Hi,
Since I had my 8525 I have always had the comm button set to rotate the screen in landscape. I like to keep it like that and I haven't been able to figure out of to force the 8525 to staying in landscape at all times..so I just hit the button a lot.
A few minutes ago I completely reset my 8525 for the first time. I then changed the button to rotate the screen and it is now rotating it in the wrong direction.
It used to rotate the screen as if the keyboard was out, but now it is rotating the screen in the opposite direction.
Any idea why this happened or how to fix it?
Edit: I think I fixed it.
Have you checked the screen settings for the orientation setting?

Hallo!
Does anyone know the fastest and easiest way to change the display between Landscape and Portrait mode ?
Sometimes when I pickup my device from my Pocket, I notice that the display is on "Landscape" mode, but after I hold it in my hand it turns back to normal (Portrait mode), what causes that ?
Thanks in Advance!
I'm not sure what causes your phone to go into landscape when it's in your pocket but the easiest way to get it back (aside from sliding to expose the keyboard and closing it) is to assign one of your buttons to rotate your screen. In your buttons menu there is a "rotate" option. I changed my messaging button (Upper left corner) to rotate my screen when pressed.
If you use the original case that comes with the MDA VARIO sliding it out of the case causes this rotation. This happens when the PDA is active ( for example an incoming call ), the magnet in the case somehow causes the rotation when you pull it out.
Its weird, but many people experience it - I don't use the case at all and never had such problems.
If you can afford to lose a hardware button then you can assign either Rotate Screen Left or Rotate Screen Right to one through Start -> Settings -> Buttons
Thank you all for your helpful replies.
And yeah DREAMBOXER, you are right, I am using the case that came with the device... I never thought that the magnet causes that. OK is it bad and will harm my device with the time or it is just normal and nothing bad will happen if I continue using this case ?
it won't damage it
it's just the keyboard sensor is a magnet as well
i hit the landscape button and it turns the wrong way. when i slide the keyboard open it turns the way it should. I want to keep the phone in landscape mode. is HTC home the issue? got any ideas?
i went to start-setting-menus and change the orientation..but it wont stay. when i open and close the keyboard it goes back to normal view..not landscpe.
I have only just noticed this weird error with the screen of my phone. I have read of similar problems but I haven't seen anything the same as mine. I have a feeling that it is something to do with the keyboard. Some buttons don't work properly and the start menu constantly flickers. If the start menu stops flickering for a minute then when I press the center button the start menu pops back up, same thing happens if i press space on the keyboard. This happens in both portrait and landscape so its not the same as the screen alignment problem. I have uploaded a (dodgy) video to youtube if it helps anyone: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=fva2ZJL5egY
Thanks in advance.
I now have a feeling the problem is with my keyboard. The o, l and p keys dont work unless i mash them really hard for 5 minutes and the delete key doesn't work sometimes. This is making me think that the start button might also be acting up. Anyone have any ideas? If I can't get this fixed by the weekend then I'll probably get an iphone.
typing seems to messed up lately buttons get get pressed makes ms feel like itisn't working correctly
anyone get the same issue ?
i have the same issue sometimes. it happens if the phone is very cold, if its connected to pc or mains charger or if the battery is 15% or below. i uninstalled the sensitivity tweak which helped a bit

Click to collapse
It might be worth realigning the screen. Go to Settings/Menu/All Settings then select the System icon, and then 'Screen/Align Screen'
You will get the old Windows Mobile 'crosshair' alignment screen which was originally designed for stylus input, but using the normal part of your finger that you'd use for typing, just press over the crosshairs. This may or may not help!
I'm finding that typing is OK, provided I have "aligned" the screen.
However when switching from portrait to landscape alignment goes out of whack. Ok when reverted back to portrait. Also following a soft reset, or switching phone off, a re-alignment of screen is required.
Does the device store the alignment info, or is it reset after each reboot?
Also does device store an alignment profile for both portrait and landscape?
Anyone else notice this, and is there a fix?
OK I've had this happen to me for at least three days now and it's finally to the point where I'm posting to see if anyone else has experienced it. I use the Vega in landscape virtually all the time and because of that I lock it in that orientation. However, once or twice an hour the screen will briefly flip to portrait (power button would be on the left in that orientation) then back to landscape. It's very brief and as I said it flips back just as quickly but it's very annoying. It has happened while watching videos too which is more annoying as it takes longer than a browser to change orientation while playing.
I've tried recalibrating it, rebooting the tablet and everything short of reflashing the ROM. I'm really hoping to avoid reflashing to test it as I've finally got the screen calibrated to an almost perfect level thanks to the other calibration app on the MoDaCo forums. Has anyone else had this behaviour before? If so, have you found a fix?
I do not have your exact problem but something similar. Just now I picked mine up and screen was upside down (when the device was right side up i.e. buttons at top and right). I checked the rotation button and it was not locked. When I rotate the device it will not switch rotation at all - when I go into settings and turn off auto-rotation it flips right-side up. It seems like the accelerometer is knackered but it would seem to be working in order to flip it when auto-rotation is switched off. The daft thing is that in various screens it flips to being right side up. It boots up the right way round and the lock screen is the right way round but as soon as unlocked it flips upside down. I too have tried rebooting and all sorts - thinking of flashing it as a last resort.
I seem to have fixed this now. I use quickboot and on a whim rather using my reboot shortcut I used power off. I then used the power button to start up with the rotation lock switched on - when I turned it off once booted it was back to normal. I suspect the rotation switch bit was a red herring - I reckon the shutdown/restart fixed it.
settngs>g sensor>games mode can cause some accelerometer antics try turning on and off
What does the gsensor mode do when activated, as I haven't seen any difference?
