saving reg settings - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

hi all,
just a quick question.
if i want to send (basic) registry settings to a friend can i do it in the same way as xp reg changes, ie. changes.reg?
or do i have to do it some otherway given that wm has not native registry editor.
would i be better of creating a .cab? if yes can someone point me in the right direction?
tnx in advance

How do I remap the PocketIE button on Exec/Jasjar

Got my new XDA Exec today. Keyboard has a button with the Internet Explorer icon on. When I press it I'm taken to http://pda.o2.co.uk/ which is about as much use as tits on a kipper.
Is there any way to reprogram this key to something more useful? Like Google or something? It doesn't appear in the list of programmable buttons in the control panel Buttons applet.
Perhaps it's a registry entry. If so, can anybody suggest a (free) WM2005-compatible registry editor?
TIA
Not sure about the Exec, but this was the registry edit for the JasJar:
Change hardware PIE behavior:
Go to - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\OEM\Keybd
Change the string called PieHomePage to the website address of your choice.
If you don't want it to do anything but go back to the spot in IE you left off -
Just edit the dword so that it is blank.
Bonza! That looks about right. Thanks for the info, galt. I'll check it out when I get into the registry.
Now, I just need a registry editor for WM2005. Can anybody suggest one?
Tre. It's freeware.

Nice one! Thank you galt and lautunno: I've installed Tre and fixed that registry value and it's sorted! Thanks for your help.

Help again please (registry settings)

Hi, Im after some help again please (or even a nudge in the right direction).
OK basically I have a lot of SPVM500 and SPVM2000's to configure.
On of the things I have to go is disable the buttons (calendar, contacts, camera etc) including the OK button (if possible) and the green and red buttons too (again if possible). I'm not allowed to use any additional apps and so I have to use a merged registry entry. Can anyone advise, reg key's etc?
Thanks in advance.
You don't ned a registry hack to do that. Just go to Settings-Buttons and delete the entries. I don't think there's a way to disable the Call and End buttons.
Hi thanks, yes I know I can go into the buttons settings, but with 500 devices to configure a registry merge would make my job that much easier lol. I have some registry input already that sets up my gprs etc from an autorun on an SD card, this is just for some other settings.
Also the buttons settings don't let you turn off the click in the center of the 'joystick'
Cheers
I'm not aware of a registry hack for your needs, sorry.
no worries, thanks for taking the time to reply anyway

Search for Schaps autoconfiguration tool on here, install and run it. You should then be able to do what you want.
WB
try this
did u try this registry option for left softkey
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
Default: ContactPM (type ContactPM)
Open: (Enter Full Path of the program) i.e. Program Files\.......
Thanks Lord but your advice is for changing the softkey on Today screen. not on PHONE/dialpad Screen.
I had this same problem, and despite numerous searches, I could not figure out how to change the word "contacts", but I was able to map it to another contacts program quite easily. Try using the entries below.
this is from pocketcm faq!
How to add this application as the default contact manager?
You can also do it by hand:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from :MSPOUTLOOK contacts to "\Program Files\PocketCM\PocketCM.exe".
Make sure that you add the "" on the new entry.
Or the easy way

Unstable! after installing calendar, call history and comm tab

Hi there,
my slider become unstable, hang after a while or if I scroll too fast, after install the above 3 tabs by modifing the registry. Anyone experience the same? Any solution?
Put the registry settings back the way you found them... that should do the trick. Use Schaps Advanced Config tool to do the registry hacking for you - you have an option then to return things to their default setting if you don't get the desired result.
whatever
schap's advanced modifies exact the same values in a same registry, that you would edit manually, so there's no difference.
another question how did you add tabs to manila, editing registry?!
you should edit XML in 2694..._manila file in \windows to get additional tabs.
No difference!!

... actually there's a lot of difference! Schaps allows you to know exactly what you're adjusting, which is very useful - and you can return the settings to default if the result isn't to your liking. BIG difference to messing with the registry yourself! Yes, the result is the same, the level of skill / knowledge / risk is definitely not the same

where is the registry ???

hi to all
i want to change the softkey and make a shortcut to icontact, but i cant at tf3d.
i have to change the reg edit ... and i cant finf him.
thnx..
you can use this program http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm to edit the registry......
and for remaping the soft keys http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413100....
hope this helps
Hmmm...
....might I also recommend getting a competent person to help you, because if you have to ask where the registry is, then you most likely have no buisness modifying it.
