battle - but i think war is not over. come on soldiers, i know you know how to solve my problem
BIG THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Carbon Fibre Background
You can't - not with black anyway. The best you can do is grey.
Search for UI Tweaker, RC Mod and ThemeGen CE
yeah, a literally "black gradient" will be solid black anyways - i meant i want everything from the htc black theme, BUT with grey-to-black-gradient no-flat bars.
themegen ce is a thing i've already come across, besides it couldn't load the orig HTC Black.tsk file - i might re-create a black theme with non-flat bars, but (i suppose) this is something someone else around here has already done before. dl link anyone? :-D
though, thank you for your reply - will check UI Tweaker and RC Mod!
well, try this, bro:
Settings -> Today, choose Guava Bubbles theme
regedit, now:
hklm\software\microsoft\color\basehue -> to 160.
it should help.
absolutely marvelous!
thats EXACTLY the kind of tweak i was hoping for.. perfect!
[edit] i'm still amazed.. so simple, so effective. thanks for sharing your wisdom ^^
Also you can use this exe file. place it anywhere on your device and run it.
Enjoy,
dwizzy130
How do you do the regedit? what software do i need? any guides already written?
HAHA its like 20 questions up there!!! ^^^^^^
Thanks
Ok, i got task manager program with a regeditor and i changed that value to 160 but now it is a turquise/green colour! im not sure what is goin on now!
It was decimal that i needed to select. Sometimes im just dumb!!!!! no more pot for me before i decide to play with my phone
Try this:
http://www.ziao.nl/2009/02/release-zifi-vga/
Another one...
You could also try this... it let's you choose any colour you like.
PS. I haven't tried this myself on the Diamond, but I had it on my older devices.
BaseHueExpress would do the trick _after_ selecting guava bubbles theme, to avoid reg editing.. it has no effect on the original htc black.tsk theme, cause the 'flatness' and 'blackness' is kinda hardcoded into this theme. Though its a good app for quickchanging the magical basehue value without manually touching the registry
@ziao
the skin looks very nice, very aesthetic. i dont have wisbar, so it is as beautiful as useless for me ^^ but nice work anyways!

sure i can. here it is - it actually looks much better in realworld, than on the screenshot. fits really well to the tiny little pixels on our precious vga screen.
