Hello everyone, i think this is the correct section for my thread
I am making a hardware matrix, i plan to put it on the wiki when its finished so everyone can see it,
Imho the matrix can be used to see which official roms are compatible, and which devices have the same hardware so we can get drivers from different official roms.
Also this might bring wm5 or 6 to devices that did not have them before
Attached is a XLS file with the current info i have been able to gather
I ask everyone and anyone to please add information, preferably exact details like manufacturer of the part, and the part id.
Your thread is likely to get lost soon.
I suggest that you start the wiki page first, and then ask a mod to make a link to it sticky.
Modaco has a table of hardware, and HTC also, although they are not very technical.
It's a good idea - and having links to rom cooks' pages would also help keep the noobs happy when seeking compatible roms.

i tried to make the wiki table, but i keep getting the following error:
Code:
Plugin OldStyleTable failed. Line does not begin with a '|'.
EDIT
Its a bug in the WIKI, even the test code doesnt work http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=OldStyleTablePlugin
where can i report problems with the wiki?
found the problem, it was due to use old being checked
i finally made the page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HardwareMatrix

ahh! wiki ruined my life and all this time i thought my wizard had a microwave in it!
I compiled a massive update to the ROM section of the Wiki. (“LINK HERE”)
All the ROMs are original ship ROMs, no repacks of any kind.
I’ve spent the last two months trying to find all the original ship ROMs however I wasn’t able to find all of them.
Below is a list of the ROMs I haven’t been able to find, and there must be others I don’t know about.
Missing ROMs
Just in case someone wants to help.

The purpose of this thread is to solicit discussion on Supersonic related wiki pages since everyone may not be comfortable updating the wiki directly or familiar with the wiki syntax. This will also serve as a sanity check for the people maintaining the wiki pages to ensure we are getting the right information out in the best possible format and organization.
You can view all Supersonic related wiki pages here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:HTC_Supersonic

Custom Roms vs. Dev Roms
What do we see as the difference between Custom Roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs#Custom_ROMS) and Dev Roms (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Supersonic/ROMs#Dev-ROMs)?
All Roms are pretty much under constant development. I think these two tables should be combined.
Added CyanogenMod wiki page
Wiki page devoted to our favorite community based AOSP ROM

Missing a theme? Or other key information? Let us know.
don't know if this thread is still active, but as I'm unfamiliar with editing wikis, but I'm full of ideas (and I have a big mouth), I thought I'd list some discussion items here. I'm working on the assumption that the wiki should be one of the, if not the, first place new users shouldbe looking to get information.
1 - remove the radios from the rom section, and give it it's own section on the main wiki page - it's too confusing for new users to locate this information under roms
2 - instead of just linking to roms, kernels, radios, etc. from the main page there should be a few sentances on what each is above the link to the new page - something simple defining each term, and some basic instructions on how to flash each (what should be wiped, what goes on top of what, etc).
3 - would also like to see some info on the main wiki page on nandroid (and the importance of nand backups), hboot, recovery info for both amon ra and clockwork, what wiping means and what it does, themes and themeing, and possibly even a section on popular apps and what they do, like setcpu (and what it means to over/underclock), various launchers (like rosie, adw, launcherpro, etc), and various benchmarking tools and what they measure.
I could probably think up a bunch more, but I'll see what kind of response this gets before posting more
Bump from the dead. no new ideas, thoughts, or suggestions for the wiki?

What about an android development setup environment guide to Linux? Forgive me if I have not searched throughly for a good guide.
Seems this may be dead but this is worth a try.
I would like to add a link to some RUU's provided by Football
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335368
This would be extremely helpful for those wanting to revert to stock for any reason.
Hi,
I have run a guide on the ZTE Blade on MoDaCo right from the initial launch of the device.
The guide at MoDaCo (I can't link because I am too new on this forum) is designed for new users to understand how to get started with custom roms and is also supposed to keep all users up-to date with the new ROMS and changes to existing ROMS.
The Question I have - I know that XDA is a big community and I believe that users would benefit from having access to my guide; should I Link to my guide from a thread here - or Keep a Duplicate thread in this forum?
Here is a non click-able link
android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-blade-modaco-com/319831/25-dec-installing-the-modaco-custom-rom-from-scratch-and-other-roms/
It's a great guide, I read it a week ago or so when browsing for information on the ZTE Blade and it's modding capabilities and status of current custom ROMs. As an Ubuntu user I especially like the Linux specific step-by-steps
Would love to see it in "XDA markup", meaning "ported" to this forum since it would be easier to follow when you're used to this forum's style. Although, it's very easy to follow due to being well written and constructed, so you'd have to weigh that against the pain keeping two versions in sync.
Dunno what forum policy is regarding just linking to another site/forum, but I think this guide should be sticky somewhere on XDA. It would definitely keep down the numbers of questions and new threads
Well, it's all in the title and I'm sure it has been asked but I'd like it to be more HD2-specific.
Can someone point me to a blog, xda thread or wiki that explains how to cook your own CM rom ? HD2 related or something that would do.
I know a lot of threads that tells you where to start and what to do...but not much explaining the process all the way through, in order to understand it.
Any help on this ?
Thanks !
Well nothing ?
its been less than 24 hours
google is problem your best option or sending a message to one of the actual devs and waiting for a reply
Yeah I already contacted one...
Don't get me wrong: I've done some research but it's hard to encounter a step-by-step guide or a real bible.
Thanks.
yeah it is difficult to find the info, there are kitchens available but they dont really give you information on how to write the scripts etc which i think comes down to just having the knowledge of where to start and what to look for to modify/hack
Exactly. Wiki's tend to tell you "type this in terminal" but why I should do it, that they don't say. Of course, they can't explain every specitif command but at least the ones really related to the cooking rom process...
To all XDA Developers,
I would like to suggest that:
At the first line on every first post on new Development ROM, that is the start of a new post for any New Development ROM (alpha, beta, etc), which is still undergoing test and development,... can you put an advice targeted to new user, who are unfamiliar with this site. Put up an advice there where they should start off. Something that is like these, example for DS5 ROM:
To New Users who own Dell Streak 5, please go this page/post to get you started with familiarizing yourself with flashing new ROM, and finding stable stock and custom ROM for your device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=695
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak
and add probably other pages that might be useful for any eager new users to start reading properly before acting on impulse doing somethings that they are not be doing, unfamiliar and no knowledgeable of. Well, something like that. Would it be helpful to do so?
I actually stumble onto this page after viewing some Youtube clips on upgrade done on DS5, searching on Google and I somehow end up on xda-developers page. I was struggling to find a starting point, what to do first... I read endlessly and jumping onto different forums, sometimes ending up on different device forums (ugh, that's kinda stupid of me, :silly: )... until I discover somehow some pages that would be somewhat my starting points. Perhaps this suggestion might be useful.
Secondly, I found out that, for DS5, I can go to these page to get info on DS5, with stock roms and custom roms:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_5/ROMs
But, is there such page as well, similar to that, that list out all the Development ROMs ?
Thanks.
open xda via pc there you can find whole list of completed roms with respective recovery and base files
Sent from my Dell Streak using xda premium
There is no list of custom ROMs such as what you find in the wiki with the stock ROMs.
As to the idea presented, it's redundant as there are pinned posts in these forums which cover the same material. You should be reading those posts instead of trying to force developers or chefs to provide a link to the material on every ROM.
