Utility to log installs / file aditions / changes etc

Im looking for a tool that will produce a log of all files and registry changes / aditions on an XDA
For example, when i install some software, it will list all of the files added, and all of the registry keys etc.
Anybody know of such a tool?

Program to Restore Parts of Registry Backup

Hi,
is there a way or a program to backup/restore the registry as .reg file,
or more important: restoring only parts of the registry
via a program "like" spritebackup. is there a reg editor which can export/import the registry partially?

I use kilmist/klimst registry editor (never remember the spelling).
That exports and can import registry files.
If you've got a full reg export, edit it in notepad on your PC to have just the bits you want, save and import on your PDA.

I use Resco file explorer' Add-on for registry editing. Exports as .reg files.

Running a .exe

Hi peeps,
Is there an app or a trick where I can run an .exe file on my UK Vario without having to hook up to my pc?

What exe? How are you getting the file on to your phone?

When I'm out and fancy downloading something I generally download direct to my device and as a rule everything a in exe format so need a PC to run the app, game etc.

I think he meant that how can he extract the stuff he wants from a SETUP.EXE of a PPC software.
If it is an EXE, you can run (still need a PC) it on a PC, check the temp folder and get the CAB file. Copy and run this on your PPC.

Many thanks for the info, not quite what I mean.
For example I'm at work and browsing some ppc freeware I find this file pocketpictureinstall.exe and download it direct to my device.
Thats it I dont have my home pc to hand just my Vario and unless I run ActiveSync which I can't at work there is no way it will run on my device.
Is there any software out there that would allow me to provide the .cab files local on the device or just run the app?

No not really. There are possible apps you could compile for the PPC to assist, but you'd have to be a coder. If not, then the easy answer is typically no - but many websites offer the choice to download the installer in cab format.. Look around.

Registry Dump

I'm trying to make a cab of all my settings/programs etc since there's a lot of flashing going on nowadays..
I've dumped my registry with all my settings, however now i'm trying to get a registry dump from a clean device (after hard reset) so i can compare and extract the values that are different. Of course, now i don't have any programs on the device to grab the registry. Can someone point me to the right app? Was trying to use registry workshop from my PC, but it doesn't seem to like exporting from the trinity.. while exporting, the window just goes blank and hangs there..

hello fellow chefs
i am looking for a way to dump my phones register
i wanna make some changes in the rom when you flash it by default but i cant seem to find a way i can dump and then read the reg on my compuiter
when i start up my camera it isnt set to full screen and superfine mode
so i wanna dump the reg and storer it on my computer
then i wanna make the changes and dump the reg of the phone again and compare it with winmerge to see whats changed
have done alot of google yesterdya but couldnt manage to find it
i did try wince reg editor but without succes there:S

Have you tried with ceregeditor?

Search the forums for a tool called "Kheb" it can take full registery dumps and diffs if you want to track changes.

Stick the task manager in windows, then run the shortcut. You need this folder, otherwise the dump will go to my docs (-storage card-my backups-registry). The registry will be dumped as a text file. You can edit the path in the shortcut. The task manager has to have the correct name, or else it won't work.

i wrote the name wince regeditor
thought it whas the same name

I've dumped the full registry using Registry Workshop form the PC.
It's really easy to use and allow you to change the registry easily from the PC via Activesync.
