Here's the solution.....
Get one of the ROMs in this link and extract it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314672
Get your device into bootloader (the three-colour screen; BTW it is Camera+Volume+Reset)
Connect it to PC (the SERIAL on the screen will change to USB)
Hit the ROM Upgrade Utility and upgrade your device.
When you finish, configure your device.
Then continue with the Unlocker, to the end.
Good Luck!
@ eagle 1 - I took the liberty of quoting your post as it seems we've both answered this question a few times already. I hope that is ok and truth be told the solution is available but buried within a lot of other posts.
Thanks to all others (mack, for instance) who've been patient in responding to us newbies. I sincerely hope this post will not offend anyone!
On the contrary, I hope it will reduce the frustration that people (especially developers on short fuses) get in responding to the same question (that has already been answered) again and again and again and again and ag....... well, you get my drift.
Yea, I think your instructions are a good idea. It seems many people are asking this question. Maybe Midget or another moderator can make this a sticky!.
Also, you may want to add your instructions to the wiki...Good Job!

@Midget and other mods - its up to you .
If using Vista.......
My 2 C worth:
If you are using Vista and WMDC and if you get an error that says something like "cannot read from TempATH " then please ensure that you have disabled UAC (User Access Control) in Vista.
Disabling this allowed me to overcome this error and I was able to to do step 1 successfully.
I had used IMEI Check to SUPER-CID my device so did not feel the need to follow steps 2 and 3.

Thanks for contributing, docraj! I haven't used Vista, only XP.
It does say on the Unlocker thread that you do not need to follow all three stages if you have used IMEI-Check to CID-unlock your device. Only stage 1 should do it.

Thanks, - It's alive!! - You really saved my day!
My boss have been furious for several days because I destroyed his HTC X7500 when trying to unlock it for installing WM6 in another language than delivered.
After getting it up in bootloader with USB connection I managed to flash it with the original WM 6 image from HTC.
Mybe someone copld make a list of other "secret" key combinations other than Camera+Volume+Reset and Volume+Reset?
All the Key combinations are on the Athena Wiki and all over these forums.

Do Not Use Unlocker On 7501 Advantage!
I and several others now have bricked devices due to Oli's unlocker. No lights, No charge, No hard reset.
Does anyone know other possible key combinations to somehow get these working?

does a green led come up at least ?

Clarification
I'm getting a new t-mobile uk ameo in the morning and just want to clarify a few things before i get flash happy.
Am i right in thinking its an X7500 so fine to run with Olipros unlocker out of the box or should i do anything else first? (and before the smart arse brigade say yes read, i have, and this forum has become so jumbled up the messages are a bit mixed)
If the answers are yes then i assume i can flash the fine work of Pawel062 from here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329992
Disclaimer: If i do by some small chance come up against the black screen (which seemingly doesn't happen anymore) or get stuck after stage 1 i will flash a stock rom from bootloader and start again. If that doesn't work i won't be playing the blame game either as it obviously works for most.
Hi all!
I have tried to change the language on a X7500 here at the office.
Used Olipro software to unlock it (I was getting VENDER ID error - obvious).
But stage 1 didn´t succeed and now I have a bricked unit.
I can do a hard-reset and I also can go to the bootloader.
If I use Olipro unlocker software I get this error:
ERROR [300] : INVALID UPDATE TOOL
This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone. Please get newer Update Utility.
If I try to flash with the correct language ROM from the HTC site I get this error:
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
And also get this info:
!"#$%´-AUJH5567-HUEbc568-xxxxxxxxx
Help!
I´m stuck!
Any ideas?

What has happened around here? A thread with this title got this many replies?!?
I know from experience there is plenty of reading material on topics like this. Also, if you follow instructions, you will not have these problems. When I first used this unlocker, I had never done any flashing/unlocking. I thought it was basically foolproof.

Please DON´T judge others.
I have done hundreds of flashing/unlocking/firmware upgrades to several devices like phones, PSPs, Satellite Receivers, printers, motherboards, CD/DVD drives, MOSC, etc., etc..
I´ve NEVER bricked anything because I do read a lot and yes, I follow instructions before flashing/unlocking.
I flash things since 1989 so I always do my homework.
This time, as I said, step 1 went wrong due some communication error.
I´ve again, again and again searched/downloaded/flashed this X7500.
After a day doing this routine I finally give up and posted. My eyes needed a rest.
As you might see weaselcossey, I am seriously looking for help.
If you can help, that would be great.
Just to add to my previous post:
The X7500 goes nicelly to a grey screen with a status bar but when the status bar reaches 1% the software - both Olipro and official - stop flashing and generate the error messages I´ve posted.
Any help from other fellow users would be great!
Thanks
Since I cannot edit my last post, I will do a request in this post:
I am looking for the "DIAGNOSTIC MINI SD CARD" software, which only HTC staff have access to it.
If someone in this forum can provide it to me, I will be most grateful.
I will, of course, treat this matter with discretion.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried to remove the battery for 30~40 minutes?
Had the same issue here (no hard reset) and all power sources removed solved that problem.
Still have my X7500 bricked.
It starts to flash, but quits at 1%.
Ask to CMONEX, it seems a DEVICE ID failure...

Hi, Sorry to start a new thread but I have a specific Android 2.1-invoked difficulty. (I think. Indeed, I hope.)
This is my phone. I can give the serial number if it helps anyone.
hero cvt ship s-on
hboot-1.76.007 (hero10000)
m1crop-010f
touch panel-syn0104
radio-6.35.06.18
Aug 4 2009, 19:43:30
My Hero is completely unmolested. Just a Hero supplied by my subcontracted Vodafone supplier. I have done nothing to it except load apps. It is not rooted. I think. Until yesterday, I did not know what "rooted" meant. Well, not in this context, and unless you are Australian you will not get that joke.
So I got the OTA ROM notice to upgrade - supposedly the prep part of Android 2.1. I accepted it and it all went fine. No problem - all done. Rebooted and running 2.73.405.5...
Nothing happened for a fortnight until Sunday evening when the second OTA part came through. I accepted. It downloaded, the 75% wait thing happened, it rebooted... It stopped at the famous triangle warning screen. I waited, waited, waited, went to bed and got up. "Hero" it said - it is hung at the Hero screen. I rebooted a few times. Nothing. Stuck. Took the battery out for a few hours, took the SDcard out, swapped SDcard, took out the SIMcard, put them back. Nothing. Hung at Hero screen. So I read a few websites = "Reflash the ROM, you fool". OK, how do I do that? And so I found the two boot methods...
Rebooting with VOL DOWN works - ie it is available but does nothing. FASTBOOT can be seen but does nothing. RESET DEVICE does nothing. HBOOT fails and says no image. USB connection is found by Windows - it appears as a device in Control Panel but reflashing the RUU.exe from the HTC website gets error 170. No connection. Hsync is loaded, says not connected. Obviously I cannor mount it. So I extracted the rom.zip from the official RUU and did the HOME+POWER Android System Recovery sdcard and update.zip malarkey. It found the zip but says "No signature". Now, this is the official HTC ROM from the website, matched to my serial number - extracted from the EXE because the EXE won't work because it won't connect - and it says no signature. I thought that that was impossible. Reading about, I think that that happens when trying to put strange ROMs onto unrooted phones. And I have no idea how to even begin doing stuff like that even if I had an interest in it.
And so I have stopped before I turn the bloody thing into a paperweight. If it is not already one such.
BTW it is under warranty. Should I just send the damn thing back to HTC?
One other message I do not understand is that when I load the system recovery, the first thing that comes up (in yellow, under the blue menu choices) is "E:can't open /cache/recovery/command". I have no idea what that means but it may mean something to somebody. There are no directories like that on the SDcard so I guess that it is referring to the internal memory.
I have tried to give as much info as I can but I am not an Android freak. I am though pretty IT savvy and at a loss to understand what has happened. I think that my phone may be branded to somewhere I do not understand but that does not explain why the official ROM has a signature issue. Or am I just a dim noobie?
Any and all help will be gratefully and humbly accepted. Thanks. Great phone BTW.
And another thing...
I did have a thought that maybe the signature part of the gig resided in a part of the RUU that isn't in the ROM.ZIP and that maybe that is why it is failing. Alas, I have no idea if that is the case or not. If it is the case, I will need advice as to how to make the phone connect to the USB so that I can use the RUU.EXE - which screen would be best etc.
Thanks again.
Are you on Windows 7? If so you may want to find an xp machine as I know people with Windows 7 including me have problems. I use a Windows XP virtual machine.

Well, that was fun. Update failed again with...
can't chown/mod system/xbin
It seems that this is related to having an old SPL. That is all very boring and technical. I am back to my trusty RUU and will wait for a month or two before trying the update again. I have a living to earn.
Thanks for your help, Andrew.
A good friend of mine supposedly shut off his A500 during a upgrade/update. The unit still powers on but all I can get it to show is "boot verified failed..." in the upper-left corner of the Acer screen. I've downloaded several ROMs and tried reflashing from the SD card but no luck in reviving this. All I get is the Android triangle. I've reformatted the SD card. I've tried the Vol + power + screen lock stuff, too. I can't get to any other screen to change any settings... period. Many of the ROMs that I would like to try are dead links now that the government has shut them down. This is a US unit. Would someone be kind enough to direct me to where I can get the right stock ROM so I can at least get this thing running for him?

Thanks for your response and it DOES look like it would work... IF I could access anything on the tablet - like enabling USB Debugging, etc. I can't get to it. What I need is something I can flash or boot right from the SD card as that's the only thing I have access to.
with this you do not need to have access to nothing. Download the file From the thread above to your windows pc. OPEN THE Zip file. it will have all the tools and A VERY DETAILED set of instructions. Find the instruction file and fallow it.
Many people have used this with ease. If you want help just flashing another.zip file. post the rom that was on the tablet . the recovery installed as well.

OK, I tried it out and it doesn't pick up the tablet as I don't think USB debugging is enabled and I have no way to enable it. That's why I'm asking for a method to flash it from the SD card.
BTW, I found the S/N inside the SD card door.
You could try decrypting one of the update roms;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
Note that some are encrypted, and you have to de-crypt with the tool listed there.
Extract and copy the update.zip. Copy to SD.
Boot by vol- or vol+, and see if it will install.
There are a couple of other tips in the threads, like toggling the button for Portrait lock, to force the tab to start formatting.

No, I haven't used that method, since my HTC desire. Same principle though.
I'd tell you the principle behind it, but it's rather long.
Glad you got it going.

XDA, is, and always will be the place to come for the really technical stuff. As you see, there are users here, which will give you what they know. May not always be the fix, but, some people here "do" care.

Tab boots to "welcome" screen but does not register touches, leaving me unable to move forward. Ready for the long story?
I am helping a friend who bought this tab from a third party. When he received it, the previous owner stated that they did a factory reset back to Honeycomb but he noticed that it did in fact still have ICS on it. Probably OTA'd when the previous owner did the reset. Tab worked fine for about two weeks until one day he came home and the lockscreen would not register touches. That's where I come in.
I did the "erase, wipe" (booting while switching the screen rotation back and forth.) Tab wiped and brought me to the "Welcome" screen where you select country and language and still does not register touches. I have tried blackthund3r's flash and manager tools, as well as multiple guides to recover from what I have seen referred to as "flu." The main problem I have is that I cannot get a valid UID. Using USBDeview gives me an 11 digit serial but it returns as invalid when plugged into DotNetDetector and I am unable to use SDB because the non working touchscreen has left me unable to enable USB debugging.
Any suggestions, help, advice, on things I can try? I am really stumped and would like to help my friend/conquer this problem. Thanks for anyone who has taken the time to read this/offer help.

As sure as I am reading yoru reply the damn thing just started working. I was able to get to USB debugging and via ADB I was able to pull the UID; which was the same as the one I got from USBDeview btw. Still an 11 digit code. The only thing I can guess is that it has a faulty touchscreen, or maybe the battery was just too low to register touches? Thanks for your reply though. Always nice to be able to rely on the folks at XDA.
That is too cool. The other way is a learning experience to be sure. Enjoy.

I have now realized that the touchscreen does work but is very glitchy and have found that lots of people have had problems with the OTA ICS update. Any suggestions on a good custom ROM for this tab? It isn't mine so I have not been following this section. Would like something close to stock ICS but with fixes that resolve the problems associated with OTA.

First check in Settings>About Tablet>Build Version - this will tell you what rom you are currently running -
Then, if you can, download and install Acer Recovery Installer
This tells you what bootloader and recovery is installed.
The glitches you speak of and the 11 digit uid point to an ICS Rom and unpatched HC bootloader - updating to the new BL often fixes these weird glitches BUT if you flash a custom rom as well, you'll be running sweet!!!
If you wanna stay close to Stock then I'd recommend ezterrys one here comes pre-rooted and busy box installed - and if you want to you can install his Over clocked kernel too.... plus its well maintained and supported
there are many tools and guides around to help you...the ones in my sig for instance the cpuid one has a lot of general info in it too re bootloaders, sbk and flash tools.
If you have any q just ask, there's always someone round willing to help...good luck!!
I have tried recovery mode and factory reset.
I'd like to refashioned the os and give that a try. But I don't want a custom Rom unless that Rom can be updated without flashing.
I really don't want to have to buy another phone right now.
I have googled the issue but the links are from 2017. I want some up to date links with current info.
Also a nice step by step tutorial would be nice. As I'm not experienced flashing and whatnot. Oh and no sarcastic comments like "step 1: find the stock Rom, step 2 plug into pc and flash" because that really doesn't help.

Only using attitude because people always send a bunch of useless inks from years ago with links to mega or google drive that no longer exists.
I just wasn't in the mood for the same crap I was told when I tried to flash stuff onto an LG G4. Stuff like being given instructions assuming I'm experienced and dead links. I'm tired of clicking on mega and drive links only to find what I'd been searching for has been deleted.
Even new phones have mega files people would remove.
I'm not blaming anyone. I was just sternly for the right stuff and no vague responses.
Yes I can use the search.
I should just garbage this phone. All I've read about it was issues and issues. Every SD810 and SD808 has been nothing but a mess.
I'll easily blame qualcomm for that one.
If you aren't experienced and not willing to take the time to learn...don't bother trying to flash. And regardless of the fact that all people don't provide "relevant" info/help, you should still be thankful. No one here has to do/help with all this stuff, it is a community and should be appreciated.

I can't install the android USB drivers because the PC doesn't connect to ANY port on my PC so I can't update the drivers (restarted, full shutdown, two different cords)
I can't get into the phone to access developer mode so I can unlock the bootloader
Let's start there. I found a video on youtube, but the link the guy provided was dead, it was a 3 year old link afterall.
I think, I am doing it right?
I am installing the Android Developer thing so I can get the drivers installed for the device.
then I can try and unlock the bootloader "somehow" I have yet to look into this.
I just HATE HATE HATE, when I am trying to do one thing and 6 other things get in my way and then things stem and branch off from those things that it results in me being so far from the original task that it's just aimless.
on BB10, to flash new OS, you downloaded a EXE file for windows, pressed it twice, said yes I am an admin and BAM, os was flashed.
Why can't android be that simple.
EDIT: if I let the phone sit, it goes to an "encryption unsuccessful" screen then hangs there for ages then just restarts. Sometimes I can get a factory reset option, but that doesn't do anything.
I went into recovery mode to wipe it, NOTHING
wiped the cache, nothing.
I am very very very frustrated. That's all. I just didn't want to be frusterted and then someone nicely comes along and says "watch this video, it has everything you need" then that video has dead links or something. I still am frusterated.
Why is the OS failing to encrypt, why is it corrupt?
Okay, new issue.
I can't get into the OS to bootloader unlock the phone. So I get an oem unlock error through adb. I guess this is the end of the road right?
Look for nexus 6p 4 core fix and you'll find the info you need.

Have you unlocked the Bootloader? Or done anything ( mods) etc???
Did this phone work at some stage? when did it start to not boot?
Have you updated to Pie?

We need more information.... Mabybe able to help...
And should be posted over in the Question and Answer Thread.. ?
Your device is safe . Just go to nearest care point tell them software gone and tell them to reflash the software using ost

Not sure on these questions. I believe it is stock. I bought it from an acquaintance that said he was just upgrading. He showed me it working. I got it a week later and its doing this. Trying to see if its fixable before addressing him. I believe it was stock and with oreo. I just know he was saying its the new android 1 and for 2 years of updates.

I googled and spoke to nokia. there are no help centers in the usa. does anyone have directions or links to reflash it myself? I saw after googling that they released a fix for the 7.1 plus that was bricking due to the update.

Hi, you'll need to unlock the Bootloader first, which is not possible ( i think ) as Nokia does not allow this as yet, for most devices. On my 6.1 OEM unlocking is greyed out and Nokia just said stay tuned when I asked to get an unlock key. Can you get into Fastboot mode - hold Vol down and power ( while you have a usb connected to power / pc )??
https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-61-plus/fastboot-mode/
It might be worth trying a factory reset FIRST, which could work.. follow this - https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-61-plus/recovery-mode/
Let me know how you go

I tried all of this in the youtube video I posted. is like it doesnt have a boot loader information on it. It seems as thought there is zero software in there excpept for the android one screen and the amount of battery life when its off. When not plugged in I get absolutely zero response from the phone, even though its 100% charged. Is there a way I can put something on a memory card and try to access it from there into boot mode, or maybe use some software to access the phones internals to install through a computer usb?
Lost

Sorry I missed that, I thought you had to be doing something wrong. I've never been in this sort position & I've been flashing phones for years, anyway, I'm a bit lost as to what to do next. Without a care centre to help, i can not find any other way to get that phone to boot. As every method I know and have read about, requires an unlocked bootloader and or getting into download mode or the recovery. The Nokia online service tool (ost), requires an unlocked bootloader to flash firmware. Also if the PC does not recognise the phone is another issue.
I will keep looking into how to correct this issue & if I find anything, I'll let you know.
This maybe worth reading, as it may hold a solution

I've doing some reading... https://www.getdroidtips.com/nokia-6-1-plus-stock-firmware/
and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DR5-x5iAEls
https://www.techmesto.com/download-nokia-online-service-tool-6-0-4-for-all-phones/
I know its not related to your device specifically, though its interesting. If we can get official OST LA software and someone's log in details, we can flash firmware to Nokia's with locked bootloaders... I'll be back in touch soon.

Great! I have hope once again! Why doesnt this apply to my phone? They all reference the nokia x6 or 6.1 plus. I will attempt these steps and see if any success or change occurs while awaiting your response.

I also found this tool, to flash firmware ( .nbo files ) - https://androidmtk.com/use-sut-l3-tool going to have a look for some firmware for you.
This is one option - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-6-2018/help/nokia-x6-nokia-6-1-plus-global-rom-t3822657
I thought i shared a link about other models, with the same issue ( soft brick ). I was wrong.

I have been reading, others are reporting, getting into recovery mode can be difficult.
When phone is on connect with USB cable to PC. Turn phone off, immediately press volume up button after this. Wait for the little Android to appear. Press power + volume down to access the recovery menu. -> this might take a few tries cause you have to be really precise, but this was the same on my Nexus 5X.
When you have time and patience, could you try to get into recovery again.

I got the ost installed but I either dont have proper firmware or the phone is that bricked that it will not accept any boot. The image shows the result I get.
Does anyone have any or know of any functional firmware for this phone?
